Re: Sublimican Republic
I really want this shirt, but I know that if it wins and goes up for sale, it'll be gone in the first hour and i'll be left in the cold...without a shirt. Great shirt. GMV
SaritaBeth wrote:holy cow this is a funny shirt. I LOVE it. right up my alley sense of humor wise. the fine print slays me. especially the bit about the bunnies. I would totally wear this shirt, fine print and all, even though it would mean people leering at my chest and going in really close to read it. :P
I thought about the whole bosom staring problem when I was making it but I couldn't think of any other place to put the fine print... maybe all the way at the bottom, I'm not sure if that would be more awkward or less. Thank you so much! I'm glad everyone likes it as much as I do. If it doesn't end up getting posted I'm definitely putting up a storefront for it elsewhere in 60 days. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for you votes!

this is hilarious though. i'm not sure i would wear any other derby shirt.

Here's where you run into trouble: "Artist shall not use the Artwork in any manner or submit the Artwork to anyone else to be used in any manner." You can't even have that logo on the website.
Re: The Toxic Isles
Last-minute votes? I know it was a late sub, but you like it anyway. ^_~
redghia69 wrote:Thanks 2thFairy, I always appreciate your encouragement. I thought the concept/design might go over well (pigs/pigs dreaming of flying/pig latin -- I still think it’s funny) but this shirt is on track to be one of my lowest finishes, even including late submissions. Just goes to show what I know about this contest, huh? Or to prove again that you just can’t tell what’s going to be hot week to week.... I know the reduced thumbnail looks pretty bad. Maybe I’ll just blame that for now. There are a lot of good designs out there, so even if I'm feeling lost in the mix, I have nothing to complain about!
\ I voted for this on the first day of the derby and am disappointed it didn't do better. It is a great design, very clever with the pig latin. Like you say, you never know what's going to be hot from week to week. A lot of really nice designs didn't get much attention this week. Well, I would have bought this in a heartbeat. My husband is a great pig fan, he would have loved this, too.
Re: Fantasma: Land of Dreams
*sigh* Well, looks like I'll be saving some money this derby - if this doesn't make it to print... :-(

Well, you can always hope for several sets of equal vote counts..
Re: Bubbly Wubbly World
Another cool entry! Dang, not getting the love though... Cool shirt to wear to the waterpark
Re: Youbetchücan!
This is perfect for all of us who are "The glass is half full" people". Also it would aggrivate the heck out of all those "The glass is half empty" folks to death.
Re: Republic of Onomatopoeia
Should be great for all comic bookies who live vicariously in Metropolis and Gotham City.
Re: Checkerslovakia
What a wonderful shirt for Dad or Grandpa for Father's Day! Back in the day, you always played checkers with them.

Re: The Pica Republic
I get all the jokes and appreciate them, but I just wish that the fox was actually jumping for one, and two, that the dog was actually lazy. To me the dog looks like a young spry puppy who won't quit howling. This shirt has all the elements of a graphic design joke (a fox and a dog and lorem ipsum and the name the pica republic) but I just don't think they're delivered well.
Re: Oblivion Republic
The symbol would be really hot if it had an elephant on it and would be perfect to wear between now and the first Tuesday in November, if you catch my drift.
**The fox looks more like a flying squirrel.
Re: Visit Mechaslavia!
This is by far the BEST shirt in the derby... i just wish I could vote more than once. Great job!
Coll shirt for sure

it still totally rocks. I want this shirt in the worst way. so keep us posted, or submit it for a daily or something. there have really been awesome shirts this derby. i am sure if this had been submitted earlier, it would have made it into the fog. it fits the theme perfectly. the fine print sells it completely. its like Issac Asimov meets Terry Prachett. which equal pure genius in my book. (hee no pun intended) n_n

C'mon people, this deserves to be in the top 3! Plus I want one... :-p
Eastaer wrote:i dont think the border will be on it, I accidentally had a border on my first submission. It comes on the template.
yeah. that happened to me too. they take it off if they make your shirt. nice idea though. kinda blury so i cant tell what it is

Well, I'm a "glass half empty" person and still love the humor of this shirt!
*giggles*. Kamchatka's always been the coolest RISK country...or maybe Irtusk....
Re: All Hail the Menagerie Republic! (Animalia v.2)
I am so glad you wrote this description, because it helped me see what you meant us to see. I thought this was a dog's head and I thought the fire was its mouth. I like your explanation much better! GMV
Re: In..ternet We Trust
This looks like it has more than 6 colors of ink. I am also concerned that the thin lines won't print well.

ok, i didnt really look that deep into it. It was just for fun. just reject it then since it was on the website before the derby then. I didnt think it would be a big deal since i did the artwork myself. now i know for future derbys. lesson learned i guess. thanks for the insight.
mjc613 wrote:If this is a logo for a company you are starting, then it can't be an emblem for an imaginary land/nation/place. Your website has 6/1 as the starting date and this design, so I'd say you have a legal problem.
I know the date is off, we had to push off a bit to finish up the LET THEM PUMP GAS project. It will be done on the 15th... its going to be a pretty cool site and idea, so check back then. And that splash page has been up for about 3 weeks now. I asked them just to reject the design now because it was on the website first. lesson learned.
Re: Gnoman Empire
Wasn't this place destroyed after the civil war? They took refuge with the dwarves, right? Doesn't really matter, FTH!

Woot still has rights to the design, though. It doesn't matter if it gets rejected, they still own the rights to the design for 60 days.
very cool
i still dont get what "pluck" means
@starryeyedsky - I hope you (and your husband!) get to purchase the shirt, though things are looking grim. @invisiblecrazy - well, there were those two raven shirts from the text as art derby... but thanks for the support! @magicelso - thanks for the compliments. I actually think the opposite of you - that I did fairly well for hitting the theme, but my execution was only so-so. @pennglendinning - The fox is in mid-jump. I don't think my puppy looks so spry, though he could certainly be more lazy. Someone told me that he looks like he just woke up and is a bit surprised. I agree that the execution could have been much better, but I'm not the greatest artist - I'm working at it. I complete disagree that the fox looks like a flying squirrel though. No way. Thanks for the comments everyone! This is my first fogged entry and I appreciate the support the design has received. Whether I get a shiny new "So Close" badge on SDS come Sunday or, by some miracle or fluke I manage to place, I'm definitely happy with (and a little surprised at) how I've done this derby. Thank-you, democratic republic of woot!

heh, I meant the position of his legs, not his coloration or anything . . . sorry for the poor phrasing. I'd expect a fox's legs in mid jump to be stretched out in front and behind . . . not to the side. ANYWAYS, kudos on the fog.

Congrats eHalcyon!!! The worst you could possibly have done now is 4th place, which is pretty impressive indeed. While I certainly hope you place 3rd or better so I can get the shirt, congratulations are in order either way! On a side note, this is the first derby ever where I have felt the top 4 actually deserved to be there. The top 4 shirts this week are my top 4 picks as well. Either the designs were just above and beyond the others and it was obvious to everyone, or Woot is implanting thoughts in my head telekinetically...I hope it's the first one.
