Re: Trick or Treat Terror
If you redid the design, why wasn't this one taken down?
IndependentVik wrote:A little late to the party. I was avoiding the site after Friday's daily thread devolved into ridiculousness. This has to be the ballsiest resub I've ever seen. Is your ability to judge originality seriously damaged in some way? Because if not, the only way to read this is contempt for the rejectionator in a way that no printed derbyist has ever displayed. I'm actually puzzled at this point as to which possibility is the truth.
Can someone point me to the shirts like this that DON'T look like they were designed in the 1940's of for my grandmother, please?
This is a great design. I love the rough hatching. It has my vote. I hope it goes to the top.
kender42 wrote:...but the first shirt I have seen with this design and still fun.
I agree. You may see a pumpkin throwing up on a porch somewhere, but on a shirt? It's a great design. It is a bit simple, but still quality.
ajsweedl wrote:these criticisms are ridiculous. Such a literal interpretation. The symbolism of the heart in the floorboards is fantastic. The shirt is simple and yet it reminds me of so many details of the outrageous old man. It's a superb halloween shirt!
I agree! I live in Baltimore, where Edgar Alan Poe is buried and believe me, we've see a lot of shirts inspired by his literary works. I would so buy this shirt. It has my vote.

I think it's very clear what's going on
Re: flu-like symptoms
shouldn't the placement be more up on the chest? The alien never rested in the host's abdomen. (otherwise, I love it)
Re: We Carves People
I liked the original, but I really, really, really, really, really, really love it with the fixed up speech bubbles. I haven't wanted a shirt this badly in a very long time - I'm excited for this one!!
Duddles86 wrote:If you like this shirt, can I suggest this link to you. I am blown away by the creativity of a non-black cat in a pumpkin. It's so original. I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. EDIT: I fixed the second link to show the image this looks too much like. I'll also post it here.
I looked through 12 pages of Zazzle tshirts. I found 2 that had a cat IN a pumpkin. And neither of those were in a style I find appealing enough to wear. Anyone?
Re: Zombie Vampire Robots from Space
for some reason, it reminds me of this: and as others have said, I would LOVE this on a different color. ANY other color. Regardless, I hope this does well.
littlejonny wrote:Maybe its just me, but I never think too hard about designs like everybody else with their technicalities, if I can understand what the artist is trying to get across I am fine with it.
I totally agree with you. Why the harsh critiques? It's for a t-shirt. Lay off a bit.
Re: The Halloween Tree
I agree with other users on the gray color. It makes the shirt look like my grandma would wear it.
Re: The Early Years
The story of a mild mannered little boy who will eventually grow up to decapitate people.
Re: [url=http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=36239]What's Red
Come on over to Where-Zombies-Shop for the latest fashions! A zombie would totally wear this shirt. Yeah right!
Re: Go Out Prepared!
Haha, very funny! The geek in me loves the "Ag" ^_^
Re: Four Score and Seven Zombies: Resub
LOL! Hilarious!
beso0282 wrote: It's for a t-shirt.
It's for a thousand dollars.
Re: The Monster Bash resub!
No real changes to the design- but a different thumbnail at the suggestion of Chennai8, who said the old thumbnail suggested the design would be "just some pretty anime girl. Thanks for the tip, Chennai8- I hope this thimbnail better conveys the gritty and dark power-punch pulp fest I'm going for.
Re: He's right behind us, isn't he
Mmmm...a few things, Ramyb. 1. I'm sad to see you reverted back to chibi animals (which are cute--just not in mass amounts) when you showed a bit more promise in the National Park derby. Surely two rejections didn't snuff out any real attempt this time around? 2. The expression on the dog's face is...okay. It has that dead-eyed zombie look but it's hard with the little details to see. I think it would be funnier if maybe the dog was sniffing the cat with a hungry look on his face. 3. I liked it better when they were on the stoop. 4. Can you draw anything else but rabbits, cats, and dogs? Okay, that's my critique. I'm sure this will sell a lot of kid-sized shirts if it places.
Re: Till Death Do Cat and Keys Part
Eerie and cool. +1
Thanks for the comments, everyone! And big thanks to everyone who made suggestions. I think I incorporated most of them in some way. You were all a big help. @Kyle - "Guts" was a nice idea. If $4 is all you're charging, I can totally swing that. ;)
Re: BRAINS!
Fantastic design!
omnitarian wrote:Sweet work, just some constructive crit.
I really appreciate you breaking it down for me... I always love a crit, especially when I'm trying out new things! <3 Thanks for your generous feedback, guys.
Re: Batbear
I really just wanted more woot shirt with bears on it :D And I mean COME ON! Bear in Batman costume!!
I like the heather gray, grandma or not. ;)
LOL! This is a great design!
Re: Snack Time
Your color use is great. I love how gory yet comical the design is.
Re: Trick AND Treat
It's not Halloween without Ninjas!
slhampel wrote:The man in the moon looks suspiciously like Groucho Marx. :-) GMV.
might be Harpo wearing a costume...
sakleehop wrote:Woot references will be rejected.
It's not a woot reference. Its an exclamation point regarding excitement over candy corn.
Tried to read the heated debate, decided I didn't care. Love the bunnies, love the kitty (haven't seen the others) *and* I had no problem judging the dog as a zombie without reading the thread, so wasn't that hard for someone who isn't trying to tear someone else apart to see what's up. Lots of shirts get printed that I dislike, but that's how it goes. +1 for me. ::shrugs:::
Re: A Healthy Snack
With the growing health concerns of eating teenager head pizza, Freddy decides a change in diet is in order. You've got my vote!
Re: the flavor of the season
Great design. It's chilling, yet you can see the passion between the woman and vampire. GTV

He may be a loner, but he manages to make my belly happy on Halloween!
Re: Ghost
I kinda looks like Voldemort.
Gorgeous and striking. Love that you stuck with a limited palette.

Wait. I have to add...um... *says in small voice* I'd buy one if it places. *hides from Adder*
Ho my blood! this is perfect! Great use of color and negative space! I LOVE IT
