Interesting.... I'll have to sketch some things out this time...

vishneda

Wow, how similar to the time one. Will we see some resubmits?
EDIT: NM, I was silly read it wrong. Sounds pretty cool, actually.

Ok, now I expect two Puckers because the first one is too easy.

Patchitect

Meh.... we'll see if something comes to me in a flash, but all i got now is a Bill Keene Family Circus dashed line image..

Jack31081

We’re not looking for souvenir shirts from famous places, or that sort of thing

Would this mean that a shirt covered in travel stickers (the kind you put on suitcases) from Dante's nine circles of hell is out of the question?

/that idea's been kicking around in my head for ages now, and this would appear to be the right time to do it, but now i'm not sure

allawayr

This sounds like a neat topic. I can't wait to see the designs that come out of this

klswoot

Maybe Cho's Dinosaur can be re-entered? It was so popular in the time-travel souvenir derby, but was submitted late if I remember correctly.

Hmm I don't know if time travel is the kind of travel they are looking for...that theme has been done. Maybe if he was strapped to the luggage rack of a VW Bug or something instead. hah

shmeedles

I'm a bit confused on this one, could I do say... traveling to an exotic location?

Like the wonders of travel.. I don't really want to reveal my idea.

I wish there was some way you could run your idea by them, and see what they think in terms whether it would pass for the theme.

Patchitect

Uh oh... Gears are turning... grinding.. smoking.. burning out.. i didnt need sleep tonight anyway....

Don't know why, but I can't get Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" out of my head. Must be something in the description that just made that book stick in my head.

Thinking....thinking....thinking....

klswoot

I take this

show us your visual commentary on travel’s trials and triumphs.

and this

we’re talking travel as a concept, a process, a section in the Sunday paper.

as the two most important theme-related requirements.

Do you agree....I really don't want another rejected entry. My wonderland tee and Patterned along the diagonal were upsetting enough. :o)

I actually have an idea for this one! Simple concept...*goes to work*

Patchitect

do it anyway... what could it hurt? I mean the idea perhaps translated upon a suitcase would probably fit just fine

perhaps with a note about wanting a hell of a good time

email Joel?

Woundup

Woundup Inc. would like to offer their support to this theme. It's a good 'un!

We wonder if non-physical forms of travel could be pursued as an idea.

I agree those two points are the basis for rejection. I'd stick close to those. IMO

Torvik

Alright Browncoats. I've got a real shiny idea, but I'm gonna be away from the cortex until Sunday night, which will mean a pretty late submission. Now that doesn't have to be a bad thing. It just means more time to make it all purdy.
I'll be spending a lot of time navigating to one of the rim-worlds with my companion of a girlfriend. So, just as long as don't insist on gabbing my ears off the whole time, I should be able to do lots of thinking to make sure this job is done right. Doma?

peppersagooddog

man, i was really hoping to get a great Vegas shirt out of this one, but i'm not seein it. if you have the mad skilz out there im in for 3.

lilacjive

The cogs shirt that got rejected sounds like it'll work well with this. They should resubmit that for this one.

You could technically try to squeeze your "luke kim in the red light district" idea into this topic.

what could it hurt? hours of wasted time designing it only to have it rejected

it's cool...i've got an idea i want to submit directly to woot, so i'll probably just do that unless i can think of something more directly fitting this theme.

Oooh, I LIKE this.

First idea that came to my mind was a bunch of old people (aka snowbirds) flapping their arms to fly south for the winter.

Hello, my name is Andrea, and it's been 2 hours since my last shirt...

If I could draw like James I would.

I might try it anyway, but I'd need to scan it in at my moms house.

Answer.com's definition of Globe: A sphere on the surface of which is a map of the world. so yes, it's a map. However, I think it needs to be clarified that if we use a globe in midst of the design, not as the primary design, that we are not penalized for it.

I'm afraid the idea I just came up with, might be subconsciously ripping off a Far Side cartoon. I suppose I'll run it by you all tomorrow, before I submit it. Do we have any Far Side experts here?

That probably would have been a good one in the last/patterns derby also.

nice... different. I don't know how it's totally related to travel... but it's on black...

Yet, I don't know how it would make sense on any other color...
