You insist on tossing up artwork with the suspicion I've used it for inspiration (you've done this before) and I'm just tired of you always putting up garbage like this. If you don't like it, fine, but the Heather Picken's comment, the attack on my chop because I promoted my own work under my own entry, and the attempt to discredit me by posting artwork that never came into play when designing my own shirt, are all forms of harassment. I'm just tired of your games.

Comment on the design. "Have you no shame?" Is not directed at the design so much as the artist. I remember you from somewhere... Hmm...

I never said I didn't vote for shirts I liked more than this one. It is your OPINION that this shirt is "a poor design". Read that snip I quoted. Is that stuff those Duke people did art? I don't think so but apparently someone does. Stop harassing someone's design because YOU don't like it and would rather have someone else's design in the fog. The Derby is not suppose to be for professional artists it's meant for Joe Shmoe what has an idea for a shirt based on that weeks theme. They have other professional daily shirts they post. I refer you to this:

Who’s designing these t-shirts?
We’re constantly recruiting experienced, talented designers who don’t mind ruining their good name by being associated with us. Each day’s shirt description includes a little bit about that day’s artist, including links to their other work. If you like their stuff, you can check out what else they’re up to. Otherwise, some of our shirts will be designed by our in-house staff. Also, each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we’ll sell the winning t-shirts from our weekly design Derby (more about that below).
Can I design a t-shirt for Shirt.Woot?
If you’re one of those experienced, talented t-shirt designers we were talking about, contact us at shirt@woot.com. Tell us about your previous design experience, and include some samples of your work. We will look at every submission, but unfortunately, we might not be able to respond to everyone. Your chances are much, much better if you don’t act like a total jerk.

and this:

What if I have an idea for a t-shirt, but no previous design experience?
The Derby is calling your name. That’s our weekly design competition, where users submit their own design ideas to a public vote, and we produce and sell the three most popular designs.

So what if you think his design is flawed, apparently there are 636 people atm that like it enough to vote for it anyway.

Are you going to complain to me over and over that my baby was born ugly? I think he is cute.

What about those designs a couple months ago that were clearly done by a child with crayons? I voted for those because I'm a nice person and I know that by voting for that kid's design it made them happy. Did you comment on them and tell them how one eye wasn't the same size as the other or that they colored outside of the line? Had your own kid colored outside of a line would you go after them and let others go after them over and over because you didn't think it was perfect?

I thought, by reading the above quotes posted by Woot, that the derby was for amateurs.

Y'all need to go by your mother's rule and if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. THAT is why I voted for this shirt. I don't try to rip people down I try to lift them up unless they are acting like jerks like some of the people here.

I'm sorry, but the point of the derby isn't to give more credit than deserved to amateurs. that's silly. if an amateur has a good design, it will get voted on, right? thats the idea. not to get decent shirts printed over exquisite ones.

No it isn't. Cite me one actual time that woot has done anything for this sort of issue. Anyone. Go ahead.

Slapping probations on does nothing, and even so, I've never seen an appropriate probation on a troll. Ever. Prove me wrong, woot. Week after week, a poster says nothing that isn't attacking someone else. Is the best you can really do a week of suspension?

I've seen a few probations so far for far less, so I figured that an all-caps, (filtered) swearing, spammy type post accompanied by the rest of what he/she is doing might get them in trouble. x:

AdderXYU wrote:but he wouldn't buy it. so it's not that fantastic to him, is it?

Anyway, the point is, if he would vote for something simply because someone else disliked it, he would vote for something he himself disliked. Meaning his vote is worthless, and says nothing about the design's worth.

When I said it was fantastic, I was expressing my own opinion of the design, so how could it not be fantastic to me?

I've admired a great many shirts that I haven't bought. If I bought every shirt I ever loved, I'd be more broke than I already am. I believed this design was great on its own merits, but I still might have not voted for it because there are other designs I'd rather see printed, but brizz's trashing it really forced my hand.

My vote is worth just as much as anyone else's: +1 vote. I believe that this design is plenty worthy... and if I decide to define a design's worth as its ability to get someone like you or brizz to attack it, then such a worthy design will always receive my vote.

No matter how much you whine, your votes will never count for more than mine or anyone else's. Your belief that your taste is so much better than the average voter is getting to be very tiresome. You really need to come to grips with the fact that all your pleas fall on deaf ears, that all your efforts in promoting your subjective view of the way things should be in the derby fail, and spectacularly so when they provoke the opposite reaction, as they have in me.

I can't swim, don't really like fish, and really don't have the money to spend on t-shirts I don't need, but I'm never going to let things like that keep me from voting or participating in the derby. It's fun, plain and simple, and it's posters like you that try to crush any semblance of fun out of it that will keep me coming back, even if it's just to attempt to counter your sad little crusade.

P.S.

It's 6am here. I'm a bit hungover, I haven't slept, and I have to pee. There's a fairly decent chance I won't remember any of this when I wake up.

You can list the animals we should find there (at least that's what I think they are), or tell a story about your picture, or use any format you want, including iambic pentameter. It's just that right now, only someone with incredible vision and imagination can see what you drew, and the rest of us need more info.

It's not animals. It's an amphibious creature leaping into the water. The legs are above the water, and the sort of... i don't know, froggy body is below the surface of the water.

It's an interesting design, and not a bad artistic piece at all, but I'm not sure it's the kind of shirt I want to wear. Thanks for the submission though.

i just have to add to the chorus: this is a totally bad4$$ design, and i'd totally wear this shirt. a lot. (can't see myself - or any adult - wearing Nessie, fergawd's sake.)

the four elements = strong resonance for me. i *so* want this shirt in the fog, and of course in the top 3 so i can buy it. and if it didn't get printed via Woot, well, i'd buy it elsewhere if i could. <shrug>

thx Momentum1, keep up the good work, etc.

DD, you obviously have not been monitoring this derby as long as I have. If you go to the other thread for the Water Derby, you will see JadenK's preliminary sketches for this design. You will also read all the comments made and see the progression of the design.

It really does appear that you have a personal grudge against Jaden. Did she not pick you for her dodge ball team in 4th grade? Is she the heiress to a fortune in Eberhard erasers that you feel should be yours? What could be the cause for such venom to be displayed on your posts?

As for your indignation of her using Ms. Jolie's picture for her "advertising", you need to do more research on what woot alows and does not allow in their posts. Similar celebrity images have appeared on shirt.woot's derbies before, and occur with regularity on the woot.com weekly contests.

This unfortunately is not totally apparent.
*You say you are not here to argue. But you appear to want to incite an argument. Why else the private posts to others denigrating one person's work? You don't know who is friends with whom - what other reason could you have besides stirring the pot?

*You say you are merely stating your opinion, and that we are not being fair to you. Constructive criticism is always acceptable, even when it is not positive. I can't draw anything, but I enjoy the discussions of how to improve drawings and the technique discussions. We do draw the line at comments that are negative just to be negative, and that is where your remarks have landed lately.

*You are accusing people of goading you into something that could get you probation. I don't see what else you could do that would not entitle you to probation by woot's rules. You've already been reported.

Most likely nothing will happen. Woot is getting ready to shut this derby down and they are looking at what shirts they need to get ready for. But you have made a reputation for yourself here. Perhaps if you come to woot to actually purchase something it will change, but you have a long road ahead of you if you want your opinion to count for something.
