llandar wrote:TO CLARIFY SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RULES:

You should follow the stylistic guidelines of your Derby of choice, i.e. if you choose "Propaganda" you need to make a piece of propaganda.

You should only follow the additional Woot rules of Derby #148, so things like "No Videogames" don't apply this time around.

Anyway!

This was a requested shirt by JesseBYAH some time ago after the vintage derby...
"Hey! Since you did a seal of approval, please do a dissaproving rabbit: http://www.disapprovingrabbits.com
"Bunny of dissaproval" perhaps? Haha I couldnt resist, i have two bunnies, and they ALWAYS dissaprove. Its the dardest thing"Bunny of dissaproval" perhaps? Haha I couldnt resist, i have two bunnies, and they ALWAYS dissaprove. Its the dardest thing"

I made the design and there wasn't really a derby it fit until now (yay!) and here it is!

HOORAY! I'll post some pictures of my bunnies as soon as I get a chance. Thanks Jas!

Thanks guys I thought it was a cute idea and was excited to work on it, and was glad to have the extra time this week (I definitely was swamped and wouldn't have been able to finish this if the theme went up yesterday afternoon)

Aww, this is really nice looking. I love how you did the little mouse's fur texture. The fork and the tin can lid are great little touches.

Maybe I'm reading the rules wrong but, "No copyrighted material" means no pop culture no matter how much parody.

The No Copyrighted Material is a substance rule, though, not opinion. That rule is there to prevent woot from getting sued, not because they're tired of people riding the popularity of really old video games to derby wins.

This isn't exactly what the shells look like, nor are they actually turtles. Woot has never allowed copyrighted material in theory, but specifically stated that video game references are fine this derby, which is what I would say this entry falls under.

Re: Derby #132 Heart: Emotional Metal

Why does the greatest love become the greatest pain? Life is but one heartbreak after another! Just kidding, this robot could be mourning anything! It might just be his old hard drive down there! Or maybe his former creator after he destroyed him!! Nah, this guy's definitely no murderer; he is far too cute for that (no robo-meat popsicle). He is just so hurt by his loss that he's ripping out his heart to stop the pain. Or is he? You decide the meaning of this shirt, it's open to interpretation!

Actually I was unsure about that so I cleared the rule with a member of Woot staff before I even started. So long as there's parody pop-culture subjects are A-okay this week.

That makes very little sense to me. Pop culture is always banned without parody so there's no reason to have an extra rule about it if you aren't banning it wholesale.

Fair enough, I guess, if that's what they said.

Is this enough parody though? It just looks like "POW! Darth Vader for the win!"

It's kind of funny I guess, but it also seems a bit pandery and lazy too.
