Thanks!... I thought it may get more love, but it's sorta flailing in a sea of text this week. We'll see how much better or worse it does once Joel takes the rejectonator out tomorrow around 10am ish CST. That's usually when we see the weekend rejections take place. I hope it moves up a little and gets a bit more notice.

invisiblecrazy wrote:It's possible that people are reacting to the fact that one of the original versions of this children's rhyme was "eeny meeny miny moe, catch a n****r by the toe" and can then be construed as racist.
I know you're not being racist at all--don't get me wrong! I just know the history of the rhyme since I did a paper on the whole "changes of oral tradition" theme, and people tend to shy away from anything that might be even *barely* construed as racist by the furthest possible stretch of the imagination...

BTW the colors are great, the tiger shape is great...I LOVE the Blake poem idea, though--it might be worth it!

I believe that "tiger" was the original version. The nursery rhyme is English; the N-word is American, and earlier known versions of the poem don't have the N-word in it.

Personally, I didn't even know that there was a racist version to this rhyme until someone mentioned that this shirt might be controversial. Maybe it's because I'm Canadian.

I like this idea.. actually i had this idea on my own.. that wuz teh funneh.. but i would have prefered that each word (atleast each letter) be it's own color... it is too easy imo to put some words down and then put colors where they work. o well. Good job with the design and congrats on making it to the fog! I don't want to take away from that just wanted to give my 2 cents

mjc613 wrote:Have you considered resubmitting but without the word SHIRT on the design itself? It still would be a chicken shirt....

thanks mj for the suggestion. I did think about changing the wort "shirt" to the word "rock".. then it would read "chickens rock"... but there are so many great designs that i decided to spend my time on school... . I really do appreciate the suggestion though. maybe ill do something good next week...

dang it i'd SO buy this if it were printed! i need more nerdy lit tees for my colleagues to groan at.

better this than two "quoth the raven" shirts. IMHO, shakespeare tee > poe tee.

Yeah, I started playing with them a while to keep them from looking so different from the others. I noticed a little bit of a face in them once I put the 'holes' in them L O L. I think at the positions they're in, only the B way to the right can really give that feel now. Although, once you see the face in the letters, you see them on all three B's

Re: Binary Man

I'm happy to see that the binary across the bottom of the design actually spells out Binary Man (yes I typed in the whole binary string to see.)

01000010 01001001 01001110 01000001 01010010 01011001 00100000 01001101 01000001 01001110
= Binary Man
Check for yourself here

The only thing I would have preferred was a bit more to the design. I mean, I realize he's 1's and 0's but perhaps it could have been elaborated upon. Basically it's a stick person without more detail.

I don't think this is what woot is looking for this week. The idea is to take text and make them form an image. Take a look at other entries to see what I mean.

Re: Tiny Bubbles

This is really cool. Do you think it would it get more votes if the whole shirt or all the letters were shown in the thumbnail? I almost went right past it. It wasn't until I got to see the whole shirt that I realized what it was and had that "Oh, that's good" moment.

I don't think they're similar. In mine, the graphic is made with text. In theirs, the text is next to the graphic. No similarities at all.

Re: Pub Song

I think you need to be more worried about the size of the font. Woot sometimes shies away from smaller fonts since they don't always print well.

Check to see that your smallest font is at least 1 pt. And be prepared if they say that 1 pt isn't good enough, since they may have new info.
