Looks like today was pretty light on the hate mail for the cupcake shirt. That's a relief! Now I just have to figure out where to dig up a couple hundred more votes...

hmmmmmmmmm... I wonder if I could convince riffmaster to use a few of his 500 proxy votes on me.

darthv8r - Thanks for the compliment! The blog ain't much, but I enjoy it.

There's a dearth of good pipe t-shirts out there. Should this unfortunately not make the cut, what are the chances of you printing this up elsewhere once the rights to the design revert back to you?

It's just that cool!

I totally agree.

Dreams are hard to define, I mean it's more than just what you see when you go to bed. Martin Luther King, Jr's dream probably wasn't while he was sleeping. And this made it through 5 days, why the change of heart woot?

Re: What Dreams Are Made Of

this is my first time really reading the forums for the derby entries. i just got to ask, are they always so insulting and angry? every shirt in the fog has some seriously negative comments, some resorting to name-calling. i thought these were here to voice opinions and the like. this makes me rethink woot altogether....

Even if im not there when voting ends, it was great being in there for a short time.

And congrats to the designs that do end there. Its been back and forth with the cupcake tree all day. kept me on the edge of my seat!

True, you wouldn't be dreaming, but this is an interpretation of what causes "Sleeping problems" using the traditional "Sheep jumping fences" symbolic representation of sleep

Thanks again to everyone who has voted or will vote for me between now and 1pm tomorrow. This has been a pretty interesting week (comment page, fog, forum, probations, etc), so I am definitely glad I decided to submit this week.

Congrats to the other contenders on a pretty tough competition this week. We shall see what happens tomorrow. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

If there's something to complain about, it will be brought up. The longer a shirt is in a top spot (and not necessarily in the Fog at that, but top ten, as well) the greater the likelihood there is for an issue to arise, only to be met with those who agree, and those who don't. Most often, this issue escalates to arguments, and eventually sophomoric name calling as the voting week comes to a close. The community at woot is incredibly active; not only are there long discussion threads for "controversial" entries, but it always spills over onto the main derby forum, as well. A whole 'nother argument about the same shirts and topics can exist in two places at once (and then woot self-destructs in an antimatter annihil... wait... nm)

That's partly why I've stayed completely away from the main forums this week, as even though I know things are being said about my shirt there, it's hard to keep up and keep organized. Might as well have everything consolidated in one page.

Oh, and to answer your question: Yes, since Derby #1.

It's perfectly on topic. It's a dream about counting sheep and the lead sheep gets stuck under the fence it was supposed to jump over. Does that sound like a scenario anyone trying to fall asleep would create in order to soothe the mind into falling asleep or is it something one's mind would imagine in a dream after finally achieving sleep? The latter, obviously.

I really like the look of the sheep, very funny. Seems like there should be numbers on them though or a sleeping person somewhere to really get the counting sheep thing across. Just looking at the shirt without knowing the theme I might just think it was a bunch of sheep in a field and one of them got stuck under a fence.

Ah numbers . . . thought about it but "no text". BTW, i was so happy your "healthy eating" shirt was available. One of my favorites. Gets lots of laughs at the office ;)

That would've been a good idea but for the 'No Text' rule in this derby. Well, someone did joke about photoshopping text onto the flying penguin to get it rejected. They probably would have been after this one, too, but it hadn't completed it's meteoric rise to the fog, yet. Thank goodness! Those sheep look like sensitive souls.

But, honestly, without knowledge of the derby's current theme, would you have guessed each of the submitted designs was about a dream? Some are far more obvious than others. A line of sheep? Maybe. Cupcakes on a tree? Maybe. A little boy 'driving' a cardboard 'car?' Probably. Etc. Etc. They're great designs, though, and they deserve their votes. It all depends on what designs or dreams the majority of voters respond to and what they want to sport on a shirt.

I was really disappointed when the "Sleepless" infinity sheep shirt got rejected and none of the other shirts in the fog appealed to me. But when I saw this shirt I was overjoyed, and I am very happy to see that it is in the fog now. I'm definately in for one.

Lol, they do look like sensitive souls. A perfect description. I also like the overall composition/design and colors and feel it would look great on a t-shirt.
I also agree that art/design is subjective - and that will probably never change. Good luck sokowa.
