You have violated woot's shirt template rule as well as their color limit.

To top it off, this has been done before in a previous derby, and frankly, done better.

I don't remember the last time, but it has happened more than once. I remember one of the early derbies, where everyone showed up Friday night to buy the shirt that was the clear favorite, and woot admitted that they couldn't print it due to legal issues. They printed #2 that night instead.

Here, the thumbnail is very unique and representative of the picture, but definitely different from the original 'A'. Also keep in mind that this picture was doing very well in its previous incarnation, and so a lot of the votes are probably new voters who are clicking on the picture due to it being at the top of new hotness since people are revoting it.

People don't realize it is a resub? Ummmm....it says it is a resub in the title! Duhhhhhhhhh

I normally don't like red shirts but the colors of the design itself make the red shirt tolerable for me.

In other words, I'd wear it. =)

SydneyB wrote:The sheep are very funny, but what Myth is this? Why does the Cyclops have a spear in his eye? (*I'm so confused!!*)

From the Odyssey, I believe. Odysseus and crew got stranded on the island of the Cyclops. They ended up trapped in the cave of one of the Cyclops (Polythemus, I think?). I forget how they got in there, but to get out, they sharpened a stick and jabbed it in the cyclops' eye to blind him. Then they strapped themselves to the underside of the sheep (Polythemus was a shepherd or some such) so that they could escape. This was necessary because there was a giant boulder blocking the doorway that only the cyclops could move, and he would feel to make sure only the sheep were getting out.

There was also this whole thing where Odysseus told the cyclops his name was "no one". Later, the cyclops called his brothers for help, shouting "no one blinded me, no one is escaping!" and they all thought he was just being weird.

Ya, that was in the third derby ever. The "winner" had the power logo on it. Woot realized it was copyrighted and couldn't print it. They still payed the designer the money though. This was the canceled winner. http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=607

Nothing like a good shirt.woot argument. Gets me through a whole class.

thanks! glad you like it!
and in response, this shirt is actually based on the tychonic model, which only included the above planets. took a bit of digging to find, but along the way, found quite a few sites for people that still believe that the earth stands still...

I haven't been impressed with very many designs in this derby, which was disappointing because I LOVE myth and legends and fairy tales and the like, so I was excited. I love this shirt, I think it's a GREAT shirt for kids, but I will also love to wear it if it prints. Can't say that for many others. Just my two cents. Good job!

Oh wow, can't begin to describe how disappointed I am for you. I was so sure this would be your derby.

I know my own designs haven't gathered strong votes, but all the nonsense lately has really put me off. Although your words of encouragement are commendable, Woot's lack of response on the matter kills off most of my motivation. I've certainly been uninterested in even looking at the other shirt sites as now I'm beginning to think that every site could potentially be rigged.

I know this isn't the right place for this, but I would love for the anime twins to graciously bow out and take their "popular" designs and scandals elsewhere. I can imagine that if their is any weight to popularity, they will continue to sell their own shirts at their own sites with just as much profit.

I salute you Draxx and so long as you keep this high standard of design, I will continue to vote for you. As for me, I probably won't bother again until I know this site is more cheatproof.

I won't attempt to start any drama in Drakxxx's thread, because I respect him far too much (to the point where I'm wearing Clockwork Orange right now ) so if this goes too long, I apologize outright.

So long as woot runs purely on votes, people like Drakxxx are always going to be JUST that short of being printed. I die a little inside any time one of those two gets an HM because all these people will once again have to fight against things like kawaii faces, chibi body-types and snot bubbles.

That being said, Keemly, if you feel you really have a good chance, go to Threadless. I think you have enough talent you could end up with some great scores... and that goes for Drakxxx as well. You've proved time and time again that you are a consistent designer and you are DEFINITELY getting the short end of the stick. Sure there's voting at Threadless, DBH, Uneetee, and a host of others, but what they do that woot doesn't do is get those designs that seem to do well, and they choose what prints... despite the score... despite the raves or discouraging remarks. And, for the most part, I don't believe any of those places would be suckered by anime, no matter how good a score it received or how many votes were recorded.

Rollerball (2002). Out of the fog again. I just remain in disbelief that your designs consistently lose out to the other stuff that gets printed here.

I'm sure it's no consolation, but we love your stuff, Drakxxx. I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but I know talent when I see it.

You deserve better.
