HeartlineTwist wrote:What larger design were they intending? It looked like a skeleton when I looked earlier today, but now it's different.

And what was your teacher's reaction to a ceramic scuba diver?

The larger design is an abstract flourish/filigree design I made. There is actually meaning behind that too, because I've been accused of using clipart when I make abstract designs, so now I'm limited to painting them in acrylic on canvas.

My teacher's reaction was an expression of total disbelief. It was a simple assignment and I made this 12" sculpture instead. I did the same thing for most assignments and eventually he just started grading me on what I did instead of what I was supposed to do.

I have a 15 year old daughter who is a huge Sonic fan, she LOVES this shirt. If it prints, she will be getting one. (she's checking all the time to see if it's still "in the fog")

Re: The Original Blue Hedgehog

Ramyb,

I agree with most of the other submitters. This is an AMAZING concept (and you KNOW it would sellout, just like the TNMT beginning and drakxxx's recent Mario offering), but the thing that gets me is that Sonic needs to have a defiant look on his face, and the paint is dripping like it's hanging off a ledge. The latter doesn't bother me nearly as much as the former.

You should seriously consider doing a resub by tomorrow or Monday of Sonic being defiant (and, thus, more of an 'individual'), and if you did that I would snap a couple or three of them up in a heartbeat once this places. As it stands now, I'm on the fence.

Even if you resub on Monday, you'll still get enough votes to make it back to the fog, just as A for Atlas did. Just an honest thought. Hope you'll consider it!

Juicy Fruit? Flavor-ending gum that lasts 4 seconds!

Great design, I was glad to see some one do the opposite, and go with some one (zebra) not conforming to the rest of the world.

If this prints I buy.

Actually, I don't think people are being overly harsh at all (and I honestly don't think ramyb would think so either, especially with the venom that's normally thrown his way ahuhu). This is actually the most constructive criticism that he's had on any of his designs IMO.

And, yes, every artist has a style. I was actually sitting her with my son last night, looking at the comps, trying to guess whose design was whose without seeing the name. I got tgentry, lokklyn, radiomode, deadfrog, ramyb and sundbe10 right. My son was rather impressed, haha...

Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoy this. I originally wasn't going to do anything for this derby because I couldn't think of anything. But then yesterday I was browsing another tee shirt site and saw a shirt with angel wings on the back. That's when it occurred to me that it would be cool to do a design on the back of a tee for this.

thats stupid then. they should have the numbers posted. i don't do this stuff on a regular basis. they aren't gradients, it's a halftone screen, its just at 300, i guess thats too high. it's not like i naturally know all this bs.

I totally get where you're coming from and I looked at a TON of power lines pics to get the best "look". Most of the power lines had 5 to 6 lines (or hundreds!). I thought about going with less, but it just didn't "fill" the shirt if you know what I mean. I kind of like that it has the "music staff" feel though, now that you mention it, kind of beckons you to take a second look at the shirt. But maybe that's just me! :p

Actually, I like the number of lines and the fact that it looks like a musical staff. I feel there should be a soundtrack for this shirt and the five power lines make it seem as though there is one.

Re: Identical Individuality

I wondered what you were all going on about gum for - checked it out. Do they still make that stuff? I remember seeing it once when I was like 5 years old, not a huge gum fan. What's that thing they always put at the end of movies? Any similarities to any person living or dead are purely coincidental... haha. Plus that zebra had green stripes too, so these guys aren't quite as tasty yet.

Mattman243 wrote:This design seems so simple, but I love it! Like you said, it works for some reason! I hope this gets into the fog soon.

Did you have any inspiration for the symbol/repeating design?

The pattern is houndstooth, a common pattern in knitwear and suits. Houndstooth had a big surge in popularity a few years ago, largely among women, so I assumed it to be an easily recognizable pattern. The black and white repetition made it a great choice for adding color and the soft shapes of paisley for a stark contrast.
