Re: Donkey Kong in the style of native american art
Thought that I might point out Mario's face found in DK's chest. It was a regular practice in Northwest Native American art to have faces within the initial design. Thanks a ton for the votes and the nice comments!

Re: Brothers of Shroom in the style of Propaganda
I love this it's freaking awesome! I would buy this. I love how it looks on the shirt.
Re: Picasso-man in a cubist style
I would have bought one
Re: Fighters in Love in the Roy Lichtenstein style
I never even played this, and I still want it to win! Awesome work.
Re: **** SURREALIST ------ PACMAN *****
Wonderful design. This deserves to be much higher in the ranks. I hope it moves up! gmv

Re: Mega Man in the style of Da Vinci
Really nice! Much better than the other da vinci subs in my opinion. Great job!
Thank you everyone. It was supposed to be a loose rendition of aeris/aerith. I didn't know there was another similar to mine. Bummer :|
Re: Revenge! In the style of Edward Gorey
You knocked it out of the park! It has to move up in the rankings. I believe it. My wallet is sitting on my desk, right next to my keyboard.

I'm a little disappointed that my designs aren't doing that great this time around. I feel like they're my best. Ah, what can ya do. I'll try to keep up the good work. knightvision3d - Hah! Headless models are all the rage in Norway. Soon the trend will spread here. You didn't know? realitytwist - Thanks for the compliment! I've been trying to use my powers of mind control on this one to get it up to at least 9th place. I can feel it working... sort of. overcyn - Well, to be fair. It's only about 150 wooters that have no taste. If you stop back here again, maybe you could say what you don't like about it. I'm not offended or anything. Just curious.
youve got me so wrong. i absolutely love this one. i was just agreeing with someone that yours should be up in first or seconrd
Re: Mushroom Man
This isn't on theme: you are supposed to state what artistic theme or artist's style you are emulating in the title.
Re: His Hat, Glove and Boot in the style of Realism
Which Mario has these type of plants in it? I don't remember.
Re: Guitar Hero in the Minimalist Pucker Style!
Man, this is soooo nice looking! Great job! The minimalist design is the best part. I could see someone wearing this to a Stones concert...

you're infatuated
I have the sudden urge to go break brick walls with my fist, and I don't know why...
Re: Jumpman in the style of 1920's Animation
Thanks so much all of you for the positive feedback. I was a bit worried with the animation not being ART history controversy that this might not have been well received. There was more I wanted to add to this (like a BG and some dust/film scratches to each frame) but my cold got the better of me. I'm feeling better thanks for asking.
stempelj wrote:Jesus actually didn't have a brother. James was the brother of John.
Actually, if you read closely Jesus had four brothers, and it is believed he had several sisters as well.
Yeah I was a little worried about not being able to submit till 2AM Monday, but if it can keep up at this pace I may have a chance!

Well, there's a very obvious commentary with this image not present in the Mario/Simpsons version. That's an important distinction.

What game is this?
overcyn wrote:youve got me so wrong. i absolutely love this one. i was just agreeing with someone that yours should be up in first or seconrd
Ohhhh. I'm so sorry. I messed up because you replied to someone who said they really liked it. I see where I went wrong. My bad. Thank you so much, Overcyn. I apologize profusely!
DavidShenoda wrote:Well, my soapbox is still broken from the costume derby, so all I'm saying is that if you're going to have a derby with so many opportunities for copyright issues then you need to be EXTREMELY SPECIFIC in what your considerations for copyright/parody are. Geez. Come on, Joel. You're killing me.
David...you know it's nothing personal. We warned that this derby would flirt with the edges of copyright issues. You bet big you win big...or lose 8 hours of your time. As I said, there's some subjective issues here around whether or not this is an historically recognized period in art (I'll agree cartoons fit), but this comes down to a copyright issue more than the other issues.
yankeebird wrote:No, this is way more than six colors. Not all the cubes are the same orange, the blue is textured, the grey background...
I agree that this is way more than 6 colors. Each shade of a color counts as a color. I don't think this designer understood that.
I didn't mean to get across that I didn't think it was not art, that just it seems that it is a relatively new style, as ASCII art is, so those 2, IMO, would be in the same category for "allowable" cause I certainly like both

:/ yeah like you're working on it for a long time, and then after you submit it you see another one kinda similar there already. :/ it happens
Re: Mushroom Kingdom Chronicles in Baroque
I like it but Bowser is pooping an egg. :\
Re: Chocobos in the style of Salvador Dali
I love the artwork, very well done. I just wish it was all ff related, perhaps one of them carrying the ragnarok or other of their large airships. But nonetheless, it gets my vote.

Re: Flawless Victory In Stencil Art
yeah...the halftones are pretty small. I'd have to look over the final art to tell for sure.

Yes, I think he does Els....just this week he has done Pacman, Simpsons and now Portal.........he hit the trifecta!
Re: Gamer Mother in the style of Whistler
I've held off on commenting on this one simply because I didn't think my words would do this justice. And now I see it's dropped out of the fog. ACK! I'm starting to see a trend here that my favourites aren't going to continually get the love they deserve. Anyway, this is really wonderful and I don't know how to describe it other than it really makes me smile. Nice work, loop.
Your detail is always insane, Drakxxx. Kudos.

Ooh, beautiful piece of work, Boots! First you do Dig Dug, then you do a take on one of my favourites from Dali?! And your use of chocobos! Ooh. What can I say other than I really wish both of these were doing much better. And that I have high hopes if my dreams are crushed (again) this derby, that you will offer these up in your store eventually. They're both truly groovy. Truly.

Joust, I believe.
If only you'd posted this at the start of the derby!

Dopefish first appeared in the Commander Keen game. He was then seen in a whole lot of other games and TV shows, and a variety of places in cameos. He is still appearing today.
