Rejected in the woodcuts derby. Different artist listed, but may be a pseudo.

YEAH! That was it! That was my second derby ever and I remember it getting rejected. If it IS another artist, Shame on you, but if it's a psuedo you need to fess up.

PS~ Thanks for finding that, it was drivng me crazy!

I thought maybe it was acceptable, because I saw several other shirts with test tubes and things like that on them. Hopefully I don't get cut!

this is a cool idea.. if you get cut then they would have to give a bunch of others the axe also.

Re: a lot in common

You broke the cardinal rule of shirt design! Again! ;) Actually, I'm sure more science-minded people would get it immediately. It's been awhile since I've seen the TCAG's. Glad it's doing well for you.

Mattcom, the way your beautiful ladies always sneak into these derbies is one of my favorite things!

I love this design a lot. The colors, the flow, the theme. Gorgeous.

kaleidoscopicfailure wrote:hahaha the ONE element no one thought of! 'tis simply AWESOME!! It would always look like wolverine's behind me, I think you could compliment it with unobtainium, and a Navi arrow through the chest...

your ideas are better, nice job BDog!

I like the way you think, but I don't think an arrow would convey the Avatar reference. Maybe a blue kitty-monkey getting sliced in half by the claws? Or Wolverine cutting down the big tree, but I don't want to get morbid, though.

Thanks,
B-Dog

He already fessed up on submitting it under another name. He is a friend of mine, which is why I jumped to his defense earlier.

I really liked it the first time, when it was just the fish on blue. Sucked that it was rejected that time as there wasn't anything about it that couldn't have been achieved in a woodcut. I'm pretty impressed it was tracked down.... granted, that derby wasn't forever ago, but it was still a good find.

Nothing follows.

We all know the "Boom-Chica-Wow-Wow" soundtrack that pops in your head when you have chemistry with that special someone. On the farm, it's "Brown-Chicken-Brown-Cow"

This design is beautiful. It reminds me of the Line Spectrum when you burn various types of gases. In fact, you may have just given me an idea for this derby...

hahhahahaha oohhh can they attach a speaker so it plays the song when you touch the shirt?? I feel if you wear that 8-bit would have to be playing at ALL times.

Did you remember it getting rejected because it was so totally awesome and you were depressed that you wouldnt be able to own it on a shirt?

This is my favorite caffeine molecule shirt! Unlike the one someone else posted in this thread, this one is less confusing but makes its point. The other one was way too busy and noisy and I'd never buy it - this one I would. Great work! GMV.

My interpretations:

8 - It's a cutesie misspelling of "Oh, hi." Do a Google image search, and you'll find lots of pictures of cats demonstrating its usage.
34 - I think this is just a phonetic spelling out of the letters.
45 - You got it.
47 - A term from online multi-player games, alerting one's group that one is being attacked or is about to initiate an encounter.
57 - Preceded by "Do Re Mi Fa So".
66 - "Die, monster!" I think.
77 - I think we're back to cutesie kittens here, but I'm not sure.
78 - There may not be anything to get here; it could just be that "Pt" brought to mind "SPIT". Or I'm not getting it either. I kind of wish he'd gone with "Pt BARNUM", personally.
81 - It's actually "Tl DR", more internet slang, a favorite of the growing ranks of the functionally illiterate: "Too long; didn't read."
108 - I.e., "Hiss! Boo!"
114 - I'm lost on this one, too. Could maybe be Dutch, or imitating "ook-ook" ape noises, or a reference to the bit character Ook-Ook from The Venture Bros.

Bad ideas free; brilliant ideas by derangement.

Re: Golden Union

There's a lot of stuff going on here, and I know some people might worry that there's hidden messages that one wouldn't want to wear...so let me clear some things up. The symbols at the top all relate to elements which were thought vital to the practice of Alchemy, including Gold, Silver, Iron, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Lead, Antimony, Water, and Fire.

The initials at the bottom spell out Flamel, of course, and next to that is his best friend...whom I sure I don't need to spell out.

Thanks for looking!
