Yes, I think was a bad move to take down the first version who was in the fog, (I learn the lesson) but I really prefer this!

So if you vote for the first version, I hope to vote for this one too!

Don' t miss it!

Why is it negative 3 miles to Roswell? Why not 3? Or is that a joke about the whole Roswell thing that I'm just not getting...I'm not really an alien geek...

Thanks for all the comments everyone. This theme is wacky as all anything, but it was fun trying to do something that was "me" within it's guidelines.

g00mbaypunch wrote:Hey what are you using to get that particle fade in the background? Is that something that can be done in photoshop? Or is it like an illustrator thing?

Yeah, that's a halftone effect, and can be done in photoshop. The person's post above mine pretty much explains how to go about it.

Mr. CMDixon is, in my opinion the halftone master around here, and if you were looking to do anything more advanced with it, he's be the guy to ask.

Yes! I figured Cricket would be both more discernible and more unique than baseball.
The 8 sports are Cricket, Football/Rugby, Tennis, Hockey, Bowling, Jai Lai (admittedly easier to draw than a lacross stick), badminton, and discus/frisbee.

Editor's note: don't ever try to catch a discus.

Actually, I think it's an outline of where the earth was before 2012.

I was only able to see it by tilting my laptop screen toward me 45 degrees.

time for the nebz to face off, the Star DOWN weeds out the weakest of the nebulae -only one nebula can claim the Van ALLEN belt of the UNIVERSE - (ET is 'earth time' starting from the end of the earth in 2012, and counting forward since)

LOVE it! I don't like soccer, and even I really dig this simple, effective shirt. Plus anything promising serious bodily injury, a "sport" defined by the late George Carlin, is a win in my book.

It's been made pretty clear as of late that neither Woot, Wooters, or artists follow the rules as closely as some of us would like...

I have no idea if this is a copyright violation. I could swear I've seen Space Invaders tee art on other sites, but I might be mistaken. :\

I hate both and I appreciate your lack of pandering. However, the theme is basically soccer in space. You put a soccer ball and the word "intergalactic" on a shirt. Can't get much more standard and boring than that.

It's not a copyright violation as far as I know- I believe those shapes have been in the public domain for a bit now (but don't quote me on that).

It is, though, pretty clearly a violation of Woot's rules this week. Space Invaders wasn't invented by this artists, and thus it's pretty clearly a "previously established fictional universe." fakon.

Tis true. The staff put the rule in place I'm sure to prevent an overflow of Star Wars and other obvious references. Space Invaders is obviously Space Invaders. Nothing else looks like them. God forfend some of you people come up with something yourselves.

This entry is extreme failure, and I hope tomorrow it will be out of the race.

The examples in the writeup are from widely known, richly developed scifi worlds. I think mostly they didn't want a bunch of SyFy channel and StarWars (plz no more for awhile) remix shirts. Then again, Halo is also referenced...

It'll be another staff call, but if this shirt's been up since the beginning of the derby they're probably leaving it.

Personally I think they were pretty all encompassing with their description of what they wanted. They didn't say no stories, epics, feature length films. They said nothing from a previously created universe. That's a pretty all encompassing phrase since anything previously created inhabits it's own universe. Also I don't think the lack of rejection so far is any indication of what they will or won't reject as they haven't done any rejections so far.

I don't know Paigeg. There is a touch of tough girl pinup art to Kasey's design. There may be some guys who vote/buy it for that.

Ah, I see. I haven't been able to watch the derby from the start, so I hadn't noticed there were no rejections. :\

They probably should have been more forceful with the writeup by excluding any pop culture refs at all. You do have a point that anything previously created inhabits it's own universe. That is very sweeping..and pretty well would exclude any and all pop references.

My brain aches.... We'll have to see what they do :/. I kind of agree with you, but it's a matter of how far they're taking their own rule. I mean, we had two bunnies last derby that stayed around til the end, and it was a 'no bunnies' derby ^^;. (cool as they were)

Yeah when it comes to rejections the only certainties are there are no certainties. Rejection, non-rejection. Neither would surprise me.

Re: YOU!

Hi Laponcha! I see you resubmitted, but I still see 2 problems. First, it looks like you are using a gradient in the transition from yellow to brown. Woot cannot print gradients, but they can print half tones, if they are large enough.

The second problem is that your shirt color and your thumbnail background are different. Woot normally rejects shirts when that happens, since you need to see on both what the shirt will look like.

This is going to sound like a pain, but you need to resubmit again. You need to change either your shirt color or you thumbnail background. Then you need to address the brown/yellow border. If it is half tones, it would be good to post a close up picture to show woot how you did it. If it isn't, you need to either change the border to a more solid division or to half tones.

Keep up the good work!
