My showing last week blew my mind. 330 votes and up to that point my top limit was 73 before it got rejected. There is always hope, and those votes last week encouraged me to keep it up for another 29 weeks.

I sort of think there's plenty of people who SAY they'll buy your shirt, but very few who would actually buy it, or remember it in 60 days. After the thrill of the derby fades, memories fade as well, I think.

Part of me wants to do one of those "direct submissions," but then I'd learn the hard way that the rejector just uses kind words to lessen the pain of rejecting. I'd rather be not printed due to lack of derby votes than be not printed because woot really doesn't dig my entry.

Sooner or later one of my entries is bound to strike a chord again. And as we all know (or are at least reminded by me every now and then), in 2012 I emerge victorious in derby 387!

yes, I may end up trying it some day. I really like the derby because it's democracy in action. Direct submissions are more communistic.

I remember going to a Van Halen concert with my boyfriend. I wasn't a huge fan, I like a pretty eclectic variety of music, but it was fun. Had to change that song though. Our highways were 65 at the time and the interstate is now 75.

Up until a few years ago, the interstates in Penny were all 55. Took freaking FOREVER to drive across that boring state of the Union....

I have. I've driven both 80 and 90. In chicago, it's called the Borman, and its the single most hated piece of road I have ever experienced. no matter what time of day, week or year, it's always stopped and tons of trucks. I'm finding myself getting mad already and it's 1500 miles away!!!

I mean more like the Dakota's and Minnesota. I had a friend who lived in Boston, but came out here for college. She would go out of her way to avoid Chicago.

When I moved from CA to MD, we took I-80 across. Wyoming was the absolute worst to drive through. Boring and took for-freakin'-ever.

But once I got to drive my 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass (AAA's car of the year for 1998, Consumer Reports' car to avoid in 1999), all the way past the speedometer's upper limit- like 115 mph! In the middle of the day! And I didn't even get caught!
