To the designer - do you have a website of your work?

This is a SICK shirt. I can't wait to buy one when it wins.

I've been lurking, checking out the entries for a couple of days, and nobody else's inspired a comment before this one....

Since you like to quote Wikipedia:

Copyright does not cover ideas and information themselves, only the form or manner in which they are expressed. For example, the copyright to a Mickey Mouse cartoon restricts others from making copies of the cartoon or creating derivative works based on Disney's particular anthropomorphic mouse, but doesn't prohibit the creation of other works about anthropomorphic mice in general, so long as they're different enough to not be judged copies of Disney's. In many jurisdictions, copyright law makes exceptions to these restrictions when the work is copied for the purpose of commentary or other related uses (See Fair Use, Fair Dealing). Meanwhile, other laws may impose additional restrictions that copyright does not — such as trademarks and patents.

Now... looking at the Fair Use definition on Wikipedia:

The first factor is about whether the use in question helps fulfill the intention of copyright law to stimulate creativity for the enrichment of the general public, or whether it aims to only "supersede the objects" of the original for reasons of personal profit. To justify the use as fair, one must demonstrate how it either advances knowledge or the progress of the arts through the addition of something new. A key consideration is the extent to which the use is interpreted as transformative, as opposed to merely derivative.

I've got a family full of lawyers, and frankly, not one of them would ever defend this as parody.

The previous Cho shirt with video game characters was different enough from original works based heavily on the colors used... they were limited so that the typical Red and blue plumber with an "M" on his cap wasn't identifiable as the image persay.

And no... you cannot argue that the current 3-D Mario justifies using a 2-D Mario.

Nintendo owns the copyright on the character in all dimensions... Even the Time-traveling fourth dimensional Dr. Mario

TAYLORT5 wrote:A revolution (from the Latin revolutio, "a turnaround") is a significant change that usually takes place in a short period of time. Aristotle described two types of political revolution:

Complete change from one constitution to another.
Modification of an existing constitution.

why is that that some people just see battle in revolution..............like you

The problem, and I'm really not trying to be antagonistic here, is that I'm not getting any sort of "revolution" message from the shirt itself. For instance, the little frogs are all identical, reinforcing what I see as a message of conformity, of obedience. They and the frog king are all facing the same direction, again, a unity or conformity thing. Now, if they are united in their revolution, okay. If they are rising up against the humans, cool. I just don't see that on the shirt is all.

You're right, also, that not all revolutions are violent ones. But not all changes are revolutions, either.

Re: Revolution- Bit by Bit

I might recommend some use of the yellow you use for Mario's buttons on the key, maybe make part of the lock parts brass, etc. It would create some life to the scenery outside of the characters themselves. Some detail on the waste basket would be a nice addition as well. As it stands, it seems like a well drawn Mario on top of a black and white scene, and that makes it not seem very cohesive for me.

Well... it just sounds wrong to me. But looking at it closer, I'm actually not sure.

I think the proper phrasing would be "I will not incite a revolt" or "I will not incite revolts", but I may be wrong about that. =\

Compare:

"I will eat apple."
"I will eat an apple."
"I will eat apples."

well i looked online, there were shirts that had the declaration of independence on them, but i couldnt find any that had the "X" and the line for another signature. However, while my logic is telling me this isnt the case, there was another shirt submitted around the time my shirt got pulled which also had the declaration of independence on it. I dont want to point any fingers so I'll wait until woot gets back to me

thanks for the constructive criticism. I had originally made the key grey, and neglected to remake it when I started counting colors, but yeah, the yellow would have been a much better use. The intended to be brown, but ultimately white floor is also kind of stark. Probably should have put a hole in the sole of his shoe too, and greyed up the soles.

This is my first entry in a long while. I hope you all like it.

I hope it speaks for itself but just in case I'll explain.

The theme is a mix of the game Dance Dance Revolution (off theme) and the Russian Revolution (on theme). Together, I hope they make a widely appealing entry.

Thanks for looking!

Keep in mind that once a shirt has been rejected, it cannot be un-rejected even if it deserves to be put back in. The best you can do is resubmit and hope it doesn't get rejected again. If you do that, you may wish to argue your case in the description. If it gets rejected again, you may get a clearer explanation as to the reason why.
