concept is cool

not a fan of the olive ink...

I know... That is mainly what I was torn about. It had no ink splat but I stared at it too long and thought I needed to add something. Thanks for the comment.

you should submit it w/o the ink. It would look much better methinks.

I can just say not that I will have $30 less next week because of this derby. I am an architecture student and well buildings make me happy!

Maybe.. but then half will vote for ink.. half no ink.. and then neither of them become shirts.

Wow, I am very impressed with Urban Meltdown. So far, this is the best shirt in this Derby - I don't think there's another that is close to it...yet.

Not even close?? I thought my design was sick.. with a good message too. Lay into it, if you would, what am I missing?

Really? I am not the type to rip on shirts, and this is just my opinion, so it doesn't count for anything, but I have seen that shirt thousands of times over, at every airport and tourist stores in the 2 for $10 bin. The only difference is they say a city's name under it. That is the most boring shirt I have seen all day. But those shirts are in all those stores for a reason, people must like them. I just can't imagine ever wanting it, or buying it for anyone I know. Generic and boring. But that is just me I am sure.

I thought you were ripping into my shirt.. which, I wouldn't mind if you did. I'm looking for tips/taunts. I was going to explain, there is a skyscraper on my shirt from every inhabited continent.. so you get all those major metro city feelings.

Well, that explains it, then. I haven't travelled in years, I avoid airports, and if I went through an airport, I wouldn't sort through the 2 for 10 t-shirt bin - so, truthfully, this is the first time I have seen this design. Hey, I guess I spotted a real winner of a design if it is copied so freely! <pats self on back> BUT, seriously, I did go too far with the "not even close" comment - I also really like Insatiable and the Working Monkey designs (hey, that's two for you, Riffmaster, good week!).

Don't change a thing, you struck oil! I like the grimy urban feel to it. One of those votes are mine.

So, if I do not do this, my wife will scrote punch me.
She thought my wordless shirt said too much. I didn't. Let's see what the magical woot votes say.

Here it is. The toned down version. If you like it vote for it.

Hey, I just wanted to show everyone my design, I decided to give it a shot this time. I don't have photoshop, so hand drawing all the spray paint dots took several hours of work, but I really like how it turned out. Vote if you like it, and tell me what you think!

Final thoughts?

I didn't like the way my 'real' godzilla was working...so I stuck the rexzilla. Godzilla seems to have more spines on his back, but they wouldn't be visible enough to identify him.

Looks good... time to throw it into the ring? The Godzilla look might have had copyright issues too... you don't wanna tick off Toho.

Lots of good lookin' shirts this week.

Shiftypixel, you have a bit of the "typography" problem with your tree design - not that great in 3-D. Yes, I'm sure the vast majority of shirt purchasers are male, but having a unisex design could garner more votes.

I don't know about seeing that shirt everywhere, but I agree with you that it's not a design that encourages me to buy. The whole anime feel to that background explosion, in fact, really repels me.

Wow, there's a big separation of votes between 6th and 7th place (almost 30 votes as of now).

Also, I put my design up before rushing out of the lab to go see the O's/Yankees game. So I suppose I'll officially announce it now. I won't put up a big picture because those of you perusing have seen it before in it's many earlier renditions.

Here's a link. If you like, please vote.

Also, I'd love suggestions and criticisms. I better be able to take it, especially since it seems like I tend to give out my own so much. And now having 24 hours to change and resubmitt is nice.

But it won't let me vote again.

Wait... In place of the vote area it says "Take It Back."

Hmmm... Maybe that means if I click on it, it will give another vote to the design.

It's on an asphault grey. The detail pic I posted here shows more or less how it should look.

Thanks for the support guys, I thought I had a winner with this one but apparently it lost a heck of a lot of steam in the past couple hours while I was away. Back to the drawing board I suppose!

If anybody wants it, I have a really nice Public Domain photo of a Sunflower growing in front of some Downtown L.A. skyscrapers from the viewpoint of the sidewalk looking up. I have no photoshop or illustrator skills, so I am willing to pass it on to one of you talented folks to do your magic if you want it. PM me or email to feistycawoman@hotmail.com

Point taken.

The reasoning behind it is that when using a lot of spraypaint, toxic fumes tend to be emmitted en masse (or so I assume) so professional "taggers" use breathing apparati to ward off unnecessary brain damage.

And they look cool (to some).

What say you wootians, yay or nay on the gas mask? Furthermore, would it give me a chance at the top four, or would it just net me a smattering of votes?
