Yes I realize that. If I had my pics from my vacation I would post those. The last time I went scuba diving, the mouthpiece attached to the hose attached to the scuba tank was not attached to the snorkle mask. The scuba gear was separate from the snorkle gear, but one wore both in case one wanted to go deep with the scuba or just float through shallow waters with the snorkle.

Originally the otters took the scuba gear entirely, and the top otter had the mouthpiece bit, but it looked like a skinny snake with a fat head, and didn't make sense without being on a face. I figure he dropped it.

Maybe I'll be able to find a better picture that shows the gear is separate though.

I like the otters a lot. Great title, story, and composition, too. As original as the premise is, I wish you designed the diver differently somehow.

Ok so I don't expect anyone to listen to this but I'll put it up anyway. As a certified SCUBA Diver with my own gear and many years of experience I can tell you that yes, there is a snorkel. You use it on the surface if you need to swim somewhere. The piece that is circled on that picture is a 'regulator'. That what bring the air from the air (not oxygen, all divers would be dead if they used oxygen tanks) tank to the mouth. This attaches to the top of the tank with a piece that is screwed in and held by the extremely high pressure in the tank. It's almost impossible to get it off if the tank valve is open so it couldn't really have 'fallen off' the tank but it could easily have been pulled out of the mouth. There is also a few other cords, usually an extra emergency regulator as well as a piece that goes to the Buoyancy Compensator which controls your bouyancy so that you aren't too heavy and stuck to the bottom or too light and shooting off to the surface. So in the end all that is missing is the 'Octopus', as it is commonly known, that should be on the top of the tank. Mmmkay? Oh, and a mask goes on your eyes and a diving mask has to cover your nose or you can't balance the pressure and you will end up with black eyes.

And otters do have tails, but I still think that these should be sea lions as they are very well known for harassing behavior.

Haha, the harassing behaviour of sea lions can also be construed as playfulness, though---at least in my experience with sea lions in the Galapagos, they never did anything particularly nasty; however, they would swim swiftly toward you, until their face was only inches away from yours, and then dive away backwards. Maybe they are a bit mischievous.

And I very much appreciate the accurate information on SCUBA gear, as I've never been diving.

My dad in particular hated diving if there were sea lions in the water. They would try to play with the exhaust bubbles and grab the top of the diving hood and pull. this knocks the regulator out of the mouth and the mask off the face. Not being able to see or breathe isn't a great feeling.

i see a lot of comments here (not just this, but others as well) being scrutinized due the lack of accurateness in comparison to reality. i just don't get this. i mean we can pretty much criticize almost every submission here about what's missing or what it's suppose to be. like how on earth is that otter even holding that tank?! he has no hands or fingers!!! but that's not the point, these designs are meant for aesthetic reasons, and not for deep pondering. if that's the case, then what the heck is the design doing on a shirt!?! i'm not scuba diving kinda person, but i get the idea and discussions should just be centered around how awesome (or not) it looks. kachaw! on to the voting poll!!!

Well otters do very well holding small food and even using rocks as tools to break open shells... but now I'm just being difficult ^.^

Honestly I think I just know too much about the subject. The inaccuracies really would bug me to the point where I wouldn't be able to wear the shirt.

I disagree in this instance. If you are going to "correct" someone, then it is imperative to have the facts.

Worse, the posts, that fablefire was responding to, were concerning the existence of a snorkel, more so than the regulator. Every post specifically mentions snorkels. SCUBA divers wear snorkels, which is what fablefire was showing (snorkels).

So what point was clear exactly? That a regulator was missing (on the tank not the face as circled)? Well he is not wearing a nice neoprene suit, diving belt, knife, emergency vest...the list goes on. Those details are not necessary for the style of the design.

Critique the style/theme.

I for one really like this design because it's very playful unlike most the woot shirts on here that just look like they were make with the custom shape tools in photoshop or a bunch of chicken scratch that happens to look like something.

a weight belt
and with a satchel.

anyway, fablefire, this shirt is really cute. the fog this Derby has been really interesting to watch as it keeps changing every five minutes. and i like all three that keep changing in and out!

Those are not scuba masks, those are regulators, scuba masks are what protect their eyes from the water so they can see, which he is missing in the picture, if the otter took his tank the regulators would have gone with it.

In the case of snorkels most divers will wear them while we dive, because often you spend alot of surface time in the water, rather than waste air, use a snorkel

This reminds me of ramyb's design from last derby of the children with hooves. Why not include hands? It just adds a slightly creepy factor, for me anyways.

As much as I hate this style, Fable has been here doing these kind of designs long before Ramy and his girl showed up and wisn almost every week with them.

Usually there's one aspect of shirts here that really bugs me, so I like them at first, but I can't buy it because something isn't right.

Here, it's the paws/feet of the otters. Why don't they have flippers instead of flat feet? I'd say that they look more like river otters, but then they're too big, and furthermore what's someone doing SCUBA diving in a river?

I'm a huge fan of otters, and saw this and thought I'd buy it immediately (fun idea), but then looked more and had an issue (as mentioned above). Not trying to be hypercritical.

I SCUB dive in rivers. There are great spring-fed rivers her in FL and people SCUBA dive in them all the time.
