Obviously a reference to "Pandemic 2".

Isn't it a reference to "Risk?" Which was not originally a video game.

I would like it better if it wasn't just a square image on a shirt, maybe fade it or something?

No, pretty sure it's about Pandemic. otterific game, really. Played it many times. And if you don't infect Madagascar in the first few turns of the game then you won't be able to win, because they close their borders immediately and there's no way to introduce your virus to them.

Re: Velociraptors

@Hammylink: Yes, yay for the fog, indeed :-D

@Darquis: Well, the white rider can be interpreted as "Pestilence" or "Conquest". Per the biblical text, he is given a bow and a crown, and "rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest." (Rev. 6:1-2 NIV) I believe the bow represents plague and pestilence in Greek mythology. The black rider holds the scales, depicting the weighing and measuring of food in time of famine.

@Drakxxx: Thanks! Still workin' on my color skillz. Maybe someday I'll be a color master like CrescentDebris ;-)>

@YinofYang: 'S funny, b/c I like XKCD, but I must have missed the velociraptor strips...? Feel free to enlighten me!

parrotworks wrote:Irritating Adder. Priceless.

There's a problem with having it both ways. Certainly, they are intended to be celebrity likenesses, but if the likenesses are good, then there's no implied homophobia, since it's the Beck-Colbert combination specifically that's nausea-inducing. AND, the picture itself doesn't show that. It's only because the theme is "The end of the world" that we know there's an end-of-the-world implication.

So, technically, the shirt is actually off-topic because it's quite wearable as a joyous pride shirt celebrating same-sex marriage. Now, whether the designer intended that is another question.

scosal wrote:Icons depicting the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse on Asphalt:
- Conquest/Pestilence (with the Bow and Crown) on a White horseshoe
- War (with the Sword) on a fiery Red horseshoe (PMS 185 C and PMS 1505 C)
- Famine (with the decaying Scales) on a Black horseshoe
- Death (with the Scythe and Bones) on a Pale Green horseshoe (PMS 578 C)

I was originally going for the look of the "Rock Band" icons (all four in a straight line), but liked this layout better once it was done.

Side note: If you saw last week's "Into the Great Unknown" with the little girl and the dog going adventuring, that was my wife's. Since she started using my account to submit derby entries, I had to submit this one under her account (because our two drawing styles do not live in the same world!)

I'd be interested to see what the 'Rock Band' layout actually looks like. It probably wouldn't be great for the shirt since the icons would be smaller, and the detail more difficult to see... but I'm wondering if you have a copy of the in-a-row design.

otterific design, btw. I would also really be interested in a set of shirts, each with one symbol...

Thank you! And yes, I have been on a mouse kick. ^^; Sorry for that. I loves me some rodents, so sometimes my art sways towards them. I also love monsters, but the derby themes haven't lent themselves very well to monstery stuff lately. I was very happy to see this theme so I could make something weird and freaky.
