Re: SeaLion

The lion part is awesome. The tail does need a bit of work. I would make the glowy halftone a little thinner. Fix those things and you have yourself a great design!

Re: The Mythical Tree Jellyfish

Maybe if you centered the tree on some kind of psychedelic spiral with the same fill pattern as the background you have now. The top of the tree needs a little work, but otherwise neat idea. I like absurd things like this.

I agree. Of course that is the case with a lot of these designs. No doubt they are great designs...but wearable...? Good job on this though!

BootsBoots wrote:Aww, man... I wanted controversy! Maybe we could start arguing about David Lynch? Here is my stance: His films are for the most part not good because the plot (if there is one) is so buried under weird symbolism (if you can call it that because most of the time it seems like it's not really that symbolic of anything at all). Mulholland Drive was an exception, though. I really liked that one. Wait. Dammit. I'm no good at starting controversy. I need to pick a side and not budge.

A group of friends and I started watching Lost Highway. I went upstairs for a few minutes, and didn't even realize they'd switched the movie to Plan 9 from Outer Space until it got real campy.

Re: Message in a Bottle

yeah, the composition needs a little adjusting I think. Nice job with the face. Something feels a little off with me about her arm like it needs to be a tad bit longer. The elbow I believe needs to go all the way to the belly button which is closer to where the fishy part starts. Keep up the good work!

Wow, that's kind of a stretch don't you think.

If by "kind of a stretch" you mean "the exact same concept," then yes

I love this!!! I'd love it even more if the reef was not a part of it, but you got my vote even with it. If you resubmit it without the reef part, I'll vote for it too!

kawaiikes wrote:I guess their shirts are so terrible, they sell out every time.

And that isn't the reason it's similar--it uses a similar colour scheme, which would make a lot of sense.

There are some other vague similarities between the two designs, but colour scheme is really the most prominent.

They sell out because all you kawaii chibi lovers invaded the site when they showed up. Believe me, a lot of us wish they would go away.

Well vote for it and get everyone else to, and I WILL buy 3, and I'd be happy to show you a receipt for them. Hell, I'd rob a bank to get the money if I didn't have the money. And then I will come to your job everyday with that shirt on, to show you how Kool, it really looks.

I haven't yet seen anything I want to buy from this derby (which is disappointing, because I really like the theme) but I think this design is my favourite so far.

Weird; I feel exactly the same way.

VM, if you put this up at Cameesa, count me in as a supporter (should it not magically rally of course!). I'm not even that attached to robots (though I love rglee's shirts), but, something about this guy and the feel of the design speaks to me. The concept of his awakening from the depths of the ocean (interpret as one will) and the rich, gorgeous illustration... yes, I will support this and really hope it will print somewhere!

kawaiikes wrote:Haha, the harassing behaviour of sea lions can also be construed as playfulness, though---at least in my experience with sea lions in the Galapagos, they never did anything particularly nasty; however, they would swim swiftly toward you, until their face was only inches away from yours, and then dive away backwards. Maybe they are a bit mischievous.

And I very much appreciate the accurate information on SCUBA gear, as I've never been diving.

My dad in particular hated diving if there were sea lions in the water. They would try to play with the exhaust bubbles and grab the top of the diving hood and pull. this knocks the regulator out of the mouth and the mask off the face. Not being able to see or breathe isn't a great feeling.

Glad to provide clarity, even if it's only for one person ^.^

Please make a seal shirt. I will love you forever!

Conversational people wondering what's on the front. Or even people seeing a blank front then I walk away with this really cool design on the back.

The deep sea has some fascinating animals... the idea was to have a t-shirt where you just really see the eyes at first and then later see the creatures.

Re: He Wanted to Fly So Badly

I while I've been laid up on the couch from being sick, I watched this show about parasailing (god I was desperate to find something interesting). Anyhow, I wanted to do something with a jellyfish in a new way. Now the starfish seems to be the star of the piece, but the jellyfish and the devil ray both complete the scene.

Enjoy!
