So you wouldn't buy any of the top, say 10 or 11 shirts right now? There are some radically different and great designs in there. Really, any of them still has a shot to be printed. Still almost four days to go.

But the sticky notes one kicks ass.

How about someone do a computer monitor with a mouse and keyboard coming out? How about a USB key hanging out of the front of the desktop

Or a book oriented in a way that it would look if the person was laying down reading it

I just have to say this, last week had some quality top 10 entries, but this week the voters seemed to have regressed to 12 year olds again. People want shirts that make it look like they have stains on them? A shirt that makes it looks like you're sort of wearing a hoodie? Is that funny or clever? Does it even make any sense? Would you really walk around with a shirt that has fake sticky notes labeling your innards? Is that your message to the world? And why is that? Please grow up people. Get some taste.

I know this doesn't count, but my Nerd Alert! shirt had somewhere between 40-50 pre-rejection (and it was an early rejection). Time for Happy Hour! had 8 on the resubmit which I yanked to change the resubmit and now it has 30-40 again. I have no clue how many are repeat voters, but some of the shirts that were in similar ranges at the time Nerd Alert was rejected are now nearing 100. There's no way to know what would have happened, but it could still get there.

Vote!

You are entitled to your own choices and preferences, but I'm sure no-one appreciates having their own tastes insulted. Some of the artists on here who do wonderfully sophisticated and non-juvenile designs also have other styles as well. Compare tgentry's prospector last week, which almost won, to his previous (and my favorite) "Eating Healthy"

True, Eating Healthy was a silly scene but it was still done tastefully. Some of the designers in the fog this week might have chosen to put bloody, half eaten bodies all over the place and would have probably gotten tons of votes for it. I just think body part and slob humor is overdone and aims at the lowest common denominator. But votes are votes I guess.

I think you're mistakenly presuming "juvenile" to mean "silly, cartoony, and appealing to kids", as opposed to "not having matured, whether that be in concept, execution, or general immature content". Tgentry uses many different concepts and is able to employ many different techniques in realizing them, but while he may go from a "mature" topic like Watch It Grow to a more goofy Eating Healthy, his designing remains mature.

What are you? His agent? I didn't insult your precious. My favorite all-time shirt is Eating Healthy, it is one I don't wear too much just so the washing machine won't ruin it and it will last longer (seriously!). My point is that even people with clearly sophisticated ideas that have obviously superior skill and talent aren't above being a little silly. And if silly is ok for tgentry, why are we trashing other talented people who chose to make silly shirts in a contest that was made for silly shirts. I would agree that there are plenty of entries that serious adults could never wear in public, but I didn't know that meant we couldn't like them.

I couldn't care less who was brought up. And, also, you were the one who aimed your praise his way. Had you said anyone else, I'd have made the same points. Silly is ok for tgentry because tgentry is a good designer. If he was a bad designer, it wouldn't be ok, because the design would be bad. All I was doing was defining juvenile. It doesn't mean "appreciable by kids".

To me there's a big difference between silly and base humor. Like the difference between Monty Python and Jerry Springer. They're both silly, but one does it tastefully and smart while the other wallows in it's own juvenile sensibilities. I'd say this week the Jerry Springer voters are out in force.

Fair enough, but you should look up words before accusing people of mistaking their meaning. The webster's online dictionary includes this definition of juvenile: "2. of, relating to, characteristic of, or suitable for children or young people." I emphasize the "suitable for children or young people" in addressing my meaning.

Also, because I don't have time to answer the same basic post in PMs AND on the board, you said that tgentry could do non-juvenile designs like el prospector as well as stuff like eating healthy. That implied to me that you felt one was juvenile. Basing this on the post you were replying to, I felt I should specify. A tshirt that looks like a sweatshirt is inherently juvenile. A tshirt which has a blobmonster on it is not.

Edit and big sigh: and that's not the context the post you were replying to was in. Yes, that is A definition of juvenile. It is not the one that was in play. Blue Man Group aren't sad, so to speak, and Blue Christmas doesn't mean the tree's sprayed cerulean.

I don't think Female used the word juvenile. I did however say "non-juvenile" so I hardly think it is wrong for me to define my own use of "juvenile" and expect it to be the correct definition, especially considering it is in fact a proper use. We can argue over this all day, but I hardly think it is worth it. I do think it is fair to say we can all agree that silly is allowed and we only want skillfully designed shirts to win.

Tracings almost always look bad, and you didn't bother making it work for a t-shirt--the clipped edges would look bad.

If you must trace something, you'd be better off starting with a high resolution photo so that it has more data to work with. It will still have that characteristically ugly jaggy look, and oddly rounded corners of a livetrace, but at least it can do so more accurately. ;)

I'm almost certain ,almost ,that you have me confused with some one who cares. If people hadn't gotten their panties bunched and omitted ALL small talk from these threads, we could see for sure. Moderation is lovely. It means you can enjoy things without having them damage you.

Personally, I think it's because there are two incredibly unprintworthy shirts in the fog (much like the Dreams derby, which was similar), not the lack of what was for dinner.

how was that griping? it was a serious question. If you read the title, you'll see it's supposed to be a black hole with colored light being sucked into it. I tried to get the 3D effect by spacing and layering, but I'll be the first to admit that I didn't achieve that too well. It's only my second entry, and I'm certainly no artist, but it is an attempt at trompe l'oeil. I'm surprised it's gotten as many votes as it has, but I certainly don't think it should be rejected.
