EXCELLENT!!! The detail, the color selection, everything.
One of the true oxymoron shirts out there, and one of the few that can be worn without explanation.

This is funny and one of the woot shirts on here that I might buy but it is kind of childish looking. For something cool check out dsladek's "Civil War".

Don't see how it fits with the theme on this Derby, though...
You still GMV. :-)

Re: Cat Fish

This cat certainly doesn't mind getting his paws wet, probably because he doesn't have any!

Actually, he looks a lot like a cat I used to have, who'd quite happily jump into the bath with me!

If you like mythical animals, enjoy browsing my site! All of the work is my own. Why, yes, I've been doing this for a while now, why do you ask? If you're looking for my Woot entries they're here at my other site. Thank you for your interest!

Re: Repulsive Attraction

The oxymoron is "repulsive attraction." If there is an attraction there should not (maybe even CANNOT) be repulsive. UNLESS you happen to be a magnet about to be dropped in a junkyard compactor. As attractive as that bigg magnet is, it's just repulsive to think of your fate!

This deserves to win. Nothing comes close for this theme. The sheer awesomeness of it should override any rules/rejections.

Re: Long-distance Relationship

I agree that making the shirt color match the sky would improve this--you could then finish out the edges of your streetlight's illumination...you would lose the boxed-in look, which I have noticed woot voters tend not to like.
I'd love to see this one reworked, and resubmitted to a future Derby. :-)

Re: Little Jumboshrimp is Sleeping

Like the well-known oxymoron, little Jumboshrimp is the cuddly but ill-begotten love-child of Jumbo the large touring circus elephant from Africa and a sea-creature whose name does double-duty, referring both to several species of crustacean and to the diminutive members of the human race.

5 colors on a Kelly green shirt.

Besides it being a popular RHCP song title, the idea is that no one thinks of cheetahs as being slow, usually most pictures, and artwork are of either cheetah's running at lightning speeds or sleeping.

I also didn't want to beat a dead horse into a ground using common oxymoron. I don't want anyone to accuse me of stealing their idea.

Actually there is a rule against it. Did you go to the link I posted in the first derbylimpics thread and the main derbylimpics thread? Might be a good idea, there's a link to a list of rejection precedents. ^_^

Well let's see...

This is EXACTLY the same from what I can see. (ie., there isn't enough of a change to be resubbed, especially so soon when the other derby was only 2 days ago. Oh wait... I saw 1 droplet removed from the bottom XP nope, still not enough. ) and woot, as well as Joel, frown on resubs as a general rule. And I agree with spryte. You should check her list of rules.

And "pouring one's heart out" isn't oxymoronic. An oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines two usually contradictory terms in a compressed paradox, as in the word 'bittersweet' or the phrase 'living death'. Your phrase isn't contradictory, nor is it paradoxical. It is, however, an idiom: a phrase or grammatical construction that cannot be translated literally into another language because its meaning is not equivalent to that of its component words. Examples, of which there are thousands in English, include: follow suit, hell for leather, flat broke, on the wagon, well hung, etc.

Re: Beyond Infinity

It will likely get rejected. Woot considers the infinity symbol text--which means this design has more than incidental text. r

How so? It's a FedEx joke, nothing to do with woot. Woot doesn't provide the service or have anything to do with it other than use it. You can use smartpost yourself, as far as I know.

edit: they even listed it as an obvious example of an oxymoron in the contest description. That pretty much makes it on-topic, doesn't it?
