I don't think a representation of the band or singer who wrote the lyrics counts as inspiration. It's little more than illegitimate tour merch.

i can understand your criticism, and it will help me focus myself for the future entries of the derby. many of the entries possibly fit your complaints though, including ones that have been in the fog. but hey, they could also fit the lyrics too, just depending on how you interpret them.

maybe i am just an easy target for your cruel words.

chocolate rain, tends to be a song about oppression. the rain is featured in my design and that can be taken quite literally. however you could also say that tay is at the mercy of his own popularity and is being used as an entry in the contest, even as he sings to stand against it.

standing in the rain he is crying out but as the lyrics state, he is crazy to. so yeah, him singing fits quite well with the lyrics.

Look, he's crawling up my wall
Black and hairy, very small
Now he's up above my head
Hanging by a little thread

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Now he's dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe he's as scared as me
Where's he gone now, I can't see

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesn't seem to move at all
Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

He's come to a sticky end
Don't think he will ever mend
Never more will he crawl 'round
He's embedded in the ground

BEEFCOAT... this is amazing. Really, don't count on viewers recognizing this as the best design. The last derby is evidence that they do. We have to figure out some way to get this shirt printed, regardless of the masses estimation.

i'm confused. so the last derby is evidence that voters DO recognize the best designs? So this one can't win because it's not one or the best?

I think you might overestimate this just a tad. It's good, but you can't say the designs in the fog aren't also fantastic shirts. there's a lot of really good ones this derby, and if this doesn't win, i'm sure we'll see plenty of beefcoat entries that do compete for printing in the future. He's got some talent!

EDIT - And to sate my curiosity I compared it to the original album cover and that other shirt. No, it's not the same but it's still pretty darn close in execution. Call it an unfortunate coincidence.

I'm glad you compared them, I wish Joel had gone to that trouble...

AdderXYU wrote:I'm not a huge fan of the massive flat area of the sound waves, but more importantly... is this even printable? Do you really want to risk being the only wooter to have two winning shirts that printed up as unwearable?

This is the sort of passive aggressive comment that sends spikes of rage throughout me. Before you go spouting off this kind of senseless crap just because you can, you really ought to print something out at 16x20 and get a grip on just how big that is as compared to a 600x600 pixel image on the screen. How mindless do you think I am? geez. The lines are all at least 2 point, and woot just told us last week that you only risked unprintability at 1 point wide. And how dare you say my Halloween shirt was unwearable? That is just wrong- I have seen several photos, and seen it in person, and they look really good. Virtually Everyone who bought one that I know of, and read comments from really liked it- the only problem anyone had, mostly ME, was that woot changed one of my colors from RGB to pantone, and their match removed the redness of it. That shirt got voted in because there just wasn't any Halloween vibe to the decently made shirts in the derby, and I provided a shirt that really gives you the mood of Halloween. It's too damned bad that I had the temerity to use a public domain image and, horror of horrors, traced it!

I'm done with your lame __.

I Agree...awesome design. However... we all know how the dark colors look on the brown shirts. Or at least most of us do. And a lot of that design is going to have trouble showing up. I still am disappointed every time i wear my cool breeze shirt and can't see the tree trunk.

I agree. I don't even really like this song that much, but i like the shirt, so im voting for it because its at least wearable and interesting. There are usually at least 3 shirts in the top 4 of most derbys that i can't figure out for the life of me why they made it as far as they did.

It's random clips of the Star Spangled Banner that are in order, but leave out measures randomly and starts in the middle. Also, the first four lines are the dual staves (first staff is the right hand, second is the left hand) while the last three staves are only the right hand.

Please, if you are going to include music notation in designs, at least have some sense of what you are doing.

Yes. I love her lyrics and music. My brother turned me onto one of her CDs decades ago and I've been a huge fan ever since. Mask and the Mirror is one of my favorites.

Do you dance to her music? I would think her music would be great for a lot of different dances.
