Go Birdgyle! Go!

No "...oscope" this week? Or did I just miss it?

He pulled it before it could be rejected (and wisely, as it's already regained its fog spot). I agree with you, to me text-free should be a bit less strict, but woot has a very strict precedent to work off. If he'd risked his luck, he might not be seeing a rejection til tomorrow, and then regaining ground would have been near impossible.

drewdunn1 wrote:dude, this looks great. have you ever thought about centering your artwork? it would look so stagnant and lifeless if you did!

I agree!
I also think that it would help if you change the color and the concept....You know, start over.
I'm not saying I don't like it but maybe if it was totally different or my design (that I have not submitted and never will) that it would get more votes and sell out!
But I really do like it, I just would never buy it.
Don't worry though. I'll be back later to crap on it if it does win. ...Not that I don't think its brilliant.

Re: Welcome Back Spring Bouqet

Oh No! Neck in Neck with a Skulls entry....how can that be? Spring is a happy, colorful time....isn't it? Where are all the happy, smiley voters? We have a fog of zombies, grouchy bears, robots crushing butterflies...but no entry that is happy go lucky. As much as I like a lot of the fog entries, I wish we had at least one that represents a colorful happy Springtime.

edit: oops... no longer neck in neck with skull/spider...as I wrote it, it got two more votes. Surprised that even a Spring derby brought out the darkside....

Probably, but that'll be a shame seeing as argyle is enjoying a resurgence on the fashion scene. Even American Eagle has gotten into the act in the last month or two. http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?catId=cat90012&productId=prod2440101

Viva la argyle! Or is that l'argyle? Anyway, Woot should have an argyle-themed derby. The possibilites are endless, although some are a tad too mainsteam for my tastes.

I do like this tree, though. The mushroom cloud effect really draws the eye.

Thanks adderxyu and parkermc, it's really more of an illustration of how I get my ideas. I just put on the bear suit and rock back and forth on a springy guinea pig until something hits me. Like transcendental meditation for crazy people.

Unfortunately, skulls are everywhere these days. Trying to buy skullless shirts these days, even for kids, is an adventure. A loooooooooooooong adventure. And that's not a good thing.

Okay, this is one skull on a shirt that I can appreciate. One that actually has a point -- so to speak.

Is there an intentional smiley face made by the hammock and those two leaves, or just coincidnece I am seeing? Sadly can't get past it to give my vote right now... :-/
I love the concept and chillin' in the hammock scene, might get my vote when I look again later...

Hmm, just went in for 3 Randoms, when I haven't bought any shirts lately (although still checking frequently) so what are the chances of liking them!?! Oh well, couldn't pass up the mystery!

I do like this design, but I'm with klswoot, the flowers get lost in the yellow. Perhaps different flowers would show up better? I know you chose spring flowers, but there are others from which to choose, too. This is too good to let a shirt color dominate the design.

Re: Florida Pompano (Re-Sub)

I would like some input on why this vacuums. I will admit that I just discovered the pen tool a week ago, but I feel like this is better than some other designs that have more votes. Please give me some constructive criticism. Is the lack of expertise blatantly evident? Or is it just that people don't want to wear shirts with fish on them? I don't mean to sound like a whiner. I didn't expect a winner or anything, I just thought maybe a few votes would come my way.

This site and it's derbies have inspired me to create and I'd like to know what I could be doing to improve on my designs.

Thanks.

Re: The Birdgylement of Spring...

As I mentioned in another thread, argyle has really jumped back onto the fashion scene this spring. It's everywhere in the mall. Ran into it in virtually every mall clothing store just yesterday. Even American Eagle has it front and center in their stores: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?catId=cat90012&productId=prod2440101 As does JC Penney's. Weird how it's come back so prominently. What's old really is new, again.

This is a clever take on a classic design. Normally, I'd reward that with a vote, but when it's already in JC Penney's it's too mainstream and common for me.

Re: (resub) Germination of a Seed

I really like the idea of this. I am not a big fan of the horizontal line that goes across the shirt, i feel it throws the whole design off....it would look alot better if it was removed and then differentiate the roots from the plant ...more brown and green tones

Re: Florida Pompano (Re-Sub)

This is the first time I've seen this design, but the fish are executed very well. In fact, my entire thought when I opened the thread was, "Nice fish, but how is this spring-related?"

Don't know if that helps.
