The joke is fantastic, but they'll reject it for having the "A" since it counts as text. Maybe you could replace the arrows w/ guitar hero buttons? Not as cohesively subtle, but it might get the absurdist anachronist vote, including mine.

"I heard there was a secret code
That David played because he knowed
That it could get him thirty lives in Contra.
It goes like this, up up, down down
Left right, left right, B, A, select
Start over if you're too slow for the title screen..."

So your saying because I don't understand/like a VERY particular style means I am the same as everyone else and that there are two classes of shirts: 1. wierd to the point of having no meaning 2. widely appealing and thus lame. Ok I get it now and agree entirely.
End Sarcasm

I guess I don't have the same tastes as alot of the people around here. Probably the reason no one votes for my shirts. I only posted because I am truly confused about why people would vote for this. I wouldn't wear it with a 50 foot pole... Sorry if I sounded mean.

Re: Inspired by Flying Purple People Eater

Oh! I thought the song was about a monster that ate "one eyed, one horned, flying purple people".

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

Re: Inspired by Mr Blue Sky

Based on Mr Blue Sky by ELO, this song always makes me think of a strange silhouetted man made of pure sky. And wearing a bowler hat. I think everyone should own at least one suit made of sky, and my bowler hat is on order.

4 colors, black shirt. Please vote! Thanks!

not familiar with the song, but i like this.
the rounded edge of the water kinda makes the image as a whole look like a face especially with the two clouds resembling eyes, not sure if intended or not.

Bela Lugosi's Dead
by BauHaus

Bela Lugosi's Dead
White on white translucent black capes
Back on the rack
Bela Lugosi's dead
The bats have left the bell tower
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines the black box
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead
The virginal brides file past his tomb
Strewn with time's dead flowers
Bereft in deathly bloom
Alone in a darkened room
The count
Bela Logosi's dead
Undead undead undead

On the real shirt, it won't look crowded since it will be a lot bigger than the one you see on the screen.

L o L... that's the nice thing about it. If you like the song, you can vote for it, and if you like the design by itself, you can vote for it. I'm not quite the fan of the song as my hubby is. Even when I was done with it though, the design is so strong, I figured it could appeal to more than just those who appreciate the song.

It's as good as most of the designs here IMO. But you do have to remove the text if you don't want to be rejected.

Thanks. I didn't intend the face, but it would still work with the lyrics.

Absolutley love this song but not sure there is a way to illustrate it.
You have done a great job but the song is a long story and has many scenes.
You did capture the "meat" of the song, good job

I Love this take on pop art. The different color combos make it look like there are more than 6 colors (at first I thought there were 2 different grays), so you may want to clarify which colors you used.

I doubt that's the issue; I have an ultrabrite graphics monitor. Upon closer inspection (nose nearly to the screen) I can see it. You may want to brighten it. If for some reason I'm the only one who can't see it everyone please tell me...

Oh! You should really listen to the song. One of my favorites! It's a great old Jazz song. I remember it being in the US film version of La Femme Nikita...but I can't recall the title of that movie. I did a quick search on Youtube and saw this preview for Six Feet Under using Nina Simone's version of Feeling Good. Have a listen. It's a great song!

Hopefully you can understand the imagery in the design as well. (Other Nina Simone songs to listen to: Sugar in my Bowl,Here Comes the Sun, I Put a Spell on You, among others)

Thanks Peppers!

Please to bend down for the one called
the greenman
He wants to make you his bride
Please to bend down for the one called
the greenman
Forever, to him, you're tied
And you know for a million years
he has been your lover
He'll be a million more
And you know for a million years
he has been your lover
Down from the hill
To the shore

Before I drew riverman for the "water" contest (they look very similar) I actually drew this a year ago inspired by the song. But I think I'm done with creepy leafy/watery dudes for a while. On to other subjects! :D

Re: Inspired by American Girl

Well it was kind of cold that night,
She stood alone on her balcony
Yeah, she could hear the cars roll by,
Out on 441 like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment
There he crept back in her memory
God it's so painful when something that's so close
Is still so far out of reach

O yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
