Re: COWBELL HERO IN Baiting other consumers REPEAT (Blue Oyster Cult)

I was going to ask for an enlargement of the letters to see what was typed in them. Woot has rejected a couple of entries since the font was too small. But woot also rejected an item because the design created letters instead of letters creating design, which I think this would be.

My very first entry; please show a little love and encouragement. Besides, who doesn't love Peace? Is it you? Do you hate puppies, also? ;)

Oh by the way, that E is meant to be read twice. Just a stylistic choice.

I like that this is very different. I can't tell from the screen, so I hope that all the om's are large enough to print.

AttilaTheMom wrote:This is the most creative idea of this whole derby so far. Great job kls.

Thanks Nate and Attila! Personally...I adore this one! It's losing ground though and keeps falling. I knew it had a female focus, but couldn't shake the need to make the design. I was hoping maybe some of the male woot voting contingent would like it well enough to consider voting on it as a possible gift for mother, wife, girlfriend, sister, friend, etc.

No problem. It was a lot of fun to create and I'm happy with how it turned out. Plus, I got a call from my dad who looks at my entries each week. He said it is favorite so far. That made it worth the effort! (He didn't even realize the wrought iron stands were made out of words too.)

Hey...maybe I can make your list this week though. First-time. *wink*

eHalcyon wrote:I like how each bird is formed differently with the same letters, rather than just copy-and-pasted. I liked the red ones better though. Not sure why.

Excellent work either way.

Hey Thanks eHalcyon! I appreciate it! I did the red ones first. But, they looked too much like cardinals and would probably be considered more of a winter bird, so I decided to first upload the blue ones as they looked more like a Spring BlueJay.

Now I'm thinking about the phrase "too hot to hoot." Palindromes ftw!

I wonder if a palindrome submission would have done well...

Too hot to hoot are all in there too!

Love your <3 entry BTW! I have to admit, I didn't realize that <3 = heart emoticon. I figured it was a 'less than value' and 3 was a play o the letter 'e'. So the less than value could be shorted to (LV) and the 3 represented a backwards curvy 'e' for LV3 or a cute way of saying LOVE. Now I know better....

Thanks for the great comments! I avoided the temptation to put too much stuff in there, since it loses its effectiveness. But yea, I thought of adding jellyfish too. Since you mentioned diving (one of my hobbies too), a previous version had a poor scuba diver made of letters- "Victim"... thought it was a bit too much though.

Thanks!

Not only that, but the fact that it's using an area-proportional projection map. I'm sick of maps that make Africa look smaller than North America.

Now, if only South were oriented towards the top of the shirt.

eHalcyon wrote:I agree that this isn't parody. Is pacman in the public domain? I recall a shirt with pumpking pacman and a ghost - would that have counted as parody?

Pacman, or at least the name, is indeed in the public domain. Any company has the right to name a game or anything Pacman.

The design of characters and gameplay however, I am not sure. But I believe they are in the public domain as well.

skaght wrote:I had this same idea, but I was gonna put a little halo over it that said "holy."

It will probably be rejected any way. I just did it because I came home from work and my old dog had crapped all over, and it looked somewhat like this. I've never designed a shirt , and I don't even have this layered. Crap!

Yes, great minds run on the same track...

brizz wrote: The designer has NOTHING to do with whether a shirt is rejected. Zip Zilch Zero.

While I do wish this is how it it would happen, I'm not sure that is an entirely true statement. I'm new to woot, so someone may have already suggested this, but why don't they just keep the designer names hidden until voting closes for that paticular derby? Then favortism wouldn't even have a chance in effecting votes or rejections. It would be totally about the shirts.
