A period piece. How original a concept. This might be a little more harbor than sea, but since they share the same water we won't get picky.

I remember the three seekers of enlightenment on high. Now we have three sinkers of en-heavyment getting low.

snarkygal wrote:They sell out because all you kawaii chibi lovers invaded the site when they showed up. Believe me, a lot of us wish they would go away.

It is just too bad that Woot! won't do anything about those "kawaii chibi lovers" just because people like you whine and complain.

After all, Woot!'s point of existence is to get the money, and they get the money by selling the shirts, and they sell the shirts by letting the people buying the shirts vote for them so that they can sell as many as they can.

Which means if more people share your taste, the shirts you like will start to win.

And also, it is not like people who wish to have fewer bitchy comments in the derby complain about people bitching and complaining. Everyone likes to hear someone complain about their "oh so miserable" life because of an influx of voters look for "kawaii chibi" materials.

Oh, I understand that my reply doesn't make me look all too much better, but I read enough comments involving "(Insert exclamation here)! THE VOTE BASE IS (Insert derogatory swear word here) AHSDSNDAS", "(Insert exclamation here)! (Insert artist here) AND (Insert artist here) ARE LIKE COMPLETELY CHEATING, and "(Insert exclamation here)! YOU SUCK CAUSE YOU VOTED FOR (Insert artist here)."

Please just say something like, "I do not like this design because:" or "I like this art because:" or "I disagree with (Insert person's username here) because:" (not necessarily in that form).

Oh, sorry about singling you out, but your comment made all the other comments reach critical mass.

Damn it took a long time to type that.

I'm torn.
I want to like your linework. As much as I hate rikkiB's work (if you are aware of who she is), I like the way this came out on top.

You killed it for me on the bottom though. You could have easily taken the concept down to the whale and added swirls and such within, to make it flow. As it is now, he looks too cartoony compared to the intricate work on top.

NORAD is gonna have a heck of a time if this trend really takes off.

As fish-kind strikes back at human-kind we are going to get hang gliders crashing into skyscrapers and windshields all along our coastlines. Thankfully we'll just need to hire window washers to clean up afterwards. This could actually be good for the economy.

And for that reason...GMV

Wear this shirt: if you want to advertise you have crabs.

OK, that was kinda crude but I think the shirt is cute enough that you turn this into a conversation starter. Everybody laughs and then you point out the pocket protector and laugh again. Then the hook is set.

You get lucky tonight nerd!

Or at least that's this nerd's hope.

No, it's just so bad that it's incredibly obvious. Their work regularly lacks creativity and adequate theme usage. How a crapton of rabbits in an elevator equates to Cabin Fever, I still can't fathom. A Hedgehog trying to be an individual would have been nice had it shown belief or pride in itself, not fear of punishment for wearing a can of poorly dripping paint. I still cannot see how the theme of optimism was adequately shown through a grim reaper hovering over a dimwitted forest creature.
Some people work on concepts and create truly unique entries (much more deserving of a fog spot than fingerless chibis)... others just slap an almond headed something onto an entry and go for the sickeningly sweet jugular.

AdderXYU wrote:and you can't make their work good by saying so.

I can consider my opinion, which is to say, I tend to like their work. Of course, there are many artists/designers here who's work I admire. I am certain there are artists/designers here who's work you admire. You seem to think that you are going to "improve" things according to your somewhat dogmatic and sarcastic attitude toward these artist's work.

I am sorry to say this, but many people think their work is good, hence their designs win over the ones you like.
There have been many entries I have wanted in the fog over some of the designs made by the artists you criticize, and yet they win, and I do not complain about it because the majority, no matter how "biased" it may be, chose.

Obviously, I cannot "make" their work good by saying I think it is good. You must also realize you cannot make it bad by personally believing it is bad. I can understand that people do not share my taste, and yet, this understanding is something you seem to lack.

I cannot pretend to know you, but sometimes I think you just enjoy attacking the integrity and ability of these artists by repeatedly criticizing them from a restrictive point of view that you have. This makes me somewhat sad, and somewhat angry in the defense of these artists.

I hold nothing against you. I did like the Van Gogh design you thought of. It was a very good concept; however, your attitude still seems somewhat restrictive. I can understand your dislike of the overly cute art that is starting to proliferate throughout shirt.woot. I am getting tired of it as well, but all you seem to do is criticize the artists who are merely creating entries that they think will appeal to their audience.

I am typing way too much lately.

Re: I Can Hear the Ocean!!

I am just really digging this shirt. Thats saying something for me because cute can kinda turn me off. But you have balanced cute so well as a vivid depiction of childhood imagination that I am sold on concept. We all know that the sound of the ocean in the shell is just garbled noise collecting in curved shape....its the naive and creative mind that has not forgotten what a wonder the world under the sea can be that really gives this shirt its life. Its not formula cuteness when it hits a harmony between feeling joy, seeing colors, hearing a cacophony, tasting salt, and touching life. The only thing missing is smell and I imagine that to happen when washed up sea life is gathered in his sand bucket.

Thanks for taking me on a trip back to my younger days on the beach
