ramyb wrote:I didn't want it to scream winter, I wanted it to be subtle. I didn't think it needed to be snowmen or snowflakes to convey winter, because ice and frost are generally associated with winter as well. Plus, here where I live, all we get in winter is rain and cold, but very rarely snow.

I would agree that it doesn't have to be over the top to say ...WINTER..many of the designs are a bit over worked, I do like yours, it just there are one I like better! and it just feels un winter, it says I must thaw this frigid heart and have drops of sorrow drip down on me..

lokklyn wrote:Thanks for the advice, but wouldn't Woot just change it if it's an issue? I don't know if resubmitting for placement is a common practice; I'd rather just leave it up to Woot to decide where to put the design. Even if people disagree with the placement, I hope they vote anyways — I can specifically request that they alter the placement, right? I don't have any experience with this, so anyone else's input is very much appreciated.

I'll try to make my placements less awkward in the future, I promise! I'm still new here, so I'm sorry if I make awkward placement mistakes.

I'm not 100% sure of the rules, but I think what you initially submit and allow people to vote on is what Woot will print.

Placement is part of the design element, and is a major reason people vote and/or don't vote for a shirt; that's not something that should be left to Woot to decide. Doing so would be unfair to people who voted for this because they like the placement, because it wouldn't be the shirt they voted for.

Like I said earlier, and it's just my opinion, but I love the design but can't bring myself to vote for it because the placement is too low for my taste. If that were changed I'd vote for it, and most likely buy it.

Hm, good to know. I wasn't really going too much for anime, but I didn't have any other ideas for how to do the eyes. I'm glad you like the idea! Thanks for the feedback!

I like this design very much. The elements go well with one another (ie the blue color, the artsy drawing style, the sadness of the little girl, the color of the shirt). gmv!

Yes. This should be higher. In my opinion it's the best in this derby. The colours are great and it's a simple but effective design. The only one I'd wear in this round.

Re: Stacking Bunnies~

The theme of this derby is winter, since it's so epic I don't know what I wanted to do. After looking at some of the submissions I decided on a kid-spirited theme; and I further narrowed it down to something with animals. I like cats and rabbits (hence my name), so what's more cuddly than fat, round rabbits? After some thinking this became my realization of a kids+rabbit+winter theme I had in mind.

Can I have some feedbacks? Such as color choice, the drawing itself, the execution of the idea, anything! I know it can be better but I can't tell what's wrong.

Thank you for coming in~

turbo, if you can suddenly be the one to make woot care a whit about fairness and originality, I will praise you to the heavens. But this week seems to be all about people cashing in on the sad reality, not having legitimate original ideas. Woot hasn't done jack about this in the last year when it began running rampant, and they have neglected to respond to emails about it. It is my belief that the only thing they really care about is potential lawsuits against Iron Maiden.

When I found out the theme is winter, I had almost immediately thought of a snowman with a hair dryer, and the exact picture of the snowman holdup popped up in my mind. I thought it would be too cliche, seeing so many pictures online playing this theme. But I don't know about rejecting it though, I thought the rule is there shouldn't be another shirt with the same concept? But I'm not too sure since I'm new here.

There have been rejections in the past in which a topic was tired and done before.

It all comes down to Woot's opinion, as it's their final call as to whether this makes the cut or gets rejected. All any of us can do is present the evidence and wait for the gavel to drop.

ramyb wrote:At a certain point, you should consider doing some basic math before you blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. In order to move into the top 3, this entry would have to average 10 votes higher per three hours than the third place entry for the entire rest of the contest, and it's already well below that in it's second 3 hours. Obviously this entry is doing worse than either my or tgentry's entries have done/are doing separately, so your claim that a collab is a way to ensure a print is completely illogical and is just one more thing that you've found to complain about without stopping to think about it for a second to realize that you are wrong. Believe it or not, sometimes artists like to do things for fun.

Well....... I mean, I'm not angry at anyone for working together. Just....... *sigh* You're already intimidatingly good, and so is Tgentry. And so is sekiyoku (is that how it's spelled?) and etc. etc. You guys know you are, and you should expect people to react the way they are. I, for one, have pretty much given up on ever EVER maybe getting printed on this site. I'm not saying you guys don't earn your monies from the woot, because you do (you're good), I'm just saying that you're gaining some serious, dangerous sort of momentum. Like, too much momentum. I'm waiting for some hideous backfire. I feel it in my bones.

Good luck anyways! :D

......and I feel really bad for people like Draxxx and BootsBoots who turn out work that's basically as good as yours, and don't get any monies. Just a thought. Hm.

Haha, I didn't expect this to be the subject of much controversy.
You should probably just upload one of those images to cafepress right now and sell it as a shirt. No idea is going to be 100% original, and it's a struggle to create something that's never been thought of. HOWEVER, I do feel like my design retains enough individuality to stand apart from the others, which aren't even reflecting the same scene. Woot has the ultimate say and I'm interested in what it is. :O I don't think I need to defend the design though! And, regardless of what happens, I'm really happy that so many of you liked it! I never expected to be near the top so early on, and it's refreshing to see that a newbie like myself still has a shot against the Titans of the derby.

Anyone is welcome to disagree (or, uh, agree, that'd be nice too) with me on this. I'd like to hear your opinion.
