Ugh, I actually had to pick a number of shirts not to write up. You people need to stop making some many decent designs or I’ll get carpal tunnel. Also, thanks to those who voted for my own entry and even more thanks to those who gave me ideas/criticisms for it.

Pensketch's Mind Blowing was rejected on the grounds that power lines are not uniquely urban...so why hasn't The City Electric been rejected also? The whole thing is just a row of power lines....

There you are, 5 or 6 or maybe 12 years old, and for the first time, you are enraptured. You're experiencing a city, exploring every corner, avoiding the undesirables, and then, you see it. The skyscraper. You decide to hoof it, and by the time you get to the 30th story, you're thinking of calling a squad. Then, at 60, you feel light-headed and fall down 4 stories worth of stairs. But when you get to the top of that concrete monster, you realize, that level was easy. And you didn't even use up, down, up, down, a, b, a, b, start.

Then you woot.

By the way, I'm totally digging on Metro Childhood and Running out of Green. Excellent.

Seriously.

Derek, I like both your entries but it is very hard to tell what color shirts they would come on...when you click on the thumnail it is very dark. Are they on white? Heather grey? Can I buy a clue?

Hah, you're too consistently good; I can't always be mentioning you, Pensketch, Pyrin, Annie, etc. People would think you guys were paying me (they're not, especially not in the amount of $5 each time I mention them, nope). Try being terrible every now and then and then we'll see.

You know there is a way to guarantee yourself in my posts: make it to the foxbox every week. :D

Until then, you can just go cry about it in a homemade video.

I was looking through and I can easily see several other designs that should fall under the "not uniquely urban" rejection as they are presented. But that's just how it goes. I would probably be more upset if I had been anywhere close to the fog, but whatever. They need to get consistent with their rejections.

I see what you mean... shirt comps are very difficult to arrange for me colorwise.

Both are on asphalt if that helps :-)

Hehe, thanks. I like how you wrote a story with yours too. And then the up, down, up, down, a, b, a, b, start made it all ever better. That deserves a vote in itself!

i'm the one that helped jordan convert his original to six colours. the original, as stated before, was created in MS Paint and it's very detailed but its small. if you blow it up, it looks quite pixelated. the design is detailed and the conversion to six colours cleaned it up a little bit... a close up detail of it isn't important. this design is better enjoyed at a distance as a whole, not up close anyway... it's a solid design.

my woot list:
6/20/07 - Refurbished Ear Wax Collector

11/20/08 - three false sense of security ipod locks
4/9/09 - apple 8GB 4th gen ipod nano (black)

Specifically for this derby I'm getting tired of the nature vs urban idea. I mean.. it's not a bad idea. But it seems to be overdone. Like the "city with a forest reflection" or the "forest with a city reflection" It seems like I've seen a lot of those. The one by aleash is nice since it's not trees.

That's a bit wide open. What are you thinking of putting on a shirt?

Pensketch

quality posts: 0 Private Messages Pensketch

I have an idea, but no time to make it happen. I skimmed through the current submissions and didn't see anything terribly similar to what I had in mind so I'll toss it out for anyone with more time on their hands than I have.

Basically, I'm thinking of an ant farm:

only on the ground side of the farm have a top down view of a few city blocks with people and cars scurrying around the streets. Perhaps have the top edge of the city terminate in a shoreline and have variations in water color hint at the farm buildings.

Would anyone want it on a shirt? I have no idea. It just appealed to me.
