Re: 1988- It's a bird, it's a plane

Nothing against RFMLK (which sounds like a KMFDM cover band), but seriously, we need a ruling on whether dead people are exempt from "celebrity likeness" rules, and why

Re: 1983. The Song. The Year of Apocalyptic Doom.

This is my first time posting here. Hope you like the design. It's based off the apocalyptic song "1983" by Jimi Hendrix. 13 minutes of pure psychedelic funk.

Re: 1959- Che and Fidel took over cuba

Again, celeb imagery? Castro is, at the moment at least, still alive, so if the "being dead" thing is what saves it, this isn't saved. Give us some concrete rules as to what gets that specific ax.

Re: 1981 Springbok Tour

Here's the story behind this shirt design:

The 1981 Springbok Tour was a rugby tour where the South African team, the Springboks, traveled to New Zealand to play a bunch of games. As South African was still experiencing apartheid at this time, it was a very controversial decision to allow the team to compete in New Zealand, and it was heavily protested.

Anyway, in my illustration the springbok is crying, shamed by its actions, as it clings to a rugby ball that features a map of New Zealand.

Re: 1985 Coke Can PWN!

In 1985, the Coca Cola company tried to reinvent itself, creatively calling their newer, sweeter product "New Coke." Consumers hated it, and in two months old school Coca Cola Classic ruled the shelves once again...

Re: 1989 Tear Down this Wall

This is one of the better designs I've seen so far. I've been mildly disappointed with the submissions so far but that could be due to my lack of a design idea. O well. Good job! GMV!

1986 Shirt - Priceless.

For everything else there's MasterWoot.

We'll see anyway.

I don't know, by that logic you could put Mario on a shirt because a plumbers hat, overalls, mustache, and the letter M are not copyrighted by Nintendo. Looks like you made it through the first round of rejections though, so you may be good to go.

I struggled to try to come up with a design like this. This is not the direction I was going with it but that turned up a dead-end anyway. Good job.

maybe just on a can? That is pretty odd to me.

What's odder is that coke has copyrighted a colour, but apparently not that big iconic "C", as proved by Consumerism. Or did woot get slapped by their lawyers and that led to this?

This would look PERFECT with way less detail and some pointless filigree to either side of it.

If I recall correctly, I think one of the main arguments behind the "theory" that we didn't go to the moon is that there's apparently no wind on the moon, yet the flag was blowing in the video.

The flag didn't move at all once the telescoping bar from which it was suspended had been extended. The fan in the shirt is the one point keeping me from voting for it.
