This makes me laugh! It's silly and repulsive and "Ewwww" and "Awwww" at the same time. You've got some talent there, yes you do.

Seriously, folks... it doesn't matter if you want this design made or not, please support this unrejection in the interest of fairness here. You'd want them to be fair to your design, so please ask for fairness for all designs.

Okay... so who here knows how to make a petition? Mia, you said you've e-mailed Woot, would you be willing to take all the designer's names who post agreement here and e-mail it to Woot? You can use my introduction blurb if you like.

A petition would be a bit odd, since everyone who disagrees with this being rejected is already free to post about it here.

Woot has set up these forums for us to express our opinions in, I see no reason to start another path of communication to them. We can't really know for sure what all went on because no one here has seen the print file. If anything, it's a good lesson in the importance of submitting that right away (though obviously Woot also made some questionable choices in rejecting without asking first).

I don't recall ever having any real disagreement with you.

We do know what went on, having seen what Myztri and Joel said to one another. And, yes, Woot should certainly have asked to see a close-up first. The reason I suggested a petition is that I don't know that the rejection master actually reads every single forum. Of course, the more we go on talking about it, the more likely he will see this.

Mitohapa wrote:As much as I'd like to say that the asymmetrical nature of the faded wings has some fabulous reasoning behind it...it really was more of a lark on my part. Mostly due to my own, quirky personal preference. That, and the shadow wing was lifted and redrawn from one of my larger pencil pieces, in which I'd forgotten to draw the other side. It's true that it wouldn't fit in the box if the larger wing was on both sides, but it never even occurred to me to try it. In retrospect, I feel a little silly about the whole thing. :\

I also wanted to extend another thanks for all the kindness in the comment boxes-- my heart has been thoroughly warmed. And for all the votes...wow. Imagine my surprise! Thank you all so, so much.

*giggles*...thanks for being honest. It's an AWESOME design don't get me wrong...but I can't look at it and NOT be like...that butterfly is f'ed for flying without that wing. Props.

Re: Resub- Mehndi Butterflies -By Request

Tracy

I apologize for taking the work in progress out of context. I'd looked at the submitted thumbnail and detail image and wasn't able to tell conclusively so when I saw the link to your page, I followed. I would also have checked the print ready artwork, but didn't have that until this recent email. A resubmission seems possible at this point. We've definitely had later entries manage to win.

Thanks
Joel

Please note that nothing has been changed about the comp or print ready file, aside from woot HAVING it, but because I got no less than 20 people requesting this be resubbed, I did.

While this is very well done, it appears to have gradients in it. Woot can't print gradients, sorry about that!

this is the problem with the derbies. People will throw anything out that might possibly resonate, and I betcha anything people are voting for this largely because he slapped a 42 on it. If that is somehow more worthy of printing than some of the work lingering below the fog, I guess I need new eyes.

Yes, I'm sure all the votes have nothing to do with the design. *eye roll*

Adder: Can you tell us what the three best designs are in this derby, according to your finely honed design eye?

Ah...you must have replied several times in the main derby thread, then, since that explanation/description is not on the shirt page itself...
it is now, though, since I posted from the shirt page, and your reply showed up here as well, so hopefully you won't get any more comments about it. :-)

...so does Rascal want a date? ;-)

Heh!

Ahh, my mortification has only been increasing. Such an oops on my part! And my winged friend does seem doomed by my silliness...but I guess this little three-winged butterfly still flies, regardless. It's a stubborn one.

Figures that the last line of the caption on the original design was, "So, maybe there is hope for all us odd ones." It has become remarkably more appropriate since I made my butterfly into a nutty, deformed one. Us crazies have to have some hope, I guess. XD

They could, but they won't, because they only reinstate submissions from more high-profile designers who come here from other shirt sites and have their entries correctly rejected. Woot veterans who get rejected for no good reason are just SOL.

GMV even if I may not buy it. It's still a very nice design and the reason your first shirt was rejected was completely unfair.

Good luck =)

Heh wow, never expected to break double digits with this design. Thanks for all the votes so far. It's over twice the votes I got in the last derby I entered (imaginationary symbols). :-D

I think had I spent another day designing this, it would have turned out much better.

Comments/criticism always requested. Thanks.

you should have had the design on a 16 inch by 20 inch 300dpi template. You should be able to make a JPG from the PSD or AI file you used to make a large version for us to view. If you don't have a large version how are we to know that your gradient is printable?

Well good job on the work and time spent; however, Woot *unfortunately* doesn't print gradients for their Derby. Just six plain colors.

Kinda reminds me of the tachikomas from Ghost in the Shell (yea I realize it's obviously Iron Man).
