that awkward shirt is just not funny--please un-vote it--seriously--please

i feel like the rejection of derek's shirt this late in the game kinda takes the point out of the fog. we obviously all know now that the other three were clearly in the lead over "awkward." unless something weird happens, even with it in the fog now theres no reason we should expect it to actually be a printed shirt. kinda lets us know how it will all turn out at this point. just a thought.

Oh, the money I could have saved....

I love that interpretation. <3

Actually... that would be pretty awesome. If there was a 3d mobile version of All Hallow's Sleep, I know that'd be hanging over my crib - so to speak. =D

Makes me want to take a stab at a 3d rendering now...

I hope awkward still has a chance. It's definitely my favorite of the 4 top options.

With our powers combined, we can make this happen! Vote for "Awkward":

For all you zombie lovers, have you been following the development of Alive? It's a horror/scifi/zombie tv show that hasn't launched yet, but has some gory but interesting teasers out on the web. http://www.falconrockcommand.com/Falcon_Rock_Command.html

I would like a zombie shirt to wear while I watch people kill tv zombies. Just 'cause.

I put the first placement out into the forums and got a couple of negative placement responses, so I made the executive decision to move it.

Truth be told, i liked it at the bottom better as well :-)

that kinda makes me sad. I'm a big fan of non-center placement on shirts, especially with designs like yours that tend to lend themselves to not being directly in the center. Well, half of yours, you tend to know when it should and when it shouldn't (obviously the test shirts you've made should be centered).

For those that don't like low/side placed designs: it's a popular style, asymmetry is in, vote for off-center art ! Also, just so you know, most of the time, when you're sitting, people aren't looking at the awesome design on your shirt anyway. XD

My thoughts exactly. I like Angst O Lantern for a halloween shirt, but the little innocent devil holding a bloody axe and several others including the blood red cemetary moon smurfing rock for year-round wear. Let's get voting. P.S. the 3.141592.... Pumpkin is clever enough I'd wear it year round, but let's be honest, no one will put enough votes into getting it there.

How are the shirts really long? I have severe scoliosis so my torso is SUPER short, I have essentially no waist, and my shirt is a good length, neither long nor short. Both shirts, actually (woot sent me a medium by accident for my second shirt, but neither it nor the small is too long). I think the length and fabric quality are pretty great.

FYI, I'm wearing my Sunset Tree (kelly green) right now and have gotten two compliments on it! I love it!

In no particular order, my votes this derby:

Angst O Lantern (good style, good idea, good colours, solid all around, but not my fave - I'm not sure I'd buy it but it's amongst the best of the most popular, so I had to give it a vote)
Got Blood (I love vamps! awesome concept, but the design is a bit mediocre imo. I'd still def buy it though, bc I love the idea that much)
Moonbeast (love the colours and style, not so thrilled with the concept, and it's not really halloweeny imo, but I think it's so eye catching - pure art)
Vampire Emerging (vamps! plus, my own design, and I love purple)
Missing Brother (HILARIOUS!!! style is passable, but this one I love just for the idea, it's brilliant!)
Just Say No (I'm sort of a health nut and anti candy, and pro-skinniness, so yeah, this one pleases me mentally on many levels, and the style is fine)
Lycanthrotee (clever, simple, eye-catching)
All Hallows' Sleep (I would never buy it as it's not my colours or style at all, but I appreciate the artistry, and it's very true to the derby theme - and so it deserves my vote)

A shirt must be at the very least non-ugly, but beyond that, I vote for either very clever/funny/mentally appealing shirts or for really eye-catching designs. Unless noted, I'd buy all the ones I voted for, if they won. Should I not be voting on shirts I wouldn't actually buy? I guess I just feel it's better that a shirt that I at least respect/appreciate wins than one that I think is mediocre.

So far, only two shirts that I've really loved have won - Sunset Tree and Urban Meltdown. I've been pretty bummed with the past few derbies, with really very few designs even in the top 20 that appeal. :\ But I guess it's better for my wallet. And I'm having fun making designs even if I get like under 10 votes, sigh.

