ablatman wrote:The Birth-Certificate issue is 100% legitimate until the second he produces a valid birth certificate that proves his "natural born" status. The fact that this document (should it exist) would cost only 10 USD to produce (coincidentally the same amount a shirt costs as the daily woot) if he were to request it from the state of Hawaii, and he/his campaign/the Democrat party have spent around a million dollars *suppressing* the disclosure of really casts shadows of doubt on his eligibility -- the constitution is very clear on the eligibility of presidential candidates; There are three, and the Natural Born one is the *only* one that I have seen any thing against.

http://fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate

Here you are bud. Do something better with your time.

It's an issue because if he gets in, and it later becomes known that he *doesn't* meet the requirements for eligibility, then we have a constitutional crisis on our hands -- if one part of our Constitution doesn't mean anything, then whats to say that the rest doesn't? That would put all our rights guaranteed by that document at risk, and potentially lead losses of Life, Liberty and/or Property. I find this unacceptable.

As to the man's political agenda, that is irrelevant to the above issue, unless his entire candidacy was put forth with the *intention* of causing a constitutional crisis......

Also, as for the shirt, I'm not sure the soviet flag works as well as the American/British flags work -- they look better because you can simulate a wave; It's hard to do that with a solid color.

"See the turtle of enormous girth, on his shell he holds the earth" did this have anything to do with it? the dark tower series by Stephen king? i like the idea, not wild about the blue though. maybe a gray shirt and you can ad some mist or fog to soften it?

well, King certainly wasn't the first to say that the Earth rides on the back of a giant turtle, but yeah, that was the idea.

I think you're right about the rest, though if I lose the blue shirt then I'm short of colors.

Wow well this settles where the Woot! people stand politically. They reject this because of the 'tone' (snicker) but allow Mary with the pill. Clearly they should both be allowed but that's how liberals roll: Censorship is ok if it fits their agenda. Penn and Teller's show

Read the part about the birth announcement in 1961. This "conspiracy" would have been started 47 years ago. Are some of you people so subconsciously-racist that you're willing to believe that?

And personally, I really don't care where someone is born, and I think that clause for Presidential eligibility should be removed. I mean, I'd rather have an intelligent leader who was born in another country, than to have a complete moron raised in Texas...

These sheep are super cute. I'm only concerned because of the placement - as a female, they'd be placed a bit...curiously upon my chest.

But that three-headed sheep is 3x adorable.

As for the questions of McCain's eligibility under the same clause:

McCain was born to two U.S. citizens who, at the time of his birth, both met the requirements for John McCain to gain citizenship by default. Furthermore, his father was an *active duty* U.S. Armed Forces member, serving in Panama. John McCain was born in a *military hospital* on a *United States military base* in Panama. All U.S. military bases are on U.S. soil.

John McCain was not born in a military hospital on a military base. He was born in a civilian hospital in another country because the base didn't HAVE a hospital.

This shouldn't have disqualified him from becoming president either.

Obama is also a Natural Born citizen and more than constitutionally qualified to be your next president.

Joel has said before that if anyone is considering rejecting an entry that is in the fog, they hold a meeting first to talk about it. So, it takes longer for a fogged entry to get rejected.

I could go on and on until nearly every submission into this derby was listed. I usually agree with what gets rejected, but rejecting this is a horribly poor decision.

It's probably because certain people have estates that lord over things like merchandising and who gets sued and doesn't. Since this shirt would be competing with the Cobain estate and their T-Shirt sales, woot would put themselves at risk printing this. The Einstein, Ghandi, and Freud estates (if there even are any) don't have that same kind of control over their images because they are now widely regarded as part of history, not current or recently current pop culture. You can debate the differences, but I doubt woot is willing to take the chances on someone that obviously still has a monopolized merchandising machine behind them. This is a great design though, maybe someone else will take a chance on it.
