No, 4th place is not automatic. It didn't get a mention because the folks who pick didn't deem it worthy.

I'll stop here.

So, are the honorable mentions purely editor's choice?

I'm just wondering.

Yes, as far as I know. Most weeks, they're picked by woot staff, and I usually like many of their selections. Once they were picked by Adam Koford.

Thanks for the HM, Woot!

But there has to be some sort of terrible mistake, as Saint Bernard is nowhere to be seen up there!

This... Times a THOUSAND.

You HAVE to be kidding... That's utter scaffolding.

Words can not describe how disappointed I am.

Looking for a (preferred) unworn / unwashed Dystopia Dark Lager to buy / trade... Will trade multiple shirts for it. Also looking for Robocopper to trade.

stasiabaysha has both... yet no response from teetrade... hoping he / she'll turn up here.

Agreed! What the hell!?!?? I REALLY did not see that coming. That one really deserved an HM. I'm sad now =(

Other than that, excellent choices. The box turtles were cute but I liked Bass's Nurse Sharks better. Funnier and more creative. And I seriously cannot wait for the day that Nose Hares prints... because I know it will...

This isn't up for voting anymore but I just like having this little dude in my signature =)

I agree. I loved that one. Some really good HM's though.

Congrats to DianaSprinkle on Rugrats getting up there, it was (imho) one of the prettiest designs

I draw things! | feel free to call me "xaz" or "xazy", I'm down with that.

I also would liked to have seen these guys as Honorable Mentions:

Pinot Noir by RiffMaster18
Deer Hunter by rglee129
Steel Wool by Taninniver

What a shame!

Some great picks in here! Really liked the ones from parrotworks, tgentry, omnitarian and kenduque especially, though every pick in here is a well done design. Congrats everyone!

Please vote!

soooo...it is only HMs that go into the second chance derby, and 4th place finishers are destined for...nothing...unless the creator does something with them AFTER woot's option expires?

Yup. Sometimes 4th place gets an HM, sometimes it doesn't. But the only ones in the doubletake derby are the HMs.

coffeeshop26

no dandy lion - bummer. That shirt killed it!

Duddles86

I can't believe Arose from the Dead didn't make it. It was such stunning artwork. I agree with others above. I'm sad that Saint Bernard and Dandy Lion aren't here.

Aw, thanks everybody. Coming in 10th place is the highest I've ever gotten, with over 500 votes too! Your support really meant a lot to me.

I'll be hanging on to this design and I'll make a post in the forums here if it ever becomes available to purchase.

Some cynical people would say "because it sucked", but I wouldn't want to steal their thunder.

I'm also baffled as to the lack of st. bernard. Probably woot knew it was too good for their consumer base and let it off the hook to be shopped places that would eventually respect it after 60 days.

And I still think catacombs would have been the far better selection over rugrats, even if the designer and I have some glaring differences of opinion as to what "respectability" means.

Love for a design mixed with passive aggressive woot bashing.

Wheeee, let's all be passive aggressive! GOLLY, SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH ADDER, wait it's me! OH NO!

However do agree on Catacombs... but I'd rather get it back so I can make prints, shirts, and actual combs. =D Good luck Rugrats, a design suggested by Bassanimation!

Me too. Really, really wanted Arose from the dead.

Andrius27

No "Assault and Battery"? Boo. That should have been a no-brainer for this list. Stupid popcorn chicken. Get this one printed somewhere, Boots!

Actual combs would be cool, not that I have the hair for it.

I think the actual combs would have to be more of a decorative piece than a practical instrument, but that's okay because I'd totally hang one on my wall if it was big enough (sort of like how people will frame and hang Japanese fans, though I am nowhere near fancy or fiscally endowed enough for that at this time).

Or really small and make earrings out of them. I've got no more wall space for art, but I'm a sucker for earrings.

Actually, doubletake derbies sometimes have a few entries that weren't originally HM'd.

Normally these are things of either decent, respectable quality, or things that were so far down the barrel no one will notice them.

Not that those two qualities don't happen together often at this site.

Fact is, tho, I believe it's been rare for a fourth-place finisher that wasn't HM'd to find its way into the do-over. Probably, as I said before, because people like voting for absolute garbage.

Eeeeenteresting. Which I guess explains why Woot keeps the rights for 60 days even if a design isn't HM'd. But peculiar.

Oh, wait. This is Woot. Nevvamind the peculiar.

RUGRATS! I love those guys. You did such a nice job with them, I would have made them all cornbally looking...or perhaps DESU. You know how I love desu-rats with adorable beady eyes, my house is *full* of them afterall. (no really, it is)

I'm looking forward to voting for the Whippet again. I was all set to purchase that guy. The Saint Bernard was also really great. I think there's definately going to be some surprises from the Woot staff in the 2nd Chance .

I was thinking of starting small with pendents or earrings and maybe making a larger one just to see what they looked like as an art piece. Not sure if I could do actual hair combs but I'd really like to.

Wow so they randomly pick entries as well. That's kind of cool and odd. I guess it keeps things interesting when you don't know all the submissions ahead of time.

@xazothia - Thanks for the nice comment, I really like the way the rugrats image turned out as well. I still have to finish the painting it's based on.

Congrats to all the HM receivers!

I also feel the need to mention my surprise and disappointment at not seeing the Saint Bernard up here.

It was excellent across the board.

oh gosh thanks woot staff/woot community!! spaghetti western was my first t-shirt design ever and therefore my first woot derby design ever too and i am pleased to see that it is appreciated!

congratulations to all of the other honorable mention winners and good luck in the double-take derby - there are some great designs here!
