Hi, I just came across this Zazzle shop http://www.zazzle.com/awesomefunnystuff/gifts?st=date_created#products. It has a bunch of designs from Woot designers on it. A lot look familiar I just can't place them. Walmazan's Nude Cupcake was a top design on Zazzle's main page, that's how I found it.

Yeah, that would be theft.

I see some threadless rip-offs there as well.

Edit:

For extra dose of humor, one of the designs by-she-who-must-not-be-named is for sale:

I have reported a bunch of them. But that whole shop just needs to be taken down.

Thank you for letting us know. I've passed it to the correct people here to take care of it.

Yeah! I have three on there that they're printing. I'm popular >

And this is why I will never buy or support anything on Zazzle or any other print to order sites. WAY to much unchecked blatant stealing.

This store has also stolen my Avengers design that was just up for sale at Qwertee over the weekend! I'm looking for contact information. Does anyone happen to know the email to file a complaint?

Edit: Looks like they stole Celebrate Mediocrity from me as well! I see there is a "Report Violation" button on each design. Reported!

Some have been taken down, but a lot are still up there. Also they gave him another Today's Best for another stolen design "Hurts, Donut".

Family Portrait is now Pluto is not a Planet.

I've never bought from Zazzle. I have used RedBubble, but only when it's artist I am familiar with beforehand.

Wouldn't all of these designs look really bad on a shirt, since the only thing they can possibly have to work with is the small detail file? Or is there some method of thievery that I'm not familiar with (not being a thief and all)?

Also, I think the whole store is shameful. Zazzle should remove it immediately.

I'm not sure how they are getting a decent size file of these designs either. I am a shop owner at Zazzle. It's usually pretty apparent if the design is blurry due to it being made too big. If you click on the customize button and play with the image's they aren't even to their largest size. They are huge and good quality.

I have been reporting them as much as possible.

Things like this really piss me off.

Cotton Armor, Honey Badger, Family Portrait, Egg Nog Drinking Team, Nomcakes, and quite a few others are still up.

I am pretty sure the "designer" is lurking here right now. It looks like some model pics are woot printed shirts. For example, one trick pony on an exact AA brown.

This is so sad, but so common. A few weeks ago, I noticed a steal of Family Portrait from shirtcity, a german (I think) t-shirt shop like zazzle. I contacted them and told I was the designer and all that the rights belonged to woot. They removed the design quite quickly, apologized and banned the user, but I've seen other stolen designs there... It's a pity, and it's also a pity that the administrators accept such designs (the quality of the image must be quite bad...and easily noticeable). And now I've seen that an Asian t-shirt shop also has a stolen version of Family Portrait...just search solar family t shirt on google and there it is... I think this is pretty common... I hope you can solve this problem with zazzle.... I've seen most of the designers here choose redbubble for selling their designs, probably cause it's one of the most serious amongst all those t-shirt sites...

That person's store is nothing but Woot rip-offs. It's so sad. Why create when you can just steal?

For shirts that have printed at woot, I'm guessing that anything we could do would be like wielding matchsticks when woot's lawyers are armed with broadswords.

For shirts whose rights are owned by individual artists and don't have access to woot's legal team - is there anything that we can do? Would it be helpful to have a dozen people report a shirt so it becomes a higher priority for zazzle to review, or is the artist's claim to the IP the only report that matters?

I reported the violations and linked them to my original art. Both of my designs were removed. I hope they take down the rest of the stolen artwork. I'm outraged as an artist and as a consumer who appreciates the work and creativity artists put into their designs.

They don't need the original large file, they only need enough detail from the original to re-render the design at a higher DPI for printing. Only thing I can think of to stymie this activity is invasive watermarking (i.e. something more than just a small "woot.com" logo on the bottom left, which is very easily defeated)

So the store has had a majority of its designs removed. The only rip-off I immediately recognize is Schrodinger's Equation. Also, all the comments were deleted. Ha!

The burger typography is also a rip, isn't it? And I'm sure I've seen the "I [realistic]heart realism" design before somewhere...

This is clearly stealing this concept. I suspect it's sufficiently different that it may not qualify as violating copyright, but I thought woot and Ramy/TeeTurtle should be aware.

Having seen what passes here, the cynical side of me says it's kosher with Woot ... so it'll be up to Ramy to decide, really.

I left a comment on their site. I'm feeling Snarky today. I also love you guys, because we're barking as hard at people stealing Ramy's designs as we did at Ramy...

Rightfully so, we should be. The thing is, some of us here don't see Ramy as a "lost cause", but rather, misguided (still).

Hell, we've even brought up places that have stolen seki's designs (OH THE IRONY!), and many here abso-frickin-lutely despise her. We still flagged them, however, because two wrongs don't make a right.

As we should. The irony certainly occurred to me last night, but as Narfcake said, our principles are the same, regardless of the artist involved. More than that, though, I think it's important that Ramy knows we'll stick up for him when his ideas are stolen, just like we do for other artists, and that we role model ethical behavior. (PS: bounty, send you a facebook friend request; will not be insulted if you choose not to accept!)

I see Ramy as "young;" I'm not sure how old either of you are, but I'm just enough older than Ramy that I know, in some painful detail, how much I've grown up in [the number of years between Ramy's age and mine]. I also know how easy it is to be influenced by people one trusts and loves; let's face it, seki wasn't a great influence.

I don't think I'm quite old enough to be his father, but one never knows.

As for the FB: accepted, and let tha be on your head now :P

I'm not old enough to be his father but that is because I am not male enough to be anyone's father. I realized how old I am compared to many of us here by the year you were born derby. I actually gave enough information in the pre-derby thread for anyone to figure out how old I am.

I am the mother of two wooters who are both in their twenties. I feel old now.....

Oh yeas, I did have a real reason to post here in this thread.

I checked the links in this thread and all of the Zazzle shirts have been taken down.

I wonder, will http://members.woot.com/... come back? I don't need it like I need numbers but it was nice to have.
