Re: First Ride

AdderXYU wrote:There are lots of things that are right with this design (and I really like how you busted out the boldest colour out there for it, yet made it seem natural), but the design seems to drown itself out, so that the motorcycle element seems lost in the greenery.

I agree w/ Adder's assessment.
I'd like to see the greens thinned out to reveal more of the bike, as well. But I like where you were going with this. It's one of the few distinctly motorcycle-themed designs I've seen in awhile on this site (maybe ever), which makes me both happy and sad.
It reminds me of an older Triumph or Norton that's been abandoned in a field for awhile and now it needs to get weed-whacked and ridden!
And, wow! a peach shirt, bold indeed - again happy and sad. that wuz teh funneh

I agree that it does look like an 'a', but I might not have noticed it until I saw the comment. GMV anyway. =P

You might want to try vectoring this photo and resubmitting. The Woot folks don't take kindly to photographs.

I'd like to think mine's different enough to stand but that's what everyone says so if/when it gets rejected I'll remove it. ^_^;

Why would it get rejected? None of these links are to a previous derby entry.

But if it does, you can add the lines from your original drawing and call it Spring Icon Behind Bars.

My girl wanted a tree with birds and a nest. I hope you all enjoy the design. I could spend a lot longer working on it but want to get it turned in before bed.

snarkygal wrote:Must have bought the same vector art pack

And your point? If you purchase design elements for commercial use, why is this a problem so long as your final design is your own vision and not copied from another person's design. I think you are missing the whole idea behind graphic design. Andy's design looks like a graphic design or tattoo entry rather than an 'art' entry. People like this sort of thing. It doesn't have to be your type of shirt, but there's really no need to get nasty. But I know these comments seem to make you happy ... gotta live up to that username.

Don't worry Narkus. That's just snarky. Especially sad when I spent 16 hours on the 3 entries, 2 of which are hand-drawn. The only one with modified vectors took 4 hours and is 100% my own vision...vectors excluded. But, there's no convincing those that have such strong opinions. Better to just let it rest...

I do love Snarky's username, however. It's great!

tgentry wrote:Ha, while I like the idea of a female version, it might just cut the votes for this one in half and neither would have a chance of placing. At least it could go like that I guess. Thanks for the interest though. I like the idea of the fuzzy human slippers too, but it would be too close to Chobomb's human teddy bears really.

Definitely don't enter another version for this derby. I agree. It would compete against the fogged one. But, it might be something to keep on the back burner for another design outside of woot. Might be a good one for you.

OH.... MY.... GOSH. I cannot believe there is a shirt submitted at Woot that has a Florida Pompano on it. I used to do research on how to raise them for aquaculture. What a great fish. They really are beautiful when you watch them swim. And they are extremely tasty. I wish I could say that I would wear this, but as a female, I just can't see myself wearing a large fish on my shirt... if only it was smaller... Nice job on the detail though!