Really? o.o Not that's there's anything wrong with your thoughts, I'm just surprised. XD I have short torso issues too (scoliosis, natch) and I occasionally have to take up the hem on some of my shirts. Most girl tees are okay, but the AA shirts are definitely a little long on me. I'm debating whether I'm going to hem my Woot shirts or be lazy, though- they're bearable simply because they're lightweight enough that I can scrunch the bottom to a comfortable length. But that would ruin a lower design. Which makes me sad; I do love different placements. D:

barthesis wrote:Crazy that "All your Treats..." got the boot so late in the game. That really suprised me.

On another note, after reading through the discussion on Pantone vs. hex vs. cmyk, vs. etc... I thought I'd mention a Pantone swatch book. Because of the nature of digital design, even the most calibrated monitors can't simlulate final print colors with total accuracy... let alone the factory 65k, max brightness settings that come with most PC's. To help with this, Pantone prints books every year containing the closest representations of their colors when printed. The sole purpose of these books is to know what your going to get... so when you select your 6 color palette, you could refer to the book to make sure it's the right tint, hue, etc. and if not, pick what you thought it should've been on screen.

The only problem is that these book are frickin expensive! Here's a link just incase there are any money bags out there that want totally accurate color on their shirts.

The best one for matching color from print to screen is the "bridge" guide... unfortunately its $119, but has rgb equivalents in it as well.

The puffaluffs I believe were part of an experiment to develop an unnatural enemy of the kandykorns, that went horribly awry. Of course their secret plan is to waken the sleeping punkin head and seduce the world with its horribly cute evilness. (No one can resist the evil cuteness of the sleepy punkin head!) Should the punkin head ever join forces with the diabolically cute devil depicted by barthesis, the world might never recover!

Friends, our only hope of salvation is to keep them trapped on t-shirts, carried around on our chests where we can keep a watchful eye on them all....

Lets not forget the evil KandyKorns distracted the puffaluffs with cheese decoys.

"I thought 6 spot colors meant there were only supposed to be 6 main colors but there could be other colors used in small amounts. Confusing wording."

Spot color is a printing term, it's not really confusing at all - you just have to learn a bit about how things are printed.

Not referring to you, but many entries look like the people that designed them have never bothered to research fabric printing at all.

On a side note, do the rest of you guys include separations with your final art?

Ok so I currently have the skills of pre-schoolers using dull crayons on 1-ply toilet paper when it comes to creating designs for t-shirts, especially compared to what I've seen in these contests.

But I have had a few ideas for past/current contests (i.e., urban crop circles using streets; inversed pumpkin [take a picture from inside a carved pumpkin and you’ll see what I mean]) that I was going to submit but didn't because it would have taken me too long to finish the design because I am still learning the software.

If I did submit it wouldn't have been until Monday night/Tuesday morning because my weekends are usually booked and don’t have the hours I would need to work on it. I have read, and agree, that the design would have to be amazing to gather the votes to even approach the fog if they were posted on or after those days, so that would leave me and my attempted art out completely.

So here’s a suggestion to tweak the contest that I think would help everyone. The only thing I am suggesting to tweak is when the voting actually begins. Move the start of the voting period to begin in the afternoon or late Monday.

This would give Woot time to comb through the initial waves of submissions and do their rejections and would also allow people to modify their own designs if needed. The start/ending of the submissions and when the voting ends would remain the same. The 3-4 days of voting, in my opinion, would be enough for voting on the designs.

I do think it is great contest where all three sides win (Woot, artist, and consumer).

Damn you vile woman. I am now furiously hungry and lunch is not for another 2 hours. And to top it off, when it comes, it will only be disappointing compared to the amazingness that is gloucester/chives (I tend to sprinkle a little smoke paprika in it too) on buttered crackers.

I like the crayon and toilet paper combo! (Sounds like one of my mixed media paintings. :o)

The delayed voting has been suggested by several other posters. Don't really see if there would be a downside to this additional feature. I guess woot could allow people to post entries over a fixed time period Friday - Monday and then open it up to the vote. I think the frenzy would create a wild hotness and fog setup with it changing quite rapidly through the first day. I wonder.......
