Much thanks capedcrusader - nice to hear.

Thanks very much spiritgreen. I was experimenting with textures and highlighting for a while, but it just looked better with less... I like how you said it!

Love your reflected colors from Oz onto the ground and the river. Something about this combo feels like a wonderful, childlike daydream.

Nice work!
I would have preferred to see Moby "Not-Jane" win the exchange by swallowing the Nautilus.

This hits the mark of the derby theme, but I would not purchase a shirt depicting a harpooned whale.

Oh wait... I just looked at it again in another perspective, and realize maybe what I thought was half a smile is the throat? Which is a lot better, though my mind keeps going back to the smile. Anyway, still think it is fabulous, and adore the owl and pussycat

I know you were having trouble with the colors for a bit. Nice decision.

What's the element of the bottom left? Coral?

I'm a bit confused if this is supposed to be above or below the ocean (although that may be the idea. ^_^ )

Still channeling the Zap style a little bit, and that's a very good thing here.

Re: Treasure Island/ The Sign of the Spider

Thanks so much guys! I was working flat out, right up to the wire on this.

I loved the idea of a spider making his own sticky rigging and sailing around catchin' fireflies.

Can someone clear up for me whether this is a Spirate or a Pider?

Funny thing is, I originally was just going to have him mourn the loss of his hand. But it wasn't terribly dramatic having him stare at bony fingers. Then I thought, "What if he finally killed Peter?" All seemed to come together then.

He'll be ok, it's just a scratch. In the next frame the nautilus will be eaten.

Re: Moby not Jane/The Bible

All sillyness aside, Moby not Jane is genuinely dense with biblical allegory. Melville himself did most of the MASH-UP in the text.

Re: alice's adventures in wonderland/Land of Oz

@capedcrusader- Thanks, I'm really happy with how the wood grain came out

@BootsBoots- I'm pretty stoked on the mushrooms, I was looking at a lot of Vaughn Bode stuff while researching for the last derby and I enjoyed how he always drew mushrooms. I thought it would fit with the Wonderland theme.

@litic- I was totally going for that classic storybook illustration look, with the colors.

@shinobamoon- Total badassery is my aim

@kylemittskus- Sometimes it really helps to just walk away from a design and color it later. After a good night's sleep, it all just made sense.

@Spiritgreen- I'm officially in love with the Zap Comix style. It actually lines up pretty well with my graffiti roots, so I'm having fun with it for now. I think my assessment of my drawing skills has quite a bit to do with me always being surrounded by people who are super talented. I know my limitations and really try to play to my strengths.

I understand but I wanted the shirt to stand alone too bc the theme this week is kinda random and you either need to make the connection extremely obvious or very subtle, i went with subtle.
