Re: The Pica Republic

Thanks for the comments once again, everyone.

@GF - Ah, that makes much more sense! Yeah, I suspect that the phrase would be used in typing classes. It's a rather popular pangram.

@sfsnyder - Thanks for sharing that story!

@Eastaer and hmmxkrazee - I believe most would have voted for the cute factor, though I believe a few voters would have appreciated the humour as well, given the comments made. tandusi above summarizes what I was going for rather concisely. I don't know how much longer I can last in the fog though... there are lots of amazing designs rising up.

I never said they ARE royalty, i said they sometimes like to feel like royalty. Swarovski is more for those tacky Paris Hilton types.

Re: DinoIsland Rules! v.2 (Greener)

Here's a brighter green version of my entry. The other looked a little too subdued IMO. Here everything's a little brighter and more distinct.

Can you imagine it? A place where everything is timestamped so you always know what's new, what's old, everything has an order. Organization is a top priority in Timestamp Republic.

This reminded me of something, and then I remembered the TV show the Time Tunnel. Did a search, and while the show's logo had concentric rings and a person or 2 nearby, none of the pictures looks like this. Posting this to save anyone the trouble of looking.

I think it'd look fabulous on the bottom of the shirt on the side! Or perhaps on the back of a shirt or on the front pocket...

burblespork wrote:This would be my vote if the colors were just blue, yellow and white. Great design but the extra colors at the bottom are distracting. You got the color scheme down with the green version though! (But I still like blue better!)

Thanks for the comments, and I understand what you mean. Looking at it again, the box does detract a bit from the main design. It doesn't blend well with the other elements. My intention though was to incorporate yet another element of the graphic design world by using the cmyk color scheme. I appreciate your thoughts.

woot is a joke. People have no idea what they are voting for. There are a lot of designers that put a lot of hard work into their art and get nothing in return. When something like this comes along, that didn't take any effort at all, and gets 50 votes in a couple of hours. Yeah, i get the procrastination bit, but that doesn't make it right.

To be fair to the voters, they have no way of judging whether or not something is clip art. To them, this looks like a piece that someone put a lot of time and effort in to (and someone did- the person who uploaded it to iStockPhoto). It's just too bad that the person who did all that work isn't the person who entered this.
