Re: Snowflake

Definitely my favourite. It is similar to the leaf, but given that it's a completely different season and object, I don't see why there would be a real qualm.

It's a really attractive design and nicely laid out on the shirt. I hate bulkiness on the top or in the center, which happens all too often.

Toe, I must say, your attention to detail on this is wonderful. Your detail around the border and the overall look of the maiden is very well done. Great job.

Re: Winter Equinox

Future reference: It's a Winter Solstice. An Equinox is when the earth is halfway between solstices, and the solstices are the longest day (Summer solstice) and longest night (Winter solstice).

You got the spring equinox, also called the Vernal equinox, and the Fall equinox, also called the autumnal equinox, I think.

You meant to call this "Winter Solstice" certainly, because there's no such thing as the Winter Equinox.

Still, got my vote, dude!

This looks exactly like Alphonse Mucha 'Moet and Chandon' Great job on the winter flourish though. Heh.

Re: Snow Angel

Well, at least its in the top 20 now. It should be in the top 4, but I guess if Ramyb or Seki doesn't draw it, it doesn't count.

You can ride with me, or you can find your own path. Don't stab me in the back after I've cleared the way.

::sighs:: no wonder I liked it. It looks like the Dry Imperial version of the Moet And Chandon posters. I can see the face, the band line of the hair and the curve of the dress and hips. I feel duped.

Sorry man, but I feel that this sort of has to be rejected. There's been alot that's been rejected for less.

Stinks too, because I really like the design ...

I'm new here and haven't been participating in the forums much, but I think it's insane that a design like this would get rejected just because the concept is similar to some cartoon or other work of art. In fact this design bears more in common with an old threadless design by the legendary Glennz than anything Turbo listed:

http://www.threadless.com/submission/36861/Carrot_Rustlers_Strike_Again

Still, (as far as I understand it) you can't copyright a concept or an idea, you can only copyright an actual piece. tho there are similarities and the idea isn't mind-blowingly original, what is original is lokklyn's illustration style and layout...things which can be protected.

I showed this thread to a friend who's a copyright lawyer and his comment was woot probably cuts these things off like that
because they can...they have plenty of original, unique work to choose from, why bother with anything that has even a sniff of lawsuit attached to it. He also didn't think that anyone of Turbo's or my list brought a suit against woot for printing lokklyn's design would have much of a leg to stand on.

It is their stated policy that they only want original work. what this has meant is that anything at all similar to a shirt design that has previously been printed anywhere else gets rejected, unless it fits into one of the categories that they won't reject, which I clearly don't belong to. ;^)

This doesn't particularly have to do with lawsuits or copyright, although they will reject anything that they think will be a copyright issue, like "I {heart} anything".

Re: Skiing Freely

Really, really wonderful. As a snowboarder who is constantly on the lookout for an abominable snowman to toss me into the pine trees, I feel I must have this shirt. It's a shame it wasn't entered sooner. Let me know if you post it up somewhere else, as I am totally in for one or even several.

I have to say it's ridiculous this fell from the fog so hard and so soon. I really hope you're invited back to HM and I'll have my vote all over again. I'm really sorry, I kept holding out hope that it would sky rocket back up to the top. My boyfriend and I are both pretty saddened about its "10 minutes of fame".
