This one goes out to BOOTS and how much carp I gave him for his pirate shirt last week. I couldn't help but do pirates and ninjas for this style of book. I've always loved "Choose your own Adventure" Books and if you haven't ever read one... try it out. It takes no more than an hour I'd guess.

There is no text in the book... just blobs. 2 colors (white and black) on asphalt.

Re: inspired by a farewell to arms

Just a friendly tip: You are limited to choosing one woot shirt color for the background/shirt color. But the six other colors can be any of the Solid Coated Pantone colors. Something like 1300 of them can be selected from color set menus in Corel Painter. Probably in photoshop too. Not sure where else you might find them. If the colors you use are not the solid coated pantones, there may be a slight color shift when Woot uses the closest match to print with.

Hmm. Its a good idea, but it could do with some more colour and maybe not using stick drawings. But its still a nice attempt.

exactly. a quick read because of the language but analysis and discussion of ideas could be well suited for an older audience. also, good for comparison with similar genre, imo. think about the levels of Animal Farm, for example.

Re: Inspired by How to Draw 101 Animals

In my opinion, this is one of the best designs in the derby and definitely the best in the fog. I'm really disappointed that the trolls have decided to go after tgentry since I think he's one of the most talented designers currently participating (and he made my favorite shirt of all time, Suburban Blitzkrieg). I've been really disappointed in the quality of a lot of derby entries lately, but tgentry consistently has intelligent, well-drawn designs. So please keep up the good work and give me something to vote for.

I think it's pretty clear that wils9745 is a troll, and interacting with him/her is only going to cause aggravation for the other person and amusement for wils9745.

poinpyu wrote:I really like this shirt but I'm really picky when it comes to a shirt and the drawing style if it relates to anime style because I'm really big fan of anime things. however, the thing that bugs me about this is the face and the dogs and the snake makes it kind of look amateurish.
The thing about anime, it's a spicy topic when it comes down to style/detail and etc. And I think you need to learn the style and concept more before you actually try going for a shirt.
But then again, this is woot, they don't have a lot of stylistic/complicated/detailed shirts.
This is still good though,so you got my vote! llo.

Wowza!!! Did you think you were on a Van Gogh site? The artwork is awesome. Flowing and very eye catching. Complain about the countless ninjas, trees with moon, skyline and koi fish if you need something to critique.
Trust me, many people who do have taste will buy this shirt and make it a success. I for one!!!! She is extremely talented. Perhaps you have some jealousy going on here. Food for thought ;)

magick70 wrote:I have a question.. How do I go about turning in a shirt? I turned this one (Ahabs capture- inspired by Moby beautiful tulip) in without a shirt template straight to woots E-mail addy because for some reason I can't seem to put my design on the "shirt template." My question is how do I go about downloading my picture to the template? Thay give 3 different avenues to which I can but when I submit it, it tells me that it needs to be in a gif , jpes or png format. I converted it to a jpeg format but now the error mesg reads that I need to do it in a pdf style. Again, I tried to do that but no go! What steps or applications do I need to do to submit my work the proper way? I use Macromedia Fireworks to draw but I'm not sure if that works. I'm not even sure if the way I did it works. I see it's on the page but I'm not sure if that's the "second" best way to go. A little advise and help from anyone please!!
With respect,
Michael

Ok.
1.You can find and download a shirt template from this place :http://www.mediafire.com/?3yd332u29xi

2. Im not sure about macromedia Fireworks either, but i know that you can either use Vector or Raster Programs to create drawings.
I recommend using GIMP (Raster Program )is a free downloadable software which allows image retouching and creation among other things. I use it all the time and it can be found here:
http://www. gimp.org/
or if you prefer Vector than you can use Inkscape, another free software program which is much like Adobe Illustrator and can be downloaded from here: www.inkscape.org/
I recommend trying both out to see which one is best.

3. I take it when you say 3 avenues to submit you mean the three fields that say 'Design Detail', Shirt comp and print ready file?? Well i've done a big guide to gimp for those who want to use it so head on over to there.

Hopefully that should sort out the problems.

I do apologize to you.But to the person with the critique well there is one thing to offer advise yet another to be down right insulting. I would be willing and wanting to finance artists like yourself for a project I am about to embark on. The amateurish comment
showed their lack of expertise as to what is art. People like myself, take notice to sites like these to find and finance people like yourself...and of course others with talents be them God given or through education. It was more than a compliment. I have been watching a few artists ,yes artists ..very closely. I see quite a but to invest in. Do keep up the fine work.

Thanks jadziadax. I completely agree. Thanks to everyone who is supporting this design against this troll, but arguing with it, trying to get it to actually explain itself, and laughing at it as it ducks and dodges actual logic doesn't do anything but make it feel better about itself. It obviously has nothing to say, but will keep saying it because it makes it feel important to suck the time away from people who have more going on in their lives. The best thing to do is not to respond at all. Most likely it will try to get the last word, probably say something about being insulted and so on. If that doesn't work a straight up insult like "You are such a loser". If no one responds to that, other handles will pop up and complain about how the troll has been treated to try to continue the "debate". Please just let it get the last word and we can be done with it.

Your point stands? Your point doesn't even reach paraplegic status. And for God's sakes, man, using mandatory quotation marks in every post you write doesn't make you funny. You use air quotes in real life, don't you?

So, to sum up: this design is lazy, the designer isn't lazy, in this design the designer is being lazy. You're all over the place. Your words are up here for everyone to read, so I'll let them make up their own minds, buddy (I can rip off Dane Cook, too).

Re: Inspired by How to Draw 101 Animals

All this fun has reminded me why it's good to stay away from the forums for a while. Getting caught up in a situation where people are anonymous and money is involved makes otherwise decent people do things they wouldn't normally do, and it's far too easy to get caught up in it. I think I'll take a break. Thanks again for all the positive comments.
