Uh-oh. Our CEO got his hands on a map showing a big pink area to the north of the United States. Then he figured out we haven’t shipped any t-shirts up there. Fury flashed in his eyes as he raged, “Why don’t we own this? WHY DON’T WE OWN THIS?”

So now our tentacles are creeping northward. Beginning at midnight tonight, Shirt.Woot will sell and ship t-shirts to Canada. Our Great White Northern cousins will be the only subjects of the British Crown to enjoy the full rights and privileges of Shirt.Woot membership. It’ll work pretty much the same way things work for the Yanks – you clicka the button, we senda the shirt – with a few caveats:

  • We cannot offer a free shipping option to Canada, nor an overnight shipping option. Shipping will always be US$5, and always via the Canadian equivalent of SmartPost. Sorry, but at least you guys get free health care.
  • You won’t really be able to track your shipment. We ship all Canada-bound packages to a sorting center in New Jersey, where they are loaded onto a fleet of dog sleds for Canadian distribution. Alas, the dog sleds are not yet equipped with Wi-Fi.
  • The other Woot sites still cannot sell to Canada, due to an arcane web of regulations, duties, customs, tariffs, enchantments, and curses – even though these rules failed to protect the United States from Celine Dion.

So welcome to the shirt-fold, Canada! Take advantage of that muscular loonie with stylish and functional Shirt.Woot wear, perfect for everywhere from the curling sheet to the poutine shack. Unfortunately, we can only accept payment in U.S. dollars, and not in the form of bacon, hockey pucks, or improvisational comedians.

Finally!

But one note: T-shirts are really only viable 4 months out of the year here. Perhaps you should also start printing on thicker garments to accommodate us?

Also: dear god how long are they going to take to get here? If normal post from the states takes an additional week once it reaches the border, will "smartpost" take fortnights? months? years?

Well, the way they ship it to me it usually goes through California and Florida and other random out-of-the-way states and takes 2-3 weeks to get here (New Hampshire) from there (Texas, i believe.)

I would also enjoy warmer clothing, Woot.

So when can I start buying Woot shirts here in Bolivia? All postage is slow here, so that should fit right in with SmartPost.

I am thoroughly excited about this t-shirt design. I wonder how many times we'll see Jim Carrey's face. Ooohh maybe a naked John Candy using Canada as a blanket. I think I'll design that one. No one steal that idea.

I do believe you meant "ship," and not what was replaced by shillelagh, St-Pats-appropriate as it may be.

Cool! One thing though: The status on my beta-test shirt still doesn't show as shipped. Was this just a ruse to bilk me out of a free shirt??

It often takes 3-5 business days for me to get a shipment notice for regular post. Give it a couple days.

Has anyone been able to make this work yet?

I tried to order one, but it won't let me pick a Canadian Province from the drop down menu.

I tried emailing support, but they haven't gotten back to me, and now the shirt I wanted is sold out.

Support got back to me and said that it's all a lie to launch a derby (er, a "beta test"), and that we'll actually be able to order later this week.

Why would you want woot stuff sent there? Because you like what they're offering.

It stands to reason that is precisely why you'd order a shirt from them. Surely many of us (and definitely myself included) found woot for the clothing end... it's not hard to justify a new shirt for $10... it's much harder to justify a new gadget for $100

I think you might be confused about what this means. You can now buy woot SHIRTS, which means that it WILL be sent to you in Toronto. It'll just take a long time. I live in Edmonton, Alberta - it takes about 4 weeks, I think.

Note that this is only for shirts. The regular woot site is still US only.

No, I am not confused. I'll be more than freggin happy to wear a w00t shirt if they allow for shipping to Canada for w00t stuff. No sense supporting w00t when they can't support Canadians in getting awesome gadget deals.

I can't seem to buy a shirt I want (the madness of miss stereo), it won't let me choose the province for my billing address. I tried with several browsers multiple times, but it's just not working. I tried emailing the support but they haven't answered me yet and I really don't want to miss that t-shirt. Is anyone else having the same problem?

The problem seems relatively new since I already bought a t-shirt before from woot and it worked fine.

Taken from another thread, hope it helps:

mrileyatwoot wrote:If you're trying to register and fill out all the information (both required and optional), this could be where you're experiencing the problem. We are working on getting this fixed however in the meantime you can just enter the required information for registration (which should just be the username, email address and password), then you can put the rest in once you have completed the registration process and go to make the purchase.

If you need further assistance, feel free to write us at service@woot.com. Thanks for Wooting!
