The funniest thing would be seeing someone wearing this shirt who actually looks like the guy on this shirt, doing 'his' pose.

Thanks, I actually did this in pencil, and then one of my buddies said do it on black, and make the lines white. I liked the way it came out, I loved yours too, very nice.

Thank you all for the kind words about this shirt. I am very happy that there are people out there who love my design as much as myself.

Conrads, please keep the pessimism out of this shirt; I will not allow that here. Save that kind of talk for a picture shirt. We are above that and so is this shirt.

This shirt is a bold beautiful blank shirt!

For the sake of simplicity, and beauty in the humble, lets bring this blank bombshell to the top 4!

Thank you all (exempt conrads) for your support. Good luck to all.

Very cool! I love this shirt! I buy very, very few Woot shirts, but this one would be a definite must have!

Every workday can be the start of something exciting! Wear this shirt to remind yourself that bringing a golf club to work to “meet” your copy machine does not count as social interaction or a sporting activity. Wear this shirt when you need to remember that the client who has altered almost every part of your original design may just enjoy debating art with you and consider you a well educated, intriguing person! Wear this shirt to meet with your boss at your yearly review and keep in mind that getting extra “goals” and “challenges” assigned to you just means that you are a very dedicated and integral part of the company! Wear this on a Sunday in hopes that Monday will bring new people, new puzzles, and new perspective at your workplace! Optimism could be the new caffeine for employees everywhere!

Wow, thanks Orion. I rarely buy any shirts here either. I try to create designs I would wear.

I think it embodies this statement from the main page...

"We want to see t-shirts that will make us feel like everything's gonna be swell, just swell."

It's subjective, but I find it a very optimistic image.

On a pessimistic note... I hate JPEGs, so here's a GIF...

Re: Cheer Up! She Found You.

Kudos, BootsBoots! You bucked the expected conventions of this derby and obviously the voting public appreciates it.
I first noticed this shirt yesterday morning and since then it seems to have climbed inexorably up the charts. I'd say it has a good chance of printing, and I hope that it does. I voted for this shirt even though I may not end up buying it myself (it's just not my personal style), but because it is a unique and talent-laden shirt design and the people who do plan and are looking forward to purchasing it should have the chance to do so. I would vote a second time if I could.
Also, I like it because it reminds me of something from the world of Pan's Labyrinth, which I thought was a somewhat disturbing but fantastic movie. Conveniently enough, I think much the same thing of this shirt design.
Good luck, BootsBoots!

Ahh the good old stick drawing.

Nice idea, but im afraid it hasn't come out well.
Maybe you could flesh out the lines a bit?
Or make the dog look more vicious? I dunno but it needs something.

Does anyone have advice on producing smoother lines? I sketch, scan, and then trace over my sketch in photoshop w/the pencil tool (I started using the pencil tool because I was worried about the pen tool producing extra shades of my color) - I get the distinct impression there is a much better way.

There is . What i find ( and i use the gimp raster program by the way) is that by using larger and thicker lines around the edge it helps to cover up any weird bumps e.t.c.
Also, do you use a graphics tablet? That would help significantly.

Re: One Smiley

Nice idea, but maybe you could have used more colour?
Maybe put the happy smiley in the centre coloured in yellow, surrounded by all those grumpy smilies coloured in red arranged in a circle.
That might make it a bit better.

Jestik wrote:I don't like this shirt, and would never wear it, but that doesn't mean someone else's viewpoints are not valid.

To me, the artist has demonstrated their talent with previous entries, so to say they "suck" is a little harsh. Maybe this design is below their potential, but a lot of people still like it. It doesn't mean those people are right or wrong, it just means those people like it.

Adder, you will never argue people out of how they feel. You'll only frustrate yourself in the process.

However, I will add, I am completely saddened the way fantastic, original, artistic work like BootsBoots sits far outside the fog, when simplistic stuff like this shirt will print and make $. Boots (and others) deserve better for their efforts. But that's what you get when you let people vote for what they like. Sometimes you like the results, and sometimes you don't. It's just the way it is
