I don't know if you can be *banned* for it (probably) but it's obviously a big no-no to make another account to post after you've been put on probation. It usually results in a longer probation. The best plan is not to get put on probation in the first place. ^_~

...says the girl who got probation for being horribly off-topic. Although it was very lenient and shouldn't really count as probation.

EDIT: I edited it to say I *don't* know. Typo. Whoops.

I am THRILLED to see that you were not 'driven off' by the naysayers and have continued to submit listings even in light of the Imaginary Holiday shirt. Just another reason that I really want this fish shirt. Continued best wishes for a derby win. I'm rooting for you!

Thanks kls!

Yeah, that was me. I ignored most of the flak, staying over at the EBW threads during that time.

It's hard to keep me away. Too much fun. And it's paying off, I hope! The person who designed the hoodie is getting the EXACT same treatment- if it is a good idea and done quickly, it's gotta be blasted. However, I admit, it only took 5 minutes to put that -1 shirt together, as a joke really... This one took hours, and I'm glad it's doing well. But it still needs voter help!

There's no need to be patronizing. Any fair criticism of a design you want to make is fine, but there's no need to be patronizing. I'm not just directing this at you; I mean everyone.

I rarely attack people. I won't say I'm not guilty of it, because I know I am... there are definitely designers here derby after derby that deserve to be called out for their constant plagiarism, trite concepts, and the like. But in general, it is the design, not the designer, that I take issue with. I think Riffmaster, for example, is a great designer, but his sliced bread win is 8 kinds of lame, and I stated as much. It is fine to have negative opinions, unpopular opinions, vehement opinions. That is what makes us human. But damn, they need to have some basis in reality. The reality is, a shirt like Bryan's WILL NOT look the same printed. The reality is Shan's current fog entry is very similar conceptually to at least two other woot derby entries. It is not that people like the shirts that irks me about them, but that they ignore the facts about them. Not that ignoring the facts isn't the best way to get voted in modern america, but I digress.

At other times, I defend designs that deserve it. Designs don't suck because people think they're girly. Designs can't have homosexual tendencies. The same people who get after cartoony work for being 6 year old art get after real art for being too complicated, or looking like vomit. That's why you won't buy a design, perhaps, but it's not why they suck. You can be objective about designs you don't like. I'm not a huge fan of soothed's fog contender, but it's without a doubt one of the best entries in the derby, and deserves its place. I throw my support behind underdogs, behind designs that deserve the boost, behind unfairly lambasted work that shows more creativity than some entire weeks of shirt.woot do. I criticize work that could have been thought up by a monkey. I don't normally go after the sloppy designs, the mediocre ones that sit mid-pack. I go after the ones that have no concept of the rules, and the ones that don't seem to have any concept of concepts. I don't see anything hypocritical there. Where I do see hypocrisy is in you, who I've only ever seen stirring the pot, calling out ANYONE for being an antagonist, instigator, or hypocrite.

I agree. I think this would make a sensational daily shirt. But, if Woot rejects it for being off-theme, it will not be accepted as a daily. (This has happened to a couple of people.) The designer is best off clicking the little red 'x' by their entry and submitting it as a daily, or saving it for another derby when they can enter it sooner.

This entry doesn't seem Trompe L'oeil to me and it would be a shame if it gets rejected. Then it can't be submitted in another derby, or for a daily.

Well, that's how I see it, at least. I've accepted that most people won't, but then, I'd rather not be accepted by most people, given what they DO accept.

There's a definitive difference. That's the main point. If you can't see it, it's probably because I dislike your design.

Yes. My ego is just that big.

The hyperbole is yours. If you want to call it being a savior, hell, I will take any ridiculous positive labels I can get, but more so, I do see my contributions as geared toward building up that which is creative and worth praising, and trying to supersede that which is more popular but incredibly lame. It's a bit Robin Hood, maybe, but I'd never be so dramatic about it. I'd like to think all people feel an obligation to support good over bad. Are all people Robin Hood?

Some of us aren't happy about this being in the fog. Why don't YOU get over it?

Thank you. I think it's interesting that anyone who offers criticism of the voters is deemed a pariah who needs to "get over it" while they insinuate the fact that more votes = "right." That's not how the world works. Just because National Treasure 2 made 150 million dollars doesn't make it a good movie.

Leap in logic there. Whether you think that all people feel that obligation or not, it is most decidedly untrue. Therefore, the question is a moot point.

i just wrote a long response and a server error happened and its gone grrr.

so in short

robin hood did bad to do good... i guess sometimes you do that too.
but no one needs saving here, as much as you think the voters are just voting with the crowd, its still their choice and no one is forcing them.

i understand your veiws on whats fair and just and whats art and whats not but that still falls into opinion...

you dont like it, im cool with that... you want people to stop voting for this and vote for something you feel is more "deserving" im ok with that too.

but i did this peice of artwork and i stand by it.
and im not gonna beg woot to take it out of the running because a few people feel its right, or the there are "better" more deserving entries...
this is the system and it has worked thus far could it be improved? maybe
i don't know but i have no sympathy for those who cry unfair... because you know what? life is unfair...

sorry if that sounds jerky... not ment to
