It's had the most time on the sales chart, and pretty artwork doesn't have the staying power or appeal of a joke or cute design. Very little to do with the blank.

Did you read the thread about the teeturtle shirts that are rips from Woot artists? If not, you might want to do so. Supporting an artist who steals isn't something I can do, and the purchase of ANY design does just that.

You're assuming that the average tadpole wants a beautiful picture on his chest. I promise you if you poll 15 people Jay Walking style to rank Spelling Bee, Yggdrasil Tree, and Lucky at Last (Pop, Art, and Kawai respectivly) in a 1,2,3 order, then totaled, the pop would have a score under 19, and the Art would be over 35. Now Yggdrasil Tree is an example of the power of AA, because we had 3 awesome art shirts this week, and that's the only one that went anywhere.

You do know that the last charted data disproves that? There was a bigger dip for the price change than for the blank change.

My 2 cents: While some of the designs there are close (and one isn't even close) They're also all but one riffing on things that were around before the "stolen" shirt existed. The 'orginal' artists weren't being 'original' in thought, just in design, and it's the thoughts, not the designs, that are being recycled.
For example, I made Zombie Care Bear jokes back in 1988, and heard the Doctor Whooo joke in 1994. I've got a Test from 1985 with a circled C in red ink on it, was the artist blatently ripping me off?
Now, all that said, the Walztman image is to close for comfort because of the broccolli. Other than the food selection though, onion makes people cry is hardly an original idea.

That's not disproof, just alternaproof. That cigarettes kill more people than ebola doesn't means ebola isn't deadly, just that it isn't as prevelant. I do believe there's trending to show blanks matter, it's just taken longer for the full impact of the blank change to filter out there (you need to buy a shirt, realize you don't like the blank, and not purchase a second shirt) than the price change did ( look, price changed!). The true damage of teh black swap will be in teh loss of repeat customers, and the constant influx of new people are going to mask that. What we need to look at is the percentage differance between total sales of all shirts on a monthly basis over the last couple of years.
You'll find the the difference between 1/10 and 2/10 is about the same as 1/11 and 2/11, but that the change between 1/12 and 2/12 is significantly lower. This represents existing customers leaving the brand. And in 14 months, when the support structure has finished erroding, the whole bloody thing will collapse, and everyone will say "but sales were going so well..."

escapecar wrote:For shirts this young, the nine additional sales alone are worth an extra point in DSR for Yggdrasil Tree, and being on sale for one fewer day is worth almost as much. And that's the difference between the two.
For comparisons sake, it takes 28 sales to move the DSR of a veteran shirt that same full point. New shirts have a tremendous mathematical advantage when it comes to calculating the DSR. I'm always a little surprised when fewer than 4 survive the first week.
They have a Mathematical advantage with the raise. They still have to meet the ante though.
Consider two shirts, one vetran coming into this week with a DSR of 20, the other a Sunday foal. To have a DSR of 20 on reckoning Day, Shirt A needs to sell 140 shirts. To have a DSR of 20 on reckoning Day, Shirt B needs to sell 140 shirts. Now imagine those two shirts wanted a DSR of 30. Shirt A needs to sell 420 shirts, Shirt B needs only 210 to reach a DSR of 30.

Depends on which one's you're looking for. Just remember that for every shirt which rises, another shirt must fall!

Apparently you didn't understand the comparisons. That's ramy's false 'cat sleeping' example. If that's what you see, then knock yourself out.

Nope. Consider last week. For all 34 shirts there were 18,744 sales. (O!M!G!) Seven of those were new that week, and they hold the lions share with 11,467 sales. We also reckoned seven shirts, who in total sold 665 shirts. During that same time period The Binge sold only 389. So if that was an average week, we can say that about 2% of the sales are Binge Shirts. So 1 in 50 would be binges. I know I haven't seen 50 shirts in the wild (though I did see 4 in one day at a RPG swap-meet)

The only one she needs to worry about is the INT Ent. Here's what we're seeing:
Mort-vivant - 1042 to 1140 (+98). 7.5 days
Save the Trees - 1189 to 1465 (+276). 15.5 days
She needs a hair more than 50% of the Tree to climb it to safty. She's selling 36 a day, tree's doing 26. So in 4.83 days she'll be around 272, the tree will be at 402. So as long as her sales don't drop off too much she should be safe.
