Here is some basic fencing info. Measure the perimeter of the yard to determine how much fencing you will need and divide by 8 to see how many 8' segments you will have. Go to the local do-it yourself store and price how much each 8' segment will cost and multiply by the number of segments to determine the cost of the fence. You can buy pre-built gates if you want, so you can price those at the store. Now, in addition to materials, you will need tools. A post hole digger, string level, hammer, a saw, tweezers, and good work gloves. Try to borrow a post hole digger if you don't have one. Unless you go in the fence business or plan to build a deck you will never use it again! If you have a ton of holes to dig then you will want to rent a power post hole digger. If you are building a fence in Texas clay soil it will be well worth any cost! You will also need to stock up on band-aids, alcohol, and neosporin. Once you figure out the cost, contact some pros and get some estimates. Then you can decide if it is worth it to do it yourself. I hope this info is helpful!

a laser sight for straight lines and something to mark where the post holes go is good. and if you are putting up a new fence along a property line you may want to get it surveyed first... to avoid nasty lawsuits with neighbors over the "you put that fence 4" onto my property" carp. Most privacy fences are 8' tall, and if you go to lowes or home depot to price them, know how many feet you will need to fence, and don't forget to add in the price of all the attachemnt thingys, nails, etc. They have preassembled sections of 8' privacy fence which would make things easier, but it's vinyl so more expensive.

I read a book for a blog tour review called SuperMom, where a mom had an accident involving fumes and a Swiffer wet jet, and she was able to squirt cleaning solution with her finger, and had scrubbies on her hand, then she had a tool belt with kleenex, band-aids, etc. I'd love to see something like that.

I'm limited in execution ability, though. ah well.

Meanwhile I have a feeling I'm going to get annoyed this derby. It's one thing to play around with moms and do geeky mom things (woo-hoo!), but I really don't like the poke-fun-at-moms concept. And I'm desperately hoping that the MILF idea doesn't come into play at all. REALLY hoping. I'm glad that some of my favorite designers are either parents or like kids.

Didn't think of the MILF thing... hope Joel has a low tolerance for that junk. I did two other sketches, but the wife said they looked more like Hallmark cards than t-shirt designs. One was a little rabbit giving a momma rabbit a bunch of flowers. The other was a mom fish sitting in a la-z-boy telling stories to little fish.

Nope, but we have an Imagewriter in the back hall right now. I'm letting the kids take it apart on Tuesday, along with a Stylewriter. Mac geeks here. Just a couple years younger than you, but still geeky since college. I do remember using SPSS on a PC so I could gather the data for my senior thesis..

My husband was Epson printer repair certified about 20 years ago (and is still fixing printers & everything else), so I'm betting he could fix yours if it broke.

Those darn Epsons always broke on the two little arms that held the perforation paper down... This one we got for some reason didn't break there...

I'm currently typing on my new MacBook Pro, and have several old Macs in the lab (PowerMac 8500 and a Mac IIcx). THOSE are old..

I have a feeling that Joel won't allow any of the MILF stuff through, its so far outside the PG-13 zone, but it could still be up for a while given the timing on rejections.

I love the fish idea. you draw good fish. Looking at past shirts, sometimes the hallmarky stuff gets a lot of love, and sometimes it doesn't. But hey, you can make your own cards for Mother's day, at least!

I have a feeling there will be an interesting mix of designs.

I've got a regular MacBook, couldn't justify the Pro just yet. I need more RAM badly, though. We have an incredible stockpile of old Macs - 8500, LC 580, IIse, a couple iMacs, a PowerMac all-in-one (that looks like a tooth), etc etc etc. I'm trying to get my husband to agree to let me take the IIse with the 2 printers for demolition. Its edumacational, and that thing was outdated when it was released.

So, plenty of geeky momery here. Though every time we move I try to junk some of the useless computer parts. We haven't moved in 4 years, though, so they're adding up again. I got rid of the Lisa during our last move.

no, but i have one of these... http://starklab.slu.edu/Erg/com.jpg. I haven't tried to turn it on in years though... I had an old epson color printer though. I think it was a C100.

I remember the Color II. It was a wide-format printer, if I recall (I had one). Kinda tall, wide, and a bit shallow front to back. We had a Color II and/or a IIs... can't find a good pic on the web.

Its worse than Texas clay... its in the rocky soil of central Texas. I do truly appreciate your advice. We did however find a house that only needs internal updates of the kind that can be done in the sweet sweet air conditioned air.

srsly... as far as the description, what should i put? does the sizing coincide with us standards or does it seem somewhat european? they are an american company, but i think these american companies that are 'fashion' apparel suppliers seem to be off size wise. that one you got isnt so bad cause it is SUPER Stretchy isnt it?

I posted in chat but you werent there so i posted here so you could see it and this is a L but I could probably stand an XL but maybe not the sleeves are so long and the M you sent with it is seriously tiny like my daughter looked at it and said "mom I couldn't even fit my head through there" so its a good thing I have a tiny friend and it might even be too small for her as she is thin but long so it may go to monkey, my friend leesa's 6 yr old.

and i'd probably suggest people go one size up from normal. and that medium looks like a kid size, not an adult and it isn't that stretchy.

No no no i'm keeping this one. It feels good and fits fine. Just saying the XL would be not so stretched across the chest llo. Are they all different brands of shirts?

most are next level apparel. which are similar sizing to the LS you have.

foil bird, penguins are kavio. i think those are Definitely smaller than US standards. the only one i never liked from NLA is the one you said your child could not fit her head in. i really like the lilac/eggplant ringer but its too small. ;(

the lovebirds ringer is actually on HYP. but its an expensive shirt. i like them too, because they have a tendency to be a little more larger than the fashion fit. loose, and high quality.

all this knowledge about womens apparel... and im straight....

congrats! Wishing you an easy closing and good air conditioning.

My husband started nattering on about fencing, and I would suggest not buying a house that needs fencing unless you have teenagers you can "supervise" while they do the heavy work. That's what his dad did.

Yeah, we probably won't. There is more than one house we like that have fence issues. We ended up calling a local contractor and based on the price per square foot quoted, it would have been way too much money for a fence. So we were really happy to find a house that had only just been listed yesterday that needs new flooring (which is much easier to do yourself), but not much else. If we are able to get an offer accepted on this house, this will be the back yard:

oh, wow. *swoon* Crossing fingers that the offer is accepted quickly, and there is very little hassle involved. You are having the offer contingent on inspection, yes? Know too many people who would've been burned otherwise. Congrats on finding a great house! with a greenhouse and a gorgeous yard, too. lucky!

we haven't been able to buy a house because we moved to New England. I totally get your excitement, and hope I can share it. someday.
