I'm pretty disappointed this happened. I thought this was a fantastic shirt and a great idea. I thought woot was about making money and this made a quick jump into the fog.

As the fog stands, I'd love an aya/kls/fable derby.

But I don't think anything can overcome the sliced bread juggernaut. Which is a shame. Seriously, woot needs to axe text every week. We get much better designs when they do, but more importantly, we get a lame text winner whenever they don't.

I'd guess that no one has a patent on Chicken Marsala (which I had tonight, BTW), though I could be wrong. However, just because an item wasn't patented (or even cannot be patented) doesn't mean it was not invented. Someone (or a group of someones) invented Chicken Marsala, and I'm glad they did. I also wish they'd get over to the olive garden and show them how to make it right.

Patent != Invention

Re: Pandolten - A Delicious Invention

I really wish the entire text "A panda stuffed with a ..." and "A rare culinary..." were included on the shirt itself, it really is good. Without that text, it just looks like a juxtaposition of icons, not a true twisted and digustingly awesome dish.

Re: Stupid Monkey Invention

I don't know why designers are so obsessed with monkeys, seems unhealthy. I, however, love monkeys and have lots of toys, books, etc, including a couple of flying/screaming monkeys, and a wooden satanic devil monkey statue set from Guam.

What's really funny is that I actually (re-)invented a flowbie in college. It worked, too, until the weed-whacker motor I was using shorted out and threw plasma sparks everywhere. Thankfully that happened before the razor blades came loose and cut off my arms. I always made sure to point it away from my neck.

My college friends still talk about that.

Sounds good to me. Or, at least, there should be text derbies and no text derbies occurring at a similar frequency...I have a few text-y shirts and I don't think I'm in the market to buy another text-heavy shirt.....I second the motion for text-axeing. Um. Please?

Congrats, Aliface, on your continued foggage. Also, completely unrelated, I have been cast as Nana in Peter Pan and I demand you come see me since you'll be back in the states. Unless you have something better to do about that time in May. :D

So when do I get to buy your shirt? I'm getting impatient. And I've bragged to everyone I know, so....

Agreed, this site needs a revamped voting system that has all the shirts submitted by a certain day and just one day for all the voting to be done. The way it is now whoever submits first will get more votes just out of being shown longer.

How mediocre shirts like what are currently in the fog of war make it and this one doesn't makes my soul hurt.

What's wrong with girls and homosexuals? (And, if I were to Venn Diagram it for you, I think you'd find there's some overlap between the two.) Also, if you're going to whine about queers, why this shirt? Surely mine--the purple swirls--is the more appropriate place (and I'd appreciate your vote!). Why can't girls design shirts that we would wear? Apparently there are enough girls on woot to make this viable, as three of the fog are currently female designers. Funny how that works.

I like this Kenney, I think it should be a tradition for you to do a Pucker shirt and then one "original" for each derby. Kinda branch out, while still holding true to the Pucker that has made you what you are

Don't be sexist. Broads hate that.

Hey Adder- Thanks for the vote of support! I hadn't checked the shirtderbystats site in a long time. WOW! Sliced Bread is estimated to be firmly in position 1. By nearly 100 votes over Mihalis. That's probably true because the shirt has been in the hotness on a regular basis. And only 10 points separate Mihalis, me and Hotcha/Fable. Oh my goodness. It's going to be a tough couple of days to have to wait.

I don't think woot is as anti text as the occasional derby might make them appear. case in point was the editor's choice of damiens shirt.

Yes, but Damien's shirt is a different breed. Text shirts can be done well. Or they can be an easy ploy for easy votes. Most of the ones that do well in these derbies are the latter.

Re: Would a Robot with a soul love his inventor?

Ellohay! (that's pig Latin for hello.)

To start, please don't fret, anyone, as this design continues to tumble ever further into oblivion! Thanks for the support, though

ok! I do indeed read these posts. In fact, I read them with a sort of borderline mania. I am pretty sure it is unhealthy. Anyhow, I don't post very much because I have just the most terrible time leaving my ego at the front door. I begin typing, and almost immediately my ego, whose name is probably Theodore or something offensive like that, starts pushing me around. He demands I say the most absurd things. And I say, "Ego, Theo, Teddy, my friend, why must I be so vain?" So he gnashes his teeth and shouts and swears and, before I know it, there appears on screen sentence after sentence of downright shameful things.

So, anyhow, I just prefer to stay away from it all. Plus, dude, there are some angry people on the forums. I'm not very strong at all, really. I weigh like 125 lbs. I'm pretty sure I will get beat up, even though this is the internet. Like with lasers or whatever.

Huh? O, sorry, I was thinking about lasers. -I do submit daily designs! I am terrifically slow about it, however. And not only slow; every time I design something, I fall in hate with it. And then if Mr. Joel Lewis wants to print something, I just feel like, "o god! why would you wanna print that? Let me submit something else." So it is a slow process.

This design probably would have been better submitted as a daily, but I like the exciting lead up to the derby on Friday, as well as the excitement during the week. It's all very wonderful. So I don't mind if something never gets printed. I am wildly happy with everything so far.

One of the dogs here just let out a really long and horrifying howl in his sleep. It was probably Rambo. He's a French bulldog, and really cute, but we're all afraid his brain might be under-developed. I bet he's dreaming about something funny. Well, actually, maybe not. He might not be able to dream, with his messed up brain and all. Plus he's a dog, and I don't even know if dogs can dream.

Ok, good night everyone! Thanks again for everything. I will make a better design this week, I hope

That made me laugh audibly.

Edgar, seriously, I love that you continually submit what seems to be your top-quality stuff directly to the derby, even though you don't seem to get the appreciation that deserves. I hope this gets printed somehow someday. I bet Design By Humans would eat this up when the 60 day hold expires. Until then, though, good luck finding a design you'll love even after submission to the woot gods. I know there are a number of people here who are dying to own your work. Any of it.

@Caspianta - Wow! Haven't seen you in the forums for awhile? Hope everything's okay! Here's a link to an image that can help you with the details. After drawing the bat-winged gliders used in the background of the larger image I used the single-wing and created the netting in the woman's hair by overlapping the wings. i drew the bird and then used one of the bat-wings to add a winglike detail to the bird. Hope this helps. I'll get a picture of the little parachuting man too. He's really cute!

@Everyone - Thanks for keeping me in the fog. It really means a lot!

I had originally envisioned this design with some writing (probably my own illegible cursive) in with the swirls. I'm very glad I didn't do that (at the time, I couldn't think of what TO write).
