Have either of you read "The Worst Hard TIme" by Timothy Egan? Interesting book about the Great American Dust Bowl...but I can only read it in small doses.

I don't recognize the name but I read about her in wikipedia. I think I may have read one of hers. Wikipedia says she wrote some of the Nancy Drew's in the 1980s. She has to be good!

Haven't read it. I bet it is hard to take! Terrible times. I usually read for escapism but I do like Americana. I'll have to see if we have it.

I really don't care either but it's fun to watch and eat and see the commercials. It has become a family tradition for us. We (husband, daughter and I) have a super bowl party. It is usually the only game we all watch all year.

'm sure all the Nancy Drews that I read were long before that. I went from the Bobbsey Twins to Trixie Belden to Nancy Drew to Cherry Ames.
