PhilSandifer wrote:Nonsense. This looks nothing like ramyb's work.

On the other hand, it is a dead-ringer for sekiyoku.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Definitely NOT ramyb. It was even more obvious with the other two entries by ramyb also in the derby.

Maybe you can change one little thing and resubmit for The Sea derby...

It would be better black on white, though that would take away from the allusion to the demotivational posters. Still a great shirt though. Nothing wrong with some simplicity as long as the idea is still novel.

Guntasaurus wrote:I'm just really confused by this whole design.

Why would a fish need a treadmill?

How would it even register on the treadmill because the fish is swimming OVER and ABOVE it???

Why would the other fish be upset at the first fish anyway?

And why would the fish say it RAN 27 miles? It was swimming, if anything.

Is 27 miles a reference to a marathon? , because a marathon is 26.2 miles.

This is just way to random.

1)That's the point. It's useless. It's completely obvious and you're just posting this to make a negative impact on Sekiyoku.
2)That's the point. It wouldn't. It's completely obvious and you're just posting this to make a negative impact on Sekiyoku.
3)They're together. Thus 'honey'. It's completely obvious and you're just posting this to make a negative impact on Sekiyoku.
4) That's the point. It wouldn't. It's completely obvious and you're just posting this to make a negative impact on Sekiyoku.

Sorry if the post seems a little redundant, but it's apparent that you're just avoiding the obvious on purpose.

I'm surprised this one didn't make it into the fog. I definitely consider it the most original. It's got three different ideas rolled together (and with each passing day it becomes more relevant). I would definitely buy it.

I'd love to have this even after 2012 because then it REALLY becomes ridiculous. It would be like how it is to see y2k koi now. I can't help but laugh.

I think the shirt rocks and if it were made into a shirt I would sooooo buy it. I'd wear it to the gym and my personal trainer sessions.

Thanks for the comments!

I first had it without the circle, but thought it needed something extra. I should have resubmitted a second one without the circle, but by the time I figured out (I think) that you can submit more than one design (yes? I'm still not 100% sure) the derby was closed to more entries.

Anyway, thanks for the nice comments! (And first comments too;))

Vote!

No no NO. "You'se guys" is strictly Philly. Brooklyn is "you guys". If you want to ask more than one person a question, we NuYawkers say "all of you", not y'all. While " you all" or "y'all" is equivalent to "all of you" , "all y'all" is redundant.

no, you implied its what i meant. if i meant it, i'll say so, esp considering hate is one hell of a strong word.

Re: My Problem

I love this design.

Wearing a damn t-shirt isn't about art anyways, it's about what I want to wear.

I hear a lot of the same arguments in the webcomic areas, that those who just do a humor comic are not real artists, and should not be appreciated for any of their work. The people who tend to make those comments are those who, in the end, are unable to sell their product!

Rather than blast this guy because you think his designs are no good, learn from the fact that his designs SELL. Make your designs wittier, more interesting, and fun. I hope this shirt wins in the derby, because I want to buy it.

Personally I have passed over quite a few 'artistic' designs because they were boring or pretentious... and not even a little bit clever.

Just.. get over yourselves. Clearly people want to buy this shirt; clearly we are all a bunch of uneducated monkeys with no sense of taste. Course, taste is all subjective.. if you don't like the design then move on, but stop berating the designer just because he made something that will sell. The whole point of the Woot derby is to make a shirt that will sell.. not one that has certain artistic merit. You lose, Hax here wins.

inhales sharply and creates suction to be a loser, huh? Stop whining about it, design shirt that appeals to the average customer on Woot, or stop designing here.

even though this isn't one of your bests ramy, (cards and genesis were cool) i would prefer/buy this over what's left in the fog. =\ plus pink and green are a nice color combination. so much asphalt/navy. hope this gets an HM. ^_^

it's too bad those nice looking designs don't win or else you'd be making more of those entries, huh? =P keep making what the masses want.

I love the shirt. Shame about the copyright. I don't understand the law but I thought there was some kind of exception, satire/parody distinction for copyright.

I totally understand woot not inviting a sh#^storm by accepting the ton of these kinds of shirts that pop up and its just not what Woot is, which is cool; I wouldn't want that fire.

But these kind of shirts are great; I wish there was a good site like Woot for them so they wouldn't just die (I suppose there's Cafepress, which admittedly I've never bought from). As a side note -- I saw a pretty cool case where a small time comic book creator made a mock logo of starbucks (consumer wh@$e logo) and they rained all sorts of koi down on him. He won rights to making the image (freedom of speech) but he wasn't allowed to sell it as it might tarnish Starbucks' image, as customers might confuse the starbucks logo with a 'consumer wh@$e' logo of a mermaid on the cell phone with a money sign on her head, cell phone, and different words and font. Anyways:
