This is not incidental text, and it is not an oxymoron.

klswoot wrote:Thanks guys (and gals) It's not about being nice. Although, I appreciate your compliment. I actually understand the poster's criticism. In most cases, I'd feel the same way if I saw a relatively simple design in the fog. But, given the derby setup, I thought this was the kind of 'design on a fly' idea they had in mind.

I still expect one of the woot heavyweights to design something phenomenal in the next 24 hours and blow the fog away tomorrow.

Still...I rather like minimalism...so I actually like my design.

I liked your design too, and I am disappointed that you pulled it. I liked the Matisse feel it had and the color contrast. If you are adding to it, don't do too much, imo.

Thanks MJC. No worries. This isn't really the kind of derby that I enjoy designing for.

I won't be submitting to the Tuesday one given other commitments. But, I may have one 'worthy' entry for this derby leg by tonight.

Re: friendly fire

"Friendly fire" is an awful oxymoron. Hopefully this is a nicer take on that phrase.

Re: Automatic Drawing

The term for this type of drawing is called "automatic drawing." The term itself is oxymoronic because people usually set out drawing on purpose.

Re: Variation On Tough Love

Yet another derby entry based on the oxymoron "Tough Love." Many people seem to be using this one, but haven't done it quite like this.. yet...

the placement is meant to be on the opposite side of the wearer's heart, so that it look like tough love is challenging erm... not-so-tough love...?

thanks a lot. I really appreciate that. I probably brought the Angelou reference on myself with the title, but I'm always trying to think up catchier titles than the obvious. Maybe that was the problem... it was more obvious this way

You are correct, I gave up counting at 20 shirts that don't understand the meaning of oxymoron. I think there may be a lot of rejected designs tomorrow.

that would be assuming woot gave a Manos, the Hands of Fate about what people enter.
they dont
90% of what should be rejected wont be, there is NO consistancy

Re: An Ugly Beauty

There was a nature show that my family loved called "The Beauty of Ugly". One of the creatures that was profiled on the show was the vulture. They believed that the vulture was considered so ugly that it was beautiful. Don't know if you also agree, but here's a vulture shirt for your consideration.

Thank you for your vote.
