Re: Dream Analysis : According to Freud.

I think you're missing a huge one! Cigars! Not only is that a very Freudian image, but it's also what caused his death.

Beano before, and there'll be no gas!

This is a great shirt and perfect for me, a psychoanalytic literature critic.

Because this derby has a distinct "no text" rule.

There are about a million flying penguin shirts out there. But people like what's familiar, so they'll keep voting 'em up.

I really and truly wish woot would institute a "no memes unless we specifically OK them" rule. I never want to see another pirate, penguin, ninja, pac-man, monkey, etc ever again.

Eh, so what? Just because the concept of a penguin flying isn't new doesn't mean this entry should be rejected. The design is original.

I didn't say it should be rejected, I just asked where the feet were. Literally. Where's the feet? Adding those other links was just me expressing my annoyance that this shirt is in the fog when much more original shirts like Edgar's are not.

In recent derbies more and more of this style are being introduced but the lack of popularity in those shirts (no offense to other designers) shows that Alvin's effort and skill are being recognized and appreciated by the voting community.

the woot users are going to vote on what they would buy and wear, not necessarily the best art. even if this abstract style isn't the most original, the best critic of art is the paycheck when alvin takes it this week. i'm definitely buying one

thanks guys!

This is so cute. You need to remove the Z and resub because it would be a shame for it to get rejected.

penguin wishing to fly is not a new idea. i never calmed it was. but i had an idea for a good interpretation of it, that i believed fit the theme rather well, so i submitted it. people liked the design so the voted for it.

If woot is planning to expand, it probably won't be by Friday.
You have a choice. You can play by Woot's rules and resubmit, or try a different site that has 4c screen printing. Good luck.

Absolutely! There are actually cigars and pipes included in the shapes. (You'll be able to figure them out upon close examination of the shapes in the face.)

The dreamlike clouds are placed to mimic his lapel and shirt flap. I thought about having this part of the design continue to a hand holding a cigar, but I wondered if it was okay to depict smoking on a woot shirt. (Just doing my part to keep the image PG-13) So I dropped the idea of the cigar.

On one site I visited, the reporter mentioned that "Freud doesn't mention bananas, hot dogs, or cigars, but their phallic symbolism is obvious. (Freud is alleged to have once said - does any reader know where? - that in some dreams a cigar may be just a cigar.)"

Anyway...I still allowed for the pipes, cigars, bananas and hot dogs. If you look through the shapes in the face, you'll probably spot them.

Thanks for the the votes all. I really appreciate it!

@kylemittskus - You're absolutely right! This shirt was made for you!
