I actually agree with you. I thought that a lot of Bryan's vectors looked like GoMedia vectors. I've bought a bunch of their sets and double-checked that they can be used for tshirt design. They are free for commericial use. So there's no problem there.

But, I do agree that the designs are far too similar to be purely coincidental. But, Woot staff will have to decide what's derivative and what's original thought process. It's clear where Bryan got the inspiration, but the vectors are free for commercial use, so there's no copyright infringement issue.

I personally would have liked to see the vectors used in a wholly original way. But, maybe that's just me. It's not going to set a good precedent with other artists or designers if you take commercially free vectors, but then mimic a design where the fundamentals have already been thought through by Go Media. But no copyright infringement issue, at least I don't think so.

To the right of the picture we see a different response. This parachuter does not struggle; instead, he seems almost resigned to his fate. He has curled up into fetal position, awaiting his imminent end. His is an unlucky lot in life.

The most intriguing figure is of course the man at the bottom left. He looks neither terrified, nor resigned. Instead he seems almost apathetic, as if the flying fish of prey mean nothing to him. This is ironic, as he has not one, but two sharks circling him. A double portion of death. Regardless, he sees his situation and meets it with the cold uncaring glance of a rational, modern man of existential bent.

Too bad he's going to die.

I love the design my *only* beef is the "incompleteness" of the top guy where we don't see his chute, and it's "off the page". To me designgs like this seem incomplete and lacking something visually--other than that its a winner.

nothing bad meant here. I saw the vectors before and thought to myself wow them would be nice shirts. and then I saw this design and said hey I'll buy it. I for one think everything has been thought of before.... Just pointing out that they have styles that are nearly the same. Anyway you still have my vote.

The whole family likes this one! I think it has a great blend of comical and art. What family doesn't have a picture of their child acting like this. (I know I have several!) I usually buy the silly tshirts for my husband, but if this wins, I may just have to wear it myself!

I definitely see the pipes....just missing the dream part of a pipe dream. Unless the pipes are dreaming that they can be an argyle tshirt. In that case, I guess it works.

So this was just a bunch of purchased vectorized clipart? I think that would have been worth mentioning when everyone was talking about your skills and the level of detail you put into it. Clip art isn't rejection worthy, but trying to pass off clip art as original should be. Got to pull my vote.

Nope. He's all relaxed and happy because he sees that the shark in front of him is harmless. It can't eat him as it doesn't have a bottom jaw. What he doesn't realize is that it may still tickle him into wetting himself with its Mighty Wings of Existential Absurdity.

Pac-Man?.... Didn't you already do that in your "I'm open" shirt? It's funny though, even though this is an absolute obvious 100% joke shirt. It's still doing better than your "real" shirts (considering how long the others have been in the derby). Think about that for a while...

All the parts are identical to the vector pack illustration. The eyeball's identical, the crown is identical. The ribs look the same. I mean it's a pack of clip art for sale. It doesn't take much thought to put two and two together. If someone wants to buy it and see if that spider is in there, that flame, those wings, please do. I'm going to assume it's all clip art. At least could have done a different design so as not to get spotted. Or just said right off the bat this was clip art. It's a shame this was one I really did like.

Re: Sweet Dreams Are Made of These...

Well, I just got home from work and read through the copious amounts of comments on my shirt page. All I can really say is... "WOW!" I always expect people to say negative things in the forum... some constructive and some not. What I am surprised at is when somebody (anybody) takes their dislike for a particular shirt, and turns it in to an opportunity to insult someone (or an entire forum of people) personally.

I really and truly respect the fact that everyone has an opinion and the right to share it, but throwing around put-downs and insults is not really expressing an opinion, it's just unnecessary. When I don't like shirts, I just don't vote for them I may offer constructive criticism (mostly when asked), but I do not lash out and question/judge/insult the designer's skills, physique, political views, sexual orientation or otherwise. I just don't get it.

It's a shirt with cupcakes growing from a tree, it's brightly colored, it's supposed to be fun and/or funny. It shouldn't be the center of a rage filled debate. At the end of the derby, either people voted for it or they didn't, none of this back and forth will really matter.

I am always pleased and grateful to win or be printed (this week would be no exception), but if it doesn't happen I am fine with that. I always just figure it means that not enough people liked the shirt, nothing personal, just didn't like it. That said, it's nice to see as many positive posts and notes as negative ones. It probably all balances out in the end!

But, if he drew it from the vector cover (without buying the set) he is supposed to give credit to Go Media. At least that's my understanding if you use something off their site for free. If you look back a few derbies, I mentioned Go Media with one of my designs...maybe "Old Man Winter". I remember posting the link and mentioning that I spoke with someone at Go Media specifically about tshirt designs. Because I bought the sets, I didn't have to mention the source, but I did.

I think I've seen Go Media elements in RiffMaster's Designs, Damienone's designs, several on DBH and maybe in Alvin's Arch Design(?). (But I may be mistaken as they may look similar, but aren't from the same source.)

I don't have a problem with them being used if they are used in an original way so that the end result is a design that hasn't been done before.
