Re: Portrait of an Artist at Work

Portrait of an Artist at Work.

A design showing a typical day for an artist at work. The face at the bottom is made up of words such as "rent, bills, taxes, work, sell art, produce, create, etc" - words that are the reality of everyday work for the artist. But, the images springing from the mind are a wildly imaginative place with waves of creativity which are sometimes wholly independent from reality and where the fun of artWORK is created.

Thank you for your vote.

You know that boss... they're the mean, overbearing one... makes you come in to the office on Saturday, and make you destroy Tokyo on Sunday.

Enjoy everyone!! here's a WIP I screenshot just before I completed the final piece.

When trying to get to the other side of cubicle-hood, it's best to avoid distractions and follow the clearest path.

Re: Work Smart

Work smart, not hard.

I try to live by this as much as possible concerning work, and I need this shirt. I think most people need this shirt. =D

Mr. Turtle also had a cameo appearance in an early flash animation of mine. Yay!

Even when you become an adult, some things never change. Someone has to fight the good fight against poorly drawn monsters.

The union: cornerstone of American workers' rights and impetus of labor laws. As I mentioned in the forum, my design spells out UNION in a  stylized, unified way with the simple abstract background figures symbolizing a unified (unionized) mass of workers. Strength in numbers. I  realize it may be a bit difficult to read and I contemplated closing up the small space between the UN and ON to improve legibility, but  decided not to so that all of the letters would be directly connected and thus form one shape (the word is UNION afterall). I preferred the  red, white, and blue color scheme to the others I tried. Another thing I was shooting for was a design that could stand on its own outside of  the derby theme. I think I was able to do that with the design as UNION carries many meanings, not just in reference to labor unions. I hope  you like it. If so, please consider voting for it. If not, I welcome any and all feedback, especially suggestions for improvements to the  design. Thanks for checking it out.

Re: Worst Paying Job In The World

...As well as the most rewarding!

An over worked Mom is trying to get things cleaned up when her kid comes in and asks for their truck. Her reply is probably one a lot of people heard growing up, "Do I look like I have 8 hands?"

Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

Re: The Fight for Middle Management

Thanks for checking out my design! The fight for Middle Earth? Pshaw, that's nothing compared to the "FIGHT FOR MIDDLE MANAGEMENT"! Everyone's looking to get ahead, even if it's just ever so marginally.

Also, for you little detail mongers the memo above the old man's head reads "New Position: Assistant Manager. Qualifications: Whoever can club the old assistant manager to death, and at least 60 wpm."

Happy clubbing!

Your image is too high. It's outside of the printable area and very well may be rejected.

I am constantly amazed at the amount of useless tasks that get in the way of doing my actual job. It seems obvious to me that things around the office could be streamlined, but they all seem to like it the way it is. Maybe I should have been an efficiency expert?

Re: Escape from the Labyrinth

It was 2:38 on a Wednesday afternoon when Gregg finally snapped. He ran down the corridors to the supply room and grabbed the tape, Post-Its and folders. Next, it was a shuffled race to the copier. There, in its treasured drawers, waited the means for his escape. But Molly was making copies.

Five minutes later Gregg burst into his cubicle -- that cruel rectangle of metal and wall carpet -- and began constructing his salvation. Dependent upon his knowledge of old McGuiver episodes he had soon completed it. Paperclip chains connected to yard sticks that made up the frame of the wings. Push pins and Sharpie markers provided the pivot joints. Copy paper, inter-department delivery envelopes and file folders all bound by sticky tack, Post-It glue and hope skinned the frame.

At last, it was time for the escape. Aided by 20 cans of non-flammable cleaning duster Gregg was launched into the air -- free from the 4'x6' confines of his corporate cage -- and as he began rising through the air he saw his future not in the face of a clock, but in the imagination of a newly freed soul.
